Well, let's try this again. Paul Sorensen here with Luke Barnes who's filling in for Larry Ware who's off doing television. He's big money tonight. So the low rent guys are on the radio and the big money guy is over at Whitworth doing doing some Whitworth games for swx. But it's going to be fun.

We're going to have a game against University and Cheney tonight. So Luke, first time these guys played it was a pretty darn good game, 63:57. But they also had Evan Stinson in that lineup and he's the GSL leading scorer. Unfortunately he's been out the last 10 games and Cheney has had some issues because of that.

Just not been able to score the basketball. Yeah, Cheney actually led by 18 at the half in that ball game before University came roaring back. University won its first nine games of this season. The Titans come into this one four and four in league play, 14 and five overall. Cheney six and 13 overall.

Oh and eight in Greater Spokane League play. Winners of just one of their last 10 games. And you mentioned scoring. The basketball is going to be job number one for this Cheney Blackhawks team. They've scored over 50 points just two times since December 30th.

So if they're going to keep up with this high scoring University team that loves to shoot the three ball, they're going to, they're going to have to score it themselves. Well, it's interesting too because Valance is one of their top players. He's, he scored 38 points in the last two games. And Jens Hilburn, that name sounds familiar. He used to play at Lewis and Clark.

He was an all GSL football player at lc. Well, he's over at Cheney now playing basketball and he has scored 30 points in his last two games. And you know, so they, we talked about, you know, the loss to University in that first game of the season. Valance had 15 points, 10, Stinson had 16 and Hilburn had four. So you know, it's going to be a situation where if they've got to slow University down a little bit, you know, from that standpoint and then they've got to be able to figure out a way to put the basketball in the basket.

And I think that's going to be a tough task tonight. I really like the way Garrett Phillips has this University team playing. They're 4 and 4 overall. 14 or 14 and 5 overall. 4 and 4 in GSL action.

Cheney is 08. They're 6 and 10, 13. So it's, it's just kind of a battle. Two teams that have had interesting starts and finishes to the season thus far. Yeah, UHAI has, you know, proven itself to be quite capable against some of the lower teams in the gsl.

Their losses coming to the likes of Gonzaga Prep and Mount Spokane, Mead and I believe one to Ferris. But they are really a team that can beat you at all three levels. Tyler Nelson, their point guard is crafty. He can get you from downtown, but he can also put it on the deck, hit you with the pull up. And then they have the big 6 foot 7, Shane Skidmore inside.

This is a very difficult team to match up with in the Titans. They also lost to that team out of Texas that came in. I think it was St. Thomas of Texas who had a couple of seven footers. I mean it was, it was impressive to see and both University and Prep, I thought did a really nice job and I think, I think Mount School can play them as well.

But maybe I was wrong. Maybe it's just those two teams. But we had heard some really good stories about how good they were and both of the GSL teams, you know, represented very well in that game. Well, when we come back, we're going to continue our process here. We've got game action coming up here on 700 ESPN 105.

21. Well, let's talk a little bit about University. Garrett Phillips, he's, he's been here a long time. He's taken teams to state. He's had GSL teams fighting for titles.

This has not been, you know, one of his better years, but they're off to a decent start, 14 and 5. This is a good basketball team. They've got some length, they've got, they're physical. They're 4 and 4 in the 3A level. Mount Spokane was really kind of the team that separated themselves from the rest of the group, but just a great job overall so far by University.

And I think they're going to come out strong tonight. Yeah, I mean, we talked a little bit about their ability to attack you from all three levels. On the offensive side, an explosive point guard and Tyler Nelson, a big man, and Shane Skidmore. And then somebody that I think has gone a little bit unheralded for them this year. As a junior wingman, number 20 game, Gabe Heimbigner, he averages about 10 points a game, but he just kind of does all of the little things.

A really good basketball player. You know, he passes it, shoots it, plays defense. He's been a little bit of an unheralded source of this team's success so far this year. So I wanted to give him a little bit of props. But then you look at this Cheney team, we talked about their problems scoring.

This is a team that tonight is going to have to find a way to first and foremost get stopped on the defensive end. If they can slow down this University offense, then they can do the second thing they're going to need to do to win this basketball game and that's get out in transition, get themselves some easy buckets. If they get stuck in half court sets, allowing University's defense to get back time after time, then they're going to have a difficulty, difficult time scoring the ball. If they can get stops, get the ball off the rim, get out in transition, this genie team is going to have an opportunity to be successful tonight. Well, the JVs came in here and Cheney won that game 74 to 62 and really kind of controlled it.

Why? Because they hit their shots, especially on the outside and in University's defense they're primarily a man team and overall they want to keep you in front, plug the Gats on dribble penetration and basically turn the ball over so they can get into transition and offensively they love, you know, in terms of passing the ball around, they're going to try to transition you a little bit, get up and down the court and if that's not going to work, then kick it out. And this is a team that's assume everybody can hit a three point shot and they're also above average free throw shooting teams. So university can, they can shoot it. And I think that could be a concern for Cheney as well.

Yeah, University averaging just over 64 points a game this season. Contrast that with Cheney's 49 points per contest and you know, it's really gone down in the absence of Evan Stinson, as you mentioned. And you know, I mean it's tough to replace a guy like that. A guy that's being looked at by, you know, college is all over the place. You know, I mean he is a, he is a recruitable basketball player and when you lose a guy like that, it's going to be tough to replace that type.

Five big sky teams, three Pac 12 teams. And he told me, I saw him in the hall beforehand. He said Washington State was going to come up and watch him tonight. But that makes it a little bit tough when you're in a boot and your foot is broken. And he's just a great young man.

And his, his brother Mason, who's actually a freshman, he moved up and played JV tonight as well and he's, he's suited up on the varsity. Those two young men come over and mow my yard and they are on contract and my yard has never looked any better. So I guess I'm doing a mil, which is a mowing like this and imitate, you know, thing going there. So they're, they're just good quality young men and you wish them the very best. Hopefully he can get healed.

Our starting lineups first for the visiting Blackhawks of Cheney. At point guard, number two, Alex Heinrichs, a six foot senior and pesky defensive player. On the wing, Jacob Valance is 6 foot 5 senior. Valance leads the team in scoring at 12. 2 points per game.

At guard, a 6 foot 2 sophomore, number 12, Camden Collins, a defensive nightmare for opposing ball handlers. Also at guard, a 6 foot 2 sophomore, number 22, Carter Itner. He's the 3 point specialist for this Cheney Blackhawks team. And finally, number 32, Liam Carver, a 6 foot 5 sophomore forward. He's kind of a slasher and a finisher at the lane.

Now your starters for University. At guard, a five foot nine senior, number three, Tyler Nelson. Nelson leads the team in scoring at 14. 6 points per game at guard, number four, a five foot nine senior, Alex Moore. And then on the wing a six foot three junior number 20 game, Gabe Heim Bigner who we mentioned earlier, kind of a Swiss army knife.

Also on the wing of 6 foot 3 senior number 24, Ethan Cox. And rounding out the lineup, the big man, number 33, Shane Skidmore. The six foot seven junior and boy, Skidmore has some bounce too. He can throw him down, he can shoot it, he can do just about everything. This is a, I think we're set for a terrific ball game.

We're going to definitely see some athleticism. You mentioned Gents Hilburn. He was second in the Greater Spokane League in rushing this football season. He is an explosive athlete, can get from free throw line to free throw line. I think we're going to see a fast paced and action packed basketball game.

I agree. Your head coaches for University are Garrick Phillips, assistant Jody Dormeier. On the other side, Travis Peeve is your head head coach there from that standpoint, so just doing a great job, you know, overall. And this is going to be a game unfortunately losing Evan Stinson, that has really hurt this team. This team Cheney has lost their last 10.

But if Stinson's in that lineup, they're probably in the mix for seven of those 10 games and they're going to have a lot more W's here. So they're going to have to overcome, you know, some injuries. They're going to have to overcome a scrappy senior night tonight. You've got everybody being honored out here on the court. Court.

Cheerleaders are going to come out. They'll bring the seniors. Only three seniors on this university team. Five seniors for Cheney, which is interesting. So they're pretty well loaded up from that standpoint.

But it's going to take some senior leadership tonight for both of these teams to see who they can come through. And we'll finish up our portion of our pre game here and we'll send it back to the studio and then we'll be ready for game action after all the introductions are done, national anthems played and starting lineups are announced. Their families are out there. They're meeting at half court, tons of balloons. They really make a big deal out of senior night. Heck, we didn't even get a high five when we were seniors. In fact, most of us were pointing.

Most of the people in the stands were pointing towards the doors and telling us that we needed to go that way. Yeah, Chick rocks. Yeah, it's like, you know, pound sand, pal. I mean, you know, what the heck are you doing here? We're not giving you anything cool from that standpoint.

Well, there's some other pretty good games going on kind of around the area tonight. To to Luke, what do you think from a standpoint? You've got Ferris at North Central, Mount Spokane at Ridgeline, Central Valley at, at Lewis and Clark. Are they at Lewis and Clark? Is that ours?

Yeah. You're not doing the PA out there. Good man. I wanted to come be with you. I'm glad you did that.

Well, thank you very much. I thought you were on a way so I feel bad about that. And, and I think of course, Cheney, you high here. So tell us a little bit about your thoughts on those games tonight. Well, I mean one big one that's going on is meet at Gonzaga Prep.

If I'm not mistaken, the Bullpups still defeated in league play. They. Yeah, they have some athletes on that squad at Gonzaga Prep. Jamil Miller and Jackson Floyd. Colin Floyd's young man, Mark Fews daughter plays on the, the girls varsity team as well.

And you know, it seems to be just a kind of a celebrity fest. Floyd, Ryan, Floyd's two sons, you know, playing that team as well. So it you look at outstanding basketball in the area and guess what most of those folks are. They end up a Gonzaga prop, it seems like. Yeah, there's a couple of nice players at Mount Spokane also.

They're out at Ridgeline tonight. Ryan Lafferty, one of the premier guards in the league, stars for that Mount Spokane team. A 6 foot 5 guy that can get to just about any spot on the floor, can really stroke it from three. There's some spectacular basketball being played in the Spokane area. Well, you know, it was interesting too because Mount Spokane is undefeated in league play and you know, they're the number one seed coming out of the 3A.

I think Ferris and Mead are tied at 6 and 2. So you're right, those are two big games. Ferris is at North Central, Meade is at Prep. So Mead has the tougher task tonight, taking on Prep. North Central kind of has their hands full and could be interesting to see what, what's going on.

Yeah, we just saw the Saxons, well I guess a week ago now in the rubber chicken. That's right, the arena against Lewis and Clark. And boy they got some guys that can get some. And they're tall as well. Yeah, they got some length.

They got guys that can score it from the outside. Scath. I like the way he plays, man. I think he's. He.

When you get. He gets to the elbow free throw line. He's almost unstoppable. He's got a great jumper. He gives you a really good move so you got to defend the basket.

Then he pulls up and hits a shot, just a silky smooth jump shot with, you know, a six foot four Frame. Very, very tough for most high school basketball players to defend because if you're as big as him, you're probably not as quick and athletic. If you're as quick and athletic, he's in probably shoot right over the top of you is a matchup nightmare. Well, that's, I think that's the thing you see too. And that's what makes the gso, you know, kind of battle tested when they go on to districts and also the regional and then on the state and, you know, a lot of the teams on the west side, and I've been over there for many, many years doing the state championships for the 3A and 4A for, you know, following our GSL teams.

And I just laugh because they just, they look down on Spokane and yet Spokane comes in and proceeds to paste them. And I still remember a Rainier beach team that had, you know, they were just loaded and Mount Spokane went in there and beat him. They ended up getting called with six technicals in the last about 90 seconds of the game. And I think Mount Spokane won by about eight going away because it was a nail biter going back and forth. And then they just imploded and pretty much handed Mount Spokane the game.

But that was, that was impressive to see that, that beat down when nobody in the building, other than the Mount Spokane folks thought that they had a chance to win it. Yeah, well, there's been a long history of the Greater Spokane League thriving at the state tournament and particularly, I suppose, on the women's side of the ledger. You know, we're looking at a sign right there, Angie Bjorklund, one of the all time greats that played right here in this. Well, I guess probably not in this gym because that was the old university. Right.

Yeah. You went down to what, Tennessee is where she went. Yeah. And played for Pat Summit, you know, the hall of Famer. Just an outstanding coach and, you know, kind of an iconic coach in college basketball.

And I remember when the recruiting was going on and she was in the building and everybody was just in awe here in Spokane, you know, that Pat Summitt was in Spokane trying to recruit some gal out of ui and well, she turned out to be a heck of a player. And, you know, you think of all the players at LC that have gone on and that are playing professional basketball and out of Central Valley and Shadow Park. Shadow park on Zaga Prep, Mead. I mean, you know, Ferris. I mean, it's just, it's, it's awesome.

It really is. And that's a testimony of this community and the fact that we've been doing this, this radio thing for many, many years. And by the way, we'd like to thank Steve Pry, who's in our our studio tonight doing a great job for us running the spots and probably snickering knowing that we could electrocute ourselves at any moment with this unit, get knocked off the air.

So if that happens, totally my spot, my fault. I probably spilled pop all over the equipment. So sorry about that. But we'll try to keep you guys in line. And they're a little slow tonight.

All right, what do you think? What do you think we can look forward to tonight, Luke, in terms of this game here? I think we're going to see two teams that want to get up and down the floor. You know, I think it's going to be critical if you're genie, to try to create some, some easy offensive opportunities. So they're going to have to get out and run if they want to score.

And you high. They like to get up and down. They do, yeah, that, you know, I mean, Nelson is a terrific point guard. He's going to lead the break. They got Skidmore that can fill the break and then they, you know, you mentioned assume everybody can shoot.

They got guys that can fill on the wings and knock down threes if you collapse too hard into the middle. So I think it's going to be a real test of whether or not Cheney can slow down the University offense and then get out on its own and run a little bit. It's been a minute, so why don't we just quickly, before we get to game action, review the starters real quick. For university, number three, Tyler Nelson, number four, Alex Moore, number 20, Gabe Heimbigner. Number 24, Ethan Cox.

And the big man, number 33, Shane Skidmore. The six foot seven forward inside. Once again for Cheney, the point guard, number two, Alex Heinrichs, the deep shooting threat and leading scorer, number three, Jacob Valance. Camden Collins, number 12, Carter Itner, the three point specialist, number 23 and Liam Carver, number 32. Rounding out the lineup.

And that of course, is leaving out probably their top sub, number one. Gents. Hilburn who we've referenced a couple of times, gents, 30 points in the last two ball games for this Cheney Blackhawk team. We know that Valance and Hilburn can score the ball. You mentioned earlier, Paul, 68 points from the two of them combined in the last two games.

The rest of the Cheney roster combined 47 points in those last two contests. So Genie's gonna have to find some scoring outside of those two basketball players to keep up with the university tonight. Our three officials tonight, Jeff Asen, Todd Bitterman and Ben Erikson. Let's listen to the national anth sa. Very nice.

Good way to start off the night. All right, Luke, this is fun. We haven't had a chance. When's the last time we broadcast the game together, by the way? It's been years.

Has it been that long? Yeah, I think Pre Covid. Boy, did you red ball me that badly? I didn't. I'm sorry.

I thought. I thought I had done something to you guys. I hadn't gotten the call in a while. I figured you guys had been listening to my eastern broadcast. We don't need any of that guy.

No, they. They do a great job from that standpoint. It's been busy and just kind of a confluence, I'm sure, of a lot of different things. But it's good to have you back. They're.

They're mentioning the starters right now. Both these coaches are kind of getting geared up here. Garrett Phillips, head coach, longtime coach at University High School. I like him, he's fiery. And Travis Peavey, he's trying to turn the program around a little bit, rebuild.

And they've got some dudes. You get Stinson back in this lineup, you know, with some of the other guys, they have five seniors, but they have. Their JV program is doing a really nice job. They've rebuilt. They're growing like crazy, you know, out there as well.

They've moved up from the 2A level to the 3A level. And they're going to be a handful down the road if they, you know, this senior class kind of can develop and stay healthy. I think that's the key. They're going to. They're going to be a tough out next season.

Yeah, you mentioned their JV team. We just watched them play and man, they could shoot it. They had some guys that could handle. They get after it. And then from you highest perspective, Coach Phillips has done such a terrific job, like you mentioned, you know, when you're a high school coach in any sport, there's going to be, you know, ups and downs in terms of the talent and the, you know, the depth of talent that you're going to have available to you.

But every single year university comes out and they compete, you know, they play defense, they get stops and, you know, it's obvious that they are a well coached program. And then when they get fortunate and have a couple of kids like they have in Nelson and Skidmore and Heim Bigner in the group, now you have an opportunity to win some games and that's what this team is doing this year. And you know, credit obviously to the kids, but also to Garrick Phillips for getting them prepared. It's going to be a tough out in the postseason, both in districts and in the regional. And her officiating crew is getting ready.

And Cheney will take over underneath the hoop. And we see a little soft pressure here from University to get us started. Left side. Itner gets it over to Heinrichs patiently up top, drives right side, kicks it out to Collins. Back in the corner.

Cox outside. More back inside to Skidmore and he turns and finishes over the 6 foot 5 Carter from the left block. Here's Cheney up top. It's balance. He'll drive.

Stops at the left block. Nice ball movement. But the short jumper off the mark by Carver. Rebound Heimbinger and then poked out of bounds by Carter Itner. So they'll remain University basketball.

They'll inbound it from underneath the basket with 26 on the clock. University trying to press. Get up that tempo and get a quick layup. Good defense by Cheney to get back. Tyler Nelson inbounds it.

Heimbigner in and out on the three point shot. And the rebound is controlled by Carter Itner. Ittner gets it off to Heinrichs. He'll direct traffic from up high guarded tightly by Alex Moore in the corner. It's balance he gets it up top.

They'll swing it all the way around to Heinrichs 5 on the shot clock. Now pull up the three pointer. Damon three pointer that is by Carter Ittner just before the shot clock expires. And now a little half court trap coming from Cheney. Nelson caught in the corner there forced into the turnover and a foul gonna be called just past mid court.

12 to 9 Cheney leading university. Having some technical difficulties here. We actually had a mother in the stands that says hey, how come your power thing's not on? And we put it on and guess what? She's getting a picture full sist.

Yeah, that was. That was great. Tyler Nelson just completed a three point play for the Titans a few moments ago. After a stop on the other end for the Titans, Nelson back at the line makes the first of two to pull the Titans within two. It's good.

Been a good back and forth game so far. Good physical defense and these two teams are getting after it. They're making shots. Yeah, Cheney really is getting after it on defense. They forced five first quarter turnovers here.

Just 139 to play in the first quarter. Already five U high turnovers in this ball game. But just a one point Cheney lead as number 10, Cordell Lair brings it up for the Blackhawks on the left side. Controlled by Grayson Burton. Gives it off to Gents Hilburn.

Jimmy moving the ball from side to side. Hilburn into the lane. Can't get the tough finish to drop rebound university. And here come the Titans trying to take their first lead of the ball game. Heimbigner has it poked away but eventually gets it back.

Dribbles into the lane. Tried to feed a pass inside there but the wraparound was taken away. And then a tough finish on the other end by Cordell Lair. Lair's got some great speed. He also got a steal on that one as well.

And he can run. Showing a little athleticism. But back comes the Titans and another turnover as they're called for the travel. Number seven, Justice Johnson. He had gave the official an incredulous look as to say what are you talking about?

But nevertheless, it's the sixth U high seventh U high turnover of this first quarter. Garrett Phillips was not real pleased with that call. Now you got another turnover. This one on Cheney. I think that's their second.

I've been really keeping good track of it because Hilburn came in. He's missed a couple of layups and then a trip travel right there. So not the start that he was looking for, but somebody that certainly can come in and provide some scoring punch off the bench for the Blackhawks. Johnson drops it off to Heim bigger into the lane, couldn't quite finish. He wanted a foul call but will not get it.

And then it goes out of bounds, the officials will say last touch by the Titans. So Cheney will take possession with a 14:11 lead. 18 1/2 seconds left here in the first quarter. I went off Walcott's knee trying to go up and grab that, just couldn't pull it down. Doinked it off his knee out of bounds.

So Here comes Cheney 8 to shoot here into the lane. Too strong is the runner by Burton Heimbigner the rebound and A. J. wolf the three at the buzzer. That won't go.

Well we have me running the the technical aspect of it and I pretty much suck. So what happened? I think we figured it out. We had a battery issue because we were not plugged in and and now we are. So now we can hopefully bring you the game without interruption.

We're going to start quarter number two. A 14:11 Cheney lead over the host University Titans. Here comes University. Too strong on the pull up jumper is Jack Delmese. And the rebound by Cheney.

Lair brings it up, gets Hilburn right side. Hilburn, a launch of three. That's off the front of the iron. Lair tried to chase it down, but it ultimately goes out of bounds. Last touch by the Blackhawks.

Lair wanted a push call. He won't get it. Third turnover for Cheney, seven for University. You know Garrick Phillips is not going to be pleased about that at halftime. No.

And he's gone away from his starters here in this second quarter. Message being sent is what's going on. I would imagine so. Right now it's Jack Del Miese, A. J.

wolf. Thank you, Paul. Caleb Walcott. Ethan Cox is on the floor and he just made that. No.

Nice dish inside to Walcott for an easy two. And the Titans are within one. Cheney gets it inside to Connor McGowski who gets it back out to Hillburn. And then a missed three off the mark by Magalski. Another University turnover though.

We'll give it right back to Cheney. 14:13. Blackhawks on top. Just over a minute into the second. Hilburn around the screen from Magulski.

Drops it inside on the pick and roll. But the good hands of Ethan Cox knock it out of bounds. So Cheney will inbound with 17 to shoot. Yeah, it's tough. We're looking through cheerleaders.

We've got a backboard to try to get through to the 30 second shot clock. We at least see the scoreboard. So that's kind of fun. That is nice to be able to see. You know what, we should just put push this thing right out in the middle and then they can dribble around us.

That'd be kind of fun, but I think they'd pull out the plug. I wouldn't mind. That would work for me. The drive by Cheney's Miles Hoover. Too strong off the glass.

Oh, a nice move on the transition. Layup by Ethan Cox, but too strong off the backboard. Cheney controls the rebound, clinging to a one point lead. Hilt. He'll burn around the screen.

Gets it over to Lair and Layer. Going to get called for the offense. Foul. Great job by Tyler Nelson jumping in, taking that charge. Great defense because he chested up on him.

He had great feet and that's what the referees have to have to look at. Where is the position of the defense? The defender on that. And that was really a nice Play by Nelson to get that charge by working hard on defense. Cheney now I believe nine fouls.

So University will be in the double bonus for the remainder of this first half. Another U high steal though, this time by Hoover, who gets the layup to drop. And now a three point Blackhawks lead. 16:13. Six minutes to go in the first half.

Nelson and Skidmore back in the game for University along with Delmees Wolf and Justice Johnson. Wolf's three two strong off the back of the iron. And another rebound by Hoover, his third. Hilburn working against Johnson. Little spin move, he'll pull it back out.

Drops it off to Carver. The straightaway three no good. Jack Del Mies the rebound, he'll bring it up for the Titans. Into the lane. Spin move, a little contact, no call.

Layer gets a hand on it. But ultimately it's Johnson that controls. Skidmore's tip won't go. Johnson battling and ultimately it goes out of bounds. They'll say off of you high.

Johnson battling with three Blackhawks players inside for that offensive rebound. But ultimately it'll be Cheney basketball. Three offensive rebounds and they couldn't finish. And that, that's normally something that Cheney has a problem with. Tonight it's been you high.

I give Cheney a lot of credit. They've come out without their leading score, the GSL leading score. You know, Stinson averaging just about 19 points a game. And they're playing hard. They definitely are.

And I think we talked about it early on. I think it's going to start with their defense. And defense has been their calling card to this point. And the key on that one as they went high in that. That Luke, you know the 6, 7. So he rose above. They Couldn't defend the pass. He's right there.

Turns around for the bunny and the foul. So that could be a great three point play and get him to within a basket here with 437 to go in the second quarter game. Gabe Heimbigner back into the game as Johnson will get a breather and opportunity for couple easy ones here for Skidmore. Oh, that was nice shot. A soft touch that thing.

Bounced off the back of the iron but still somehow managed to pop in there. Nelson harassing Hinrich up top and then eludes Nelson and then hits a pull up 3. 21, 16. Che on top as we Damon Orthodontics three point shot, I should say. Great from Skidmore.

From Nelson to Skidmore for the two hand jam. And the Titans are back within three valance. A tough shot that won't go. Nelson the rebound. He wants to run three on two.

Swatted away is that pass was Itner that got a piece of it. But I guess they're gonna call a foul. Officials are gonna convene here and we'll see what they're talking about. But Tyler Nelson is at the free throw line. It looks as if he's gonna shoot a pair for University.

Now. I don't know what's going on. The foul. Hopefully they're gonna take the media time out. Then we're good.

Looks like we had a technical or double technical on both teams. So University came in and Nelson made both his free throws and now you've got Jacob Valance at the line for Cheney misses the first. So we'll try to find some clarification as to what exactly took place there. I'm wondering if maybe it had to have been double technical. Yeah, that's exactly what it is because you wouldn't have had two free throws right and then a point of interruption and they bring it back and in its Cheney's ball now in this thing so they'll get to check it in.

Score is 2219. Kind of exciting and Garrett Phillips is letting Jeff Asen have it right now on the sideline. He's not happy. I will say they are getting up and down the floor. So far that tempo has not been very good for University as they have eight turnovers here in the first 14 plus minutes of the ball game.

And now Cheney nearly loses it. Alex Moore harassing the ball handler and pokes it out of bounds. So with 16 to shoot genial inbound from mid court. Here comes Heinrichs working against Nelson up high, gets it to balance left side around the screen from Hoover and they'll reverse it. Nice position inside by Hoover.

Kicks it out to Carter Itner whose three is off the mark and that's a violation. Great defense U I was able to get a block on that kind of defend the three and Also got the rebound. Fifth turnover for University eight. Eight for University, five for Cheney. So a little bit.

Little press here from Cheney. Quickly broken by you, High Heimbigner. The pass to the corner. And Nelson. Nice shot.

Knocks down the three. And we are knotted at 22. The first time this game has been tied since zero to zero. Heinrichs working against Nelson. Works from left to right, then picks up his dribble.

Gives it off to Valance. Working against Heimdinger on the right side. He'll drive, pull up jumper from the right block too Strong rebound Shane Skidmore. His third of the contest. Nelson brings it up around a screen from Skidmore.

He'll pull, pull up for three. That's no good. More skies high for the rebound. Kicks it right back out to Nelson on the right side. He'll probe.

Working against Heinrich. Drops it to Heimbinger. Thought about the long three. He'll put it on the walk. And that's a walk.

Just sort of lost his footing there as he tried to go to the spin move. And that's turnover number nine for University. Or what I look like in the breadline fighting for that extra, extra loaf of wheat there. That was pretty bad. Big.

A lot of stumbling going on and bad hands. So kind of a bummer for University. Just keep your hands to yourself, all right? I guess that's the key. Heinrich too strong with the three.

Moore had it, but then had it stolen away. And Heinrichs is going to be fouled. A. J. wolf going to be called for his first.

A great effort on the rebound by Carter Ittner to keep the ball alive. The sophomore Itner the offensive rebound. And then fed Heinrich, who was slashing down the right side of the lane and drew the foul on Wolf, but misses free throw. One out of two. Yep.

This winter, tackle the roads with proud GSL partner Tirerama and Cooper Tires. Tirerama and Cooper tires more than just the tires. Store misses them both. Skidmore gets the rebound. His fourth of the ball game.

Skidmore off to a little bit of a slow start here tonight, but he has. He's approved. He has 10 of their 22. And he's got four rebounds. Seventh consecutive game in double figures.

He's. He's a little. And they do a nice job of getting the ball to him high so he doesn't have to worry about the minions below him. Right. It's very impressive.

Nelson inbounds it for U high. They get it into Skidmore working. That's a tough shot against Liam Carter. He spins over that left shoulder into the lane and scores. Nelson comes and rips it away from Camden Collins.

And now the Titans want to run Nelson into the lane. Driver. I think it's going to go against Heinrichs and he'll shoot to this. 24, 22 lead. 129 to play in the first half.

He can stroke it. He can get into the lane. He can do it from just about anywhere. And now we're going to have. I believe we're going to reset the shot clock here.

Looks like the game clock. Oh, I don't even know if they started. The clock still says 129. So adjust the shot clock 27. I think that says, man, tough to see the shot clock from our vantage point.

120. We have kind of the backboards right in the middle and now they're trying to straighten that out because you got to adjust the game. Doing a technical foul going to be called on Derek Phillips. Wow. That means he's gonna be sitting on the bench the rest of the night.

And if he gets another one, he's gonna get ejected. Jeff Basin nailed it. He is bleeding his case. And I think it was appropriate because he was. Again, it's your home court, your shot clock people, your scoreboard people, and you're ripping the officials.

Sorry. That's, you know, I get it. I see why they did that. He also might be trying to fire his team up too. Yeah.

And that's something he does. He will use his fiery personality to try to get them to play a little bit. And I will say this, I didn't see what exactly took place. I saw the tea get thrown at him. And I thought Garrick Phillips did a really nice job of maintaining his composure at that point.

He was pleading his case, certainly, but he wasn't in anybody's face. He wasn't yelling, he wasn't making a scene. But Valance will shoot the technical Free throws and makes the first. He's been playing well. He's having a nice game as well.

Yeah, into double figures already at 11. Yeah, you put Stinson in the in this match. Misses that. He's two for four of the free throws. Yeah, that's tough.

They trail by three. Do the Blackhawks to the host University Titans. 26:23, 126:6 to go. Hilburn will inbounds after the technical on university coach Garrick Phillips gets it into Heinrichs who's quickly harassed by Nelson. Over to Hillburn, right side pull up jumper.

That is a tough shot. It won't go. Nelson tracks down the rebound. A very effective rebounder from his position, especially considering his size. His second rebound, just a five foot down nine guard in there rebounding with six three and six four.

The two foot jump stop in the lane by Nelson, kicks it out to Heimbigner. He'll drive and Hilburn is going to get called with the block. So Heimbigner will go to the line to shoot a Paris the second foul on Hilberg. Well, the general store. They've served the Inland Northwest community since 1946.

And. And I think he also has a block, if I remember correctly, on a shot that caused a turnover for Cheney. So great job from that standpoint. Seven in the first quarter. So they've improved that from that standpoint. But we also have had a couple of technicals, two on University, one on Cheney on the other side. Cheney, it's only rebounded the ball. They only have seven rebounds.

They've gotten rebound out, rebounded big time by University, but they have three steals. They have a block and a couple of assists and they only had seven, seven turnovers. So that's why they're able to kind of hang in this game. But their offense kind of went a little bye bye there with the about about 2 minutes ago in that quarter and they couldn't score. They had a tough time getting the basket as we talked about the ball in the basket and that that made it awfully difficult.

Yeah, and that's what we saw early in this contest is they tried to get it inside the Skidmore, but just a little bit short on the entry pass and Itner will bring it up and then he just throws it away. A miscommunication there with Heinrich. The ninth turnover of the contest for Cheney. That's starting to even itself out after U High was so careless with the ball in the first quarter. Skidmore 20 points, six rebounds for the Titans.

Tyler Nelson 14 points, six rebounds, a couple assists, a couple of steals. And then Walcott we mentioned with 11 points and seven rebounds for university and our alliance insurance player of the game. We're gonna go a cold player of the game because we are Nelson and Skidmore because they really kind of keyed this. They held hey held serve when things were were going rough, you know, for University from that standpoint. But they were consistent and they you know between the two of them 34 points.

They also had over 10 rebounds and they filled up the stat line. Skidmore also had a block as well. It just made life miserable for the Blackhawks inside.
