So the boys game just wrapped up here and the Prep boys defeated CB by the score of 85 to 46 in that ball game and other scores as we look at the scoreboard presented by Lodestone Wealth Management in boys basketball. Final score we understand now From Ferris Ridgeline 51, Ferris 41 after three quarters at Mount Spokane, the Wildcats have a 6241 lead over North Central and those are the only scores reported at this point in time on the schedule. The other games this evening Cheney is at Lewis and Clark University is at Mead and on the two way side of things, Clarkston hosts Orofino, Pullman is at Moscow, Shadow park at Ephrata. Boys and girls tonight, East Valley at Timberlake and the Rodgers girls are playing at Medical Lake are at home against Medical Lake this evening. So that's what's going on in GSL basketball.

GSL wrestling tomorrow, Cheney is at Mount Spokane. Mead will travel to Central Valley. North Central is at Gonzaga Prep, Ridgeline at Lewis and Clark and Ferris will host U Hai. On the two A side of things, Shadow park is at Pullman. Well, that's not right because I've got Pullman down here twice.

So that's a, that's a problem. You can't have Pullman playing two different bond at home again, one and on the road in the other. Or a heck of a travel agent one of the two. So I don't know what I did there. But Shadow Park's wrestling somebody tomorrow.

Pullman's wrestling somebody tomorrow. They may wrestle one another and I may have screwed up Clarkston, but I do know that West Valley and East Valley. Oh, I think the Shadow Park I think might be wrestling Rogers tomorrow. I think maybe I just stopped at the P rather than going making the other line down to the R. Phone probably rang.

It got you distracted or. I don't know because I've got the P and then I've got pu@clar. So I'm thinking Pu is Pullman because that's the first two letters of Pullman. I just did the P. Oh, and I think I just forgot the other little line to make it an R.

You, it's your world. We're just living in it. There you go. West Valley is at East Valley tomorrow in wrestling as well. Gymnastics at Rogers tomorrow, Cheney, Mount Spokane, North Central and U High along with Rogers competing in that.

So that's what's going on around the Greater Spokane League in basketball, in wrestling and in gymnastics. All the winter sports are underway here this evening. Here we are going to see Gonzaga Prep taking on Central Valley this evening. And this is another non counting game as far as league play goes. These teams will play again later in the season after January for their league contest.

But this is a good measuring stick at the start of the season. Try to figure out how you stack up with another team on the 4A side of things in the Greater Spokane League. Well, Prep's had a heck of a schedule. They've had to take on Chiwana and me, two of the better teams in the state of Washington. So, you know, in Central Valley it'll be interesting.

Only one senior on both of these teams. Both of these teams are very, very young, which is, you know, a great thing for the Greater Spokane League down the road because they're going to do nothing but get better as the season goes on and the years go on as well. Yeah, Gonzaga Prep, with six freshmen out of 14 players on this roster CV with just two freshmen, but they also have three other sophomores and four juniors on this squad. So as you said, just one senior on each team. So there are going to be young ladies we get very familiar with over the next few years.

Well, and it allows the coaching staff to really kind of coach them up and you know there's going to be growing pains. There's going to be things that drive the coaches nuts because maybe one night they're not doing something right. They've gotta gotta fix that. And that just comes with experience. And it's awfully hard to roll in as a freshman and dominate.

If you are, you're gonna have yourself one heck of a career. So big learning curve for a lot of the younger ladies tonight. But I think we're gonna see from an effort standpoint and competing standpoint a whale of a basketball game. Well, Gonzaga Prep has one of those freshmen that is coming in and dominating right away as a freshman. We'll be back talk about her in just a moment or two.

That's 448-2600 Damen Orthodontics all right, this portion of our pregame show is being presented by Divine Corporation Fastmark so Gonzaga Prep 22 on the season, two losses have been to very good teams by four points each. Chijuana they lost 67, 63. Mead they lost 47 43. They have defeated Ferris, they have defeated Mount Spokane and they are led by Ayla Cornwall, a freshman at 5ft 7 inches tall. She's a guard, scored 36 against Chijuana.

She's been over 20 in three of their four games, averaging 24 and a half points a game. She is a breakout star here in the Greater Spokane League. She can shoot and the reason she can shoot is because they have a big six three post in Julian Beers in the middle, who's the lone senior on this team and really does a nice job. Creates some problems. You know other teams have to pack down in there so that's going to open up the outside shooters and when you have somebody with a touch like Cornwall and you leave her open, she's going to destroy you.

Three players do the bulk of the scoring for Gonzaga Prep. Cornwall also Bears and Olivia McIntyre are their main three players that do the bulk of the scoring. As I said for this Gonzaga Prep team for Central Valley they are 3 and 2 on the season. Won their first two games defeating Post Falls in Glacier Peak. Then they lost to Camas, lost a Mead by four.

So both these teams have lost a Mead by four. So if you want to go but comparative scores, this should be a very even game. And then in their last game CB defeated Lewis and Clark 43 to 33. They're being led by Eden Sander who was an all league player last year she is averaging nearly 60 points a game and then they have their own very good freshman and Dre Dombo, who is 5ft 8 inches tall and she is averaging about 12 points per ballgame.

Well, she does a really nice job and it's impressive to see. It just tells you the strength of the AAU programs and you know, the out of school programs that go on around Spokane to develop young freshmen like this to come in where they can step right in at the varsity level and compete and not only compete, but dominate. And one of the things they're doing here at GSL games, they've got a little table outside with student recruiter there and they have information available if there are kids that want to know more information about ewu.

Well, and I love seeing that as you as you know, enrollment all across the state region country is down. So they're fighting for students trying to get that enrollment back up there. They're out aggressive doing that. And tip of the hat to Eastern for being aggressive and trying to get students. My daughter graduated from there, absolutely loved the program and enjoyed her experience at Eastern Washington and part of the perks of being a sponsor of the Greater Spokane League.

If you show up at the site and get something done and they haven't fired me yet off the air on radio, so that's a good sign. So that's something I really look forward to not happening. They have a Couple players at 58 but nowhere near the height that Gonzaga brep has and they want to work inside.

They want to limit second chances and also compete hard and make it difficult for CB to get, you know, second chance points, rebounds and slow them down on their break on Central Valley side. They've got to take care of the post with Beers out there at 6:3. That means they're probably going to have to double team change some things up and that's going to leave some shooters open on the outside. They've got to make their shots when they have the opportunity and they've got a rebound.

They've got to get second chance points to compete and they also need to hustle and block out. Those are some of the things when we had talked to Coach Wilson for Central Valley and Coach Arty for Gonzaga Prep that they brought up. It's got to be kind of odd for Jeff Hardy in this game. He left Central Valley to go to Gonzaga Prep, so he's coaching his old school. He yelled at me a lot of times out here in the Valley, but you know, he's following in father's footsteps.

Let's face it. That was, you know, pretty darn good career that his dad has and he's made a great transition and you know, he loves the sport of basketball and he's done a nice job. So the 10 second violation prior to the pass going into the fourth court and another turnover for Gonzaga Prep. The pressure worked before him. Just a great job that time. Just made him work to get that ball up there and just couldn't get it over the line. Third turnover by Central Valley.

So doing a nice job of getting the ball back on prep. They're just not putting the ball to hold. Gosney brings it in to Wilson and she'll send it over on the left side. Now to Dombo, to Wilson. Give and go low to the left side.

Cornwall is eighth, a freshman, two assists for Cornwall. They have eight total assists. So done a nice job of spreading the ball around. One steal and that was by Cornwall. She's filled up the stat line, Larry with points, rebounds, assists and steals.

But 12 turnovers in the first half was a big deal. Central Valley only had five rebounds. Lysander and Dumbo were both the leaders with two each, three assists and five steals in a block. And they only had two turnovers. So turnover difference was huge.

Rebounding difference was huge. Yeah, if you're a small team like cv, you've got to make that back somewhere. The rebound in disadvantage. And they've done a nice job enforcing some turnovers here in this ball game. They have and they've done a nice job I think on Bears underneath when you know, with the backside help and really making it hard for her.

They're basically sending players at her from from both sides, making it tough to get the ball inside. CV or rather Gonzaga Prep scored the first seven points of this ballgame. They let it seven to nothing. CV came back with eight straight points, took their first lead of the game at eight to seven. Prep came back, took the lead out to four at 14 to 10 before CB started a 10 nothing run to take a 20 to 14 lead and they had a 2216 lead and ended up leading 22 19. At the end of the first quarter, they up that lead to five, but here came Prep.

They got the lead back at 27, 26. CD came back, took the lead back at 30 to 29. Prep again took the lead at 33, 30 and we ended the first half tied at 33. In the second or in the third quarter of play, we had 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 lead changes in this ball game plus a tie. CV took a 4240 lead in this ball game.

Prep got the lead back at 43, 42. They were on a nine nothing run. They got the lead out to seven at 49 to 42. Prep came or rather CV came back, cut it to three at 53. 50.

But Prep gets a three pointer at the end of the third quarter and they take a 5650 lead into the fourth quarter. They led still by five at 60 to 55. Back came Central Valley. A three pointer by Dombo tied this game at 62. Then Cornwall with an NBA three as the shot clock was running up put Prep on top 65, 62.

They upped the lead to six, still had a six point lead at 72, 66. NCV scored six straight points. They tied the game for the sixth time at 72. Quinn Peterson three put Prep on top 75, 72. Then a three pointer by Gabby Wilson tied the game at 75.

And there was a foul away from the ball on Gonzaga Prep. It puts Aspen Henry on the line for two free throws. But she missed them both. And so we stayed tied at 75. Both teams had opportunities.

Prep had a chance, then CB had a chance. Neither could get a basket to fall. And in the end, this is the play that decided the game. It is our play of the game. Presented by Adams.

And you know, you look at it and it was freshman driven. I mean, it's really amazing. You only had two seniors, one in each one of these teams. Bears was outstanding for Gonzaga Prep and, you know, just a great job. We didn't see much of Alexa Harnett who's the senior for Central Valley.

So the future is very bright for both of these basketball programs with the youth that they both have. Well, I'm just telling you right now, for the next three years, there's going to be a Gonzaga Prep Central Valley girls game on the radio every year. I'm just going to tell you that's just going to be. That's the way it is. We're just going to pencil it in and we're going to do one of these games every year that these teams play.

19 for Olivia McIntyre. Nine points in the fourth quarter including the game winner and a three pointer that put Prep ahead 75. 72 for Quinn Peterson. She had 11 in the game. Two points for Bell Hernandez, two points for Laura Thompson for Prep's total of 77 for Central Valley.

What can you say about Dre Dumbo in the fourth quarter of play? Dombo with 19 points. She hit four. Maybe. I think she hit four three pointers in that fourth quarter of play.

She had six for the game. Dombo 33 points in this ballgame to lead all scorers on six threes, four twos and five out of six from the foul line. Wait a minute, that might be 31. Let's see, I got 31. Yeah, so 31.

They had 45 rebounds in this game, only 11 for Central Valley. Nearly had three players, McIntyre, Bears and Cornwall, who had triple doubles. McIntyre had nine, 13 rebounds for Bears and 13 for Cornwall.

Also had two assists, a steal and two blocks. Ten assists for Gonzaga Prep. Two steals, three blocks. But they had 21 turnovers. On the other side, Sanders did a nice job.

She had four rebounds, tied with Dumbo for four. Both had two assists, both had two steals each a block for Sanders. You know, from that perspective. But only six total turnovers. But when you're out, rebound at 45 to 11, Larry, that's tough.

I shorted her one steal. My bad on that one. She was your player of the game for Central Valley and Gonzaga Prep. I'm going to go with the other freshman as well, even though I really like what Peterson did with those nine points down the end. She also had five rebounds.

But I'm going with Alaia Cornwall, who had 22 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks as well. You know, so just a great job, excellent defense. Also, a shout out to Julie Few, who I thought Julia Few did a great job, you know, defensively she had three assists and a steal and was very, very tough on the defensive side. They're your players. She was guarding Sander and Sander did not score in the fourth quarter of play.

And that's why Dombo had to carry the load. She had 17 of her 31 points in the fourth quarter because Sandra couldn't do anything with Hugh Gardner. And it's some of those, you know, you always look at the stat lines, you know, the guys are scoring points and rebounds and all those things are going to get kudos. I really like the defensive effort and when it came right down to it, the defense, the last three minutes of that game was the difference for Gonzaga Prep to pull away this portion of our game presented by Instant Sign Factory.

It was Mead over U High 80 to 56. The Mount Spokane girls defeated North Central and Ridgeline knocked off Ferris by the score of 64, 49. On the boys side here, Gonzaga Prep defeated CV 85 46. It was the LC boys over Cheney 59 to 43. Yuhai beat Mead 57 to 39.

Battle of the Titans at Mount Spokane. All for the Wildcats, Mount Spokane 81, North Central 56. And Ridgeline beat Ferris 68 58. On the two way side, the only score we have is a girls game. Medical Lake beat Rogers by the score of 63 to 33.

Coming up, our next Arby's GSL game of the week will be after the new year on January 5th. That's a Friday. We'll be out at Mount Spokane High School for the Battle of the north side. Mead at Mount Spokane. Boys and girls games.
