Dave, I guess it's kind of normal for the South Hill teams to come to the north side to play if it's not at Union Stadium. It's been at Albie in years past. But have you folks been here at Union Stadium?

We have. We came out, first game played Mead High School. We had a good game. It was a competitive game. We ended up losing by two touchdowns.

But the Mead school district is being generous and they're pretty much hosting a lot of Spokane schools right now. And beautiful stadium out here. Beautiful night tonight. Absolutely. And getting to have a few parents and folks in the stands will be kind of nice.

It will be nice. We basically, both sides were able to give out 500 tickets tonight, so we're expecting a crowd of about a thousand. And this can hold more than that, but we're under about 100 of our total number. But we thought that'd be the right way to go. All right, let's talk a little bit about what you folks are doing right now in District 81 and in the Mead School district and in the Valley, you're trying to jam nine months worth of sports into about four or five months here.

So how are things going? You know, it was tough. We couldn't do anything in the fall. And then by about January, things were starting to pop a little bit. So as athletic directors, we had to make some really tough decisions to try to say, are we going to cancel sports as far as the traditional fall sports or something, or the basketballs or what are we going to try to do?

So basically we got together and said six to seven week seasons. We'll start with our traditional fall sports. We started on February 15th. If you remember, we had a big Snowstorm on about February 14, so that was difficult. And then we got our volleyball rolling inside and then we ended up getting soccer, girls soccer going.

We got both boys and girls cross country. So we're just finishing up our fall seasons. Football's got one more week but everybody else is done. This week we've got all GSL cross country varsity meet at Central Valley at 11 o'. Clock.

So that's going on tomorrow or Saturday. And then we'll go into our traditional spring sports because they'll be all outside. And then we will finish with both basketball, wrestling and gymnastics. So we built it so that we were hoping, reading tea leaves again, that the coronavirus will go down and down and that we could get our indoor sports done last. So been a difficult process.

It has not been easy for anyone, the kids, the parents, the athletic directors, the coaches. But again, the only positive thing that most people are saying, we're able to play, we're getting something done, we're giving these kids an opportunity. So that's the positive side. Again, a lot of heartbreak and a lot of tough things on the other sides. Absolutely.

Dave Hughes is the athletic director at Lewis and Clark High School. Beautiful stadium here. And we've got an option right now, beautiful stadium in downtown Spokane or a beautiful stadium at the Albie site. And there's a lot of momentum starting to come for going downtown. There is.

There's a lot of momentum for downtown. I'm fortunate enough to be on the committee that's building the stadium, whether that be at Albie or downtown. We believe that our educational components, things like locker room seating capacity, everything we need for high school sports will be the same if it's downtown or if it's Albie. So basically, we're really looking at location. And I believe location is critical.

And I've been a supporter of the downtown stadium for a long time. And I believe the best choice for Spokane Public Schools is to build our stadium downtown and then have our public facilities district basically run the stadium for us, which would be a cost savings to the school district. That's where people, when you start talking cost, just like tonight at Mead, we as Spokane Public Schools are paying the workers for me to put this event on and in. Anytime you do something like that, we've got both security, we've got gate people, we've got custodians, we have a lot of things. So basically, the cost saving proposal was when you add all those games up, it's about $350,000 a year to have the workers.

That's the big benefit that I see to Spokane Public Schools economically is we don't have to pay for those people because that's where the public facilities department, when they get to, quote, use the stadium and generate revenue for other areas, that's how they pay the workers. So that's when we talk about a win, win for everyone economically. That's really what we're talking about, is the win for the Spokane public schools, about $350,000 a year. And also you've got maintenance costs, which again, the public facilities will take care of all that. If the turf needs to be replaced, if you get a hole in the roof, if somebody breaks a window.

Not on Spokane Public Schools dime, it's on public facilities dime. And the public comment period has ended, Correct? The public comment period has ended. We had two different nights where the board listened to public comment and then we had what's called a thought exchange and that has ended. And then the board is going to.

Sometime in April, they're going to have to make the final decision. The plans for ALBI are done. Basically, it's ready to be bid. If we go downtown again, there'll be work this summer as far as architectural work and the plans. And then, like I said, a lot of our work is done though, because we have those key components that we know.

So. So basically instead of building a bowl system like we were going to build at Alby, now we're going to build a flat ground stadium. And then, you know, the stadium seats go up. So that, that would be the biggest difference. Okay.

Anything we missed that you wanted to hit on today? I just think that people need to understand that ALBI has been great for the city of Spokane, but it's not going to be the same. Basically the plans and these have been public, these are on Spokane Public Schools website and things. Basically the whole thing gets almost filled in and then it becomes a 6,000 seat stadium, which again, I think is a beautiful stadium that we've designed and things like that. But again, it's going to be for our purposes, for the school's purposes.

It's just location. It's going to be a beautiful stadium downtown or it's going to be a beautiful stadium in Albie. And there's a lot of people, all the five athletic directors in Spokane schools believe the best point for it is downtown. One thing that people don't understand is with building, trying to build programs. Being downtown gives excitement to some of the younger kids to either watch the game and want to be there, or we're going to let them play in it.

Some as a freshman, you know, freshman. Boys soccer would be down there, girls soccer as a freshman, and that can build your programs. When kids say, hey, this is a beautiful facility, I want to be with it. The other big thing we think at Lewis and Clark because it's of kind close. We have a good following of band and drill team and cheerleaders and.

And we just think we'll get more attendance, which is good for us. Gives kids a great thing to do. We believe that families would enjoy coming down and maybe having a meal downtown and then going to a game, something like that. And we also think it's really good as far as the transportation part. You know, we've all talked that, you know, cars are not great for the environment things.

Well, we've got bus transportation downtown really easy, and people could take the bus down and hang out downtown and go to a game. So we just think all of there's a lot of positives for downtown. Absolutely, Dave, we appreciate the time. Thanks for all your hard work on not only that, but everything you're doing with the other athletic directors getting games played this year. Thank you.

Then they defeated U Hai, lost to Lewis and Clark, or excuse me, lost to Cheney in a tight ball game and then lost to Central Valley last week. Ferris also comes in with a 1 and 4 record. They lost their first game to Central Valley. They beat you High and then they lost to Mt. Spokane, Mead and Gonzaga Prep.

So far, three straight. Lewis and Clark has lost two straight coming into this one. Something's going to give, something's going to give. And it's two teams that have shown promise, Larry. They've had some good things happen, but then they figured out a way to have a penalty or a turnover or a blown assignment, you know, and it just, that's the difference between winning and losing right now, you know, in the gsl.

And they, you know, they've just been a little off on the offensive side. Both defenses are, have played hard, but when it came right down to making plays, the other team seems to be the ones making the plays and not Lewis and Clark and Ferris. But they actually had a ball freshman game yesterday. It was pretty good. There was a lot of people up there.

I was driving by Heartfield and Ferris was able to get the win 30 to 15 and you know, kind of set the tempo. These are two teams that don't like each other and they don't care if they're going to play in a parking lot in the middle of the state or on the top of Mount Spokane. It will be a battle because of a lot of stuff that they grow up with competing against each other over the years. It makes a lot of fun. Former head coach at Lewis and Clark High School won a national championship back in the day.

Or I'm sorry, I'm thinking national championship. I wonder why. Anyway, a state championship at Lewis and Clark. Now he's over head coach at the Ferris Saxons, going up against Joe Ireland, a guy that he actually coached when he was on the staff at lc. And Joe's doing a nice job in his first year.

You know, he's fighting through, you know, some battles as well. Your keys to the game are kind of important. Is it going to be A. J. newcomb or Peyton Page?

Paxton Page at quarterback. Newcomb's the lefty, Paige is the right handed quarterback. Both have had, you know, moments of brilliance and an issue where a lot of interceptions, open receivers, missed throws, things along those lines. Last week it took a defensive touchdown for Ferris to score against Gonzaga Prep. And then the week before that they got shut out as well by Meade.

So it's been a little tough offensively two weeks in a row not being able to get the ball in the end zone, that's going to be a key. Put together a drive, stay away from penalties, don't hurt yourself. See if you can stick this ball in the end zone. Get some confidence on offense. Special teams needs to step up and defense is going to have to play well and get a couple of turnovers for Ferris to win this game.

On the other side for Lewis and Clark, Joe Ireland's in the same boat. They've had mistakes. They've been able to move the ball against a lot of the teams they played. They just turned the ball over to much and that's something they cannot do against Ferris if they expect to win the game. They've also had some penalties, but they have some guys who can make plays.

Wyatt Porter, the quarterback is a junior and he's third in the GSL in passing. They got some big receivers on the outside. They like to pound the football up the middle and then play action. Ya, and they like to play defense where they come after you and keep everything in front and hit you hard and hit you often and hit you again. And so it should be a very good physical game.

Battle of the South Hill. They usually, usually don't disappoint and I expect that to take place here tonight. No disappointment. It'll be a good game. We'll have more of the pregame show after this Timeout.

And on Saturday it's the Greasy pig matchup out at U High as CV will play University in the Battle of the valley on the 2A side. All these games tomorrow North Central is at Shadow Park, Rogers visits Othello, Pullman will host Clarkston and East Valley plays at West Valley in soccer.

The 2A culminating first round is going on tonight. West Valley defeated North Central today, one nothing. And so they are. They just finished up with that. And now they're introducing the starters here today. Ferris will be the home team in their red jerseys with gray numerals. They have red pants and the gray.

Or the silver helmets, I guess. Silver numerals, gray pants and silver helmets. Lewis and Clark will be the visiting team in their white jerseys, black numerals trimmed in orange. White pants and black helmets here this evening. Ferris, or rather Lewis and Clark, won the coin toss.

They deferred to the second half and so, or, excuse me, Barris won the coin toss. They deferred to the second half. And Lewis and Clark will get the ball to start the game. It happened last week and that was nice to see as well. So it's always good to have family and friends come out and watch this. Normally, you know, it's going to be a lot more packed. It's a rivalry game. You're going to see a lot more people attend the rivalry games tomorrow night.

I don't know how they're going to keep this thing from not being full because of the Mead, Mount Spokane, you know, battle that always brings. That's always the most attended game. In the GSL during football season. Well, they're only giving out so many tickets for people to get in. That's how they keep it from being.

That works well and then they can, you know, sit over in the field and have a big chair and look over the fence. I'm sure there will be people on the fence lines outside the stadium trying to watch the ball game tomorrow night. Time now for our games opening kickoff. Ferris will be doing that. It is presented by Tiorama or excuse me, it's presented by Papa Murphy's.

I beg your pardon? What's their new slogan? I don't know. Yeah, hang on. Thank you.

Good job. Nope, don't have it on this one. Oh, rats. Sorry. At any rate, Papa Murphy's go see him for a pizza.

How's that? London, 425 degrees. Used to be the old one. You still need a hot oven. Absolutely.

You got to call them to go get it. So there you go. So here comes Mason Bergland, or Backland rather, ready to kick it off. Here's the boot downfield, end over end. This will be fielded at the seven yard line.

They run it up into the middle of the field, across the 20 to the 25. And getting to about the 26 or the 27 yard line is the deep man for Lewis and Clark. And I think that was Stephen Cox who brought it back out to about the 27 it looks like. And that's where LC will have it to start with their first offensive possession. Look like Alex Roland, the senior did it or the junior did a nice job of coming over, making that tackle, cleaning that play up.

So now we get a chance to see the LC offense, they like to run run, then set up that play. Action pass. Wyatt Potter is the quarterback, better than 500 yards passing in the five games so far this season. He has four wide receivers on first down. He fakes the handoff, keeps it himself, tries to bounce outside, gets a block, gets to the corner, gets to the 30 yard line and has run out of bounds as he gets up to the 33, it looks like for a gain of about 6 yards.

Very nice run that time. That was just a design play. Fake fake to the running back to go off tackle. Then he just kept it, ran around the left side and got a nice block from his wide receiver downfield. Broke a tackle.

And that's a good start offensively for for the Tigers. Gent Silburn, the leading receiver in the GSL both for catches and yardage, is the wide receiver that made the block that Helped Wyatt Potter get to the end there. So second and four now for the Tigers. They'll have two receivers split to either side. Again, ball on the left hash.

There's the snap and the handoff. This is Keel Potter off the right side. Not much there. He's going to struggle close to the 35 yard line before he is stopped. And Ferris doing a pretty good job there, I think it was.

Preston Newcomb is the guy that made first contact there for the Saxons. Either he or Darian Riley maybe. I think, I think Riley was the one that was in there just doing a nice job. He was able to step up. And also DePaulio who's, who's played well, he's been, you know, he's the big guy in the middle at 270 pounds.

He came over and helped out. Good play. Big third down here for the Tigers. So a gain of a yard. Third down and three here for lc.

They've got a wing to the right, two receivers to the right, one to the left and they will hand it off. Gunning off the left side and Getting close to first down yardage is keel potter near the 37 yard line. DePaulo among three Saxons. Riley also there on the stop. Officials gave him right to the 37, which will be good for a Damon Orthodontics first down.

Yep, that's all they needed was just kind of the length of the football and that last stretch was enough for, for them to pick it up. But well designed play defensively. Nice job that time to get over there, make the tackle. Just a good individual effort by the back to get the first down. First down and 10 for LC.

They have it on the left hash at their own 37 yard line. One receiver, that is Kuntz split to the left side. Low snap. Picking it up is Potter throwing it out to the right sidelines. And it's trapped out there by the receiver at about the 43 or 4 yard line.

And the intended receiver that time for LC was David Dunlap. Jacob Tanani was in coverage areas. Two interceptions, second in the league, you know, in, in interceptions. That that play was kind of messed up by a bad snap. Larry just threw the timing of the quarterback and wide receiver off a little bit when he had to reach down, pick it up and then try to fire that ball off there.

Hence the bounce. 10:46 to play. First quarter, no score LC. Second and 10 at their own 37 handoff. Potter off the will struggle close to the 40 yard line for a gain of about three yards on that play.

Logan Wagner was there, first man to hit him for Ferris. Just to play to the right side between guard and tackle that time. Ferris was able to get upfield but they didn't get the penetration inside and he found a little bit of a seam there. But again a big third down here. Most likely a passing situation for the Tigers.

Third down and long, third and seven. Hilburn is slotted inside, Kunz out to the left side. Two men wide to the right. Dunlap the outside receiver. Man in motion out of the backfield.

Kiel Potter, he gets it on a lateral, gets out to the 40 yard line, breaks the tackle and has run out of bounds as he gets to the 42. I think Tanani was over there to help shoulder him out of bounds at about the 42, which was a gain of 2. Fourth down. Good reaction play that time by the Saxon secondary. Came up there, Tanani got in the way, kind of bounced him out there and another lad came over and finally pushed him out of bounds.

But a good reaction by that Ferris Saxons. They're going to get the football back here and stopped LC on their first offensive drive. Dane Cobb is the putter and back deep to receive. Ferris has a man inside the 25 yard line. Here's the boot downfield.

Nice kick. And this will be fielded on a fair catch at about the 24 yard line by G Day. Ola. Ola. Joy Agby.

He's busy. He returns kicks, returns punts. He's. He's the receiver they try to find. Also a place of defensive back as well.

He plays a lot, you know, a lot. Lot to look forward to with Tom. You're out using him. That young man has got some good skills. And so a 36 yard punt with no return and it'll be first down and 10.

Ferris, their first offense play. Newcomb the junior quarterback in there with two receivers split right, one to the left ball the left hash. They'll hand it off on first down. Running off the right side, crossing the 25 goes the running back and he'll get out to about the 27 or 8 yard line and we'll try to see who that is packing the pigskin there for Ferris. Might have been olajoy Agby, he moved him the running back.

Interesting. And now in at quarterback they may rotate their quarterbacks running in the plays. Tyler Waldo is in now. Yeah. All the joy of being the runner.

Well, he's explosive. He's got, he's got some stuff. And they want to put the ball in the best football players hands Right now, that's him gain a 4, 2nd and 6. He gets the call again, bounces outside on the right side, but it's over the 35, little high step. Gets a shoulder out of bounds as he crosses the 40.

It's a Damon Orthodontics first down out to the 41 yard line. And if I say his name, a lot easier to say Ola Joy Egby. I think it's Ola Joy Egby. Yeah, okay. Ola Joy Eggby.

I spelled it out fanatically. There's four little spots in there. I tried to reach each one, you know, appropriately. By the way, the tackle was made by Max Meyer, 21. The junior came over and knocked him out of bounds.

But nice little hesitation in the hole and then he just bounced it right. Found some nice running room. 13 yards on the pickup. First down and 10. Ferris at their own 41 from the right, hash trips to the left, tight end set to the right.

And this is Waldo at quarterback. They hand it to Olajoy Agby again and he will get thrown backwards by Keel Potter. Once he gets to about the 43 yard line, it'll be a gain of just a couple of yards there. They're setting up some play action, you know, efforts as well. They have three tall wide receivers out there and you know, they want to try to get this LC defense to creep up, try to stop the run and then see if they can throw and get the ball downfield.

So second down and eight. We have 8:40 remaining to play. First quarter in a scoreless game. Ferris, first offensive possession. They've got one receiver split to the right side.

Two men wide to the left and Waldo at the quarterback spot. He takes the snap, looks to throw, guns it out to the left side, has a catch. Giving some ground now, breaking free, running to the left side, getting to the sidelines. 50, 45 and out of bounds goes Johnny Talarico. That's a first down.

Down to the 40 yard line. A pickup is 17 yards and a Damon Orthodontics first down. Talarico is another guy that plays both ways. He's also defensive back on the other side. But Tom, you're out.

It's not afraid to play guys, you know, if you're good enough to play offense, he's going to put you in there and defense, whatever helps the team. That was just a nice job. Little curl route. He gave some ground, picked up a nice block and was able to get another 10. 12 yards after contact.

First down and 10. Ferris at the Tiger 41 from the left hash. Two receivers right, one left handoff. Olajoygb inside the 35, spins inside the 30. They got him around the waist and finally wrestled him down as Max Meyer, the safety, had him and finally was able to wrestle him to the ground after he gets down to the 28 for a gain of 13.

Well, this has caught LC a little bit by surprise. Very similar to what Meade did to Ferris when they played him. They came out with a completely different defense or an offense that kind of messed up. The defense got off to a great start. They were up 16 to nothing in the first eight minutes of the game.

And right now, LC's a little bit on their heels. Larry there Oil Jake. Ola. Jake, number 20, did a nice job of running the ball. And I knew, I thought.

Thank you. All right, first down and 10. They hand it again. Ola Joy Eggby off the right side this time down to about the 25 yard line before he is spilled by Lewis and Clark's defensive lineman, Dan Close. And so it'll be a gain down to the 24 of about 4 yards.

You know, he's got. He's tall, he's. He does a nice job. When he hits that hole. He.

He really kind of picks up the speed. He's doing a good job of kind of finding space and being patient and letting his offensive line create some blocks. And that makes it easy for the offensive line because you don't have to hold your block that long. Second down and eight. Talarico the slot receiver out to the left side, inside the wide receiver there, Nathan Hocking.

And they have one man split wide to the left here. And they'll throw it to the right, rather they throw to the right. And that was a miscommunication and nearly interception. And as that time, the Daniel Crumley was headed down in a little go pattern down the sidelines. And Waldo thought he was running a hitch.

Well, that was Hilburn over there, you know, at corner. And he jumped the route. He was. He looked like he was the intended receiver. The ball was just thrown way to his right or.

Yeah, his left side. And he just couldn't get two hands up on it. Had he picked that ball off Larry, he's gonna go all the way because there was nobody near him. Third down and six. Crumley splits to the right.

Two men wide to the left. Waldo out of the gun. Ola Jigby to. They fake. Nope, they give it to him.

He bounces inside the 20. First down run inside the 15 and is finally tackled in the secondary, down at about the 12, maybe the 13 yard line. And that is going to be another Damon Orthodontics. First down in a gain of 11. LC was playing pass that time.

They were a press man with two safeties over the top. And it's just a good block up the middle. Give the center and the guard on the left side a lot of credit there and they open up a hole and just a great job of getting through there, getting that first down. Good, good, good play call. Running the ball in a passing situation.

Olajoy Agby, 47 yards unofficially on six carries so far in the ballgame. First down and 10 from the 13 of Lewis and Clark. Waldo out of the gun, hands it again. Olajoy Egby off the right side inside the 10, down to about the seven yard line. It looks like maybe the six in there on the stop for LC I think was Antonio Williams.

Well, they're also setting that play up too where the quarterback can keep the football, Larry, because he, he's given the ball every time to the back. If he pulls that though, the end is collapsing. He can run to the left side all day long. There's nobody out there. Another six yards on that pickup.

So it's second down and four now for Ferris. They have it on the right hash at the Tiger 7. Scoreless game. 6. 10 remaining first quarter.

3 receivers, 1 right, 2 left, ball on the right hash. They hand it again. No, fake it. Oh, and it'll be a run to the left side and into the end zone. Touchdown for Ferris and their quarterback, Tyler Waldo.

And that was exactly the setup play. What a good call by the offensive staff for Ferris. They saw the end collapse. They were going after, you know, they were going after the back. And he just kept it.

Went right around the left side, sprinted right up the middle. By the time they reacted, he was in the end zone. A solid diet of olajoy Egby prior to that run. And Paul called it. And the point after try now for Mason.

Backlink out of the hold of Johnny Talarico. And I think Waldo might be the snapper here. It's either he or Logan Wagner that's snapping. So six nothing Ferris. 558 remaining first quarter.

Here's the pat coming. Snap back, ball spotted, kick up with a rush. And it is no good. He missed it, so we'll take a timeout. 558 left, first quarter, six nothing in favor of Ferris.

10 plays, 76 yards and Ferris gets a 7 yard rushing touchdown from Tyler Waldo and they take a six nothing lead. Heavy dose of oil. Joe Egg V on that play. Did a great job of running that and then setting up that touchdown on the quarterback. Keep going to the left side.

So good job by the offensive staff to kind of, kind of tailor an offense. And that's the first touchdown. Larry. The offense has scored in three weeks. So here comes lc, their second offensive possession here they have one receiver split to the left side.

Two men wide to the right. High snap over the head of Wyatt Potter. It's back into the end zone. Potter will scoop it up and run to the right, then throw it. And the pass is incomplete.

Great field position for the Saxons. And they're feeling pretty good because they got an offense now. They got a running back that's making some plays, quarterback that's, that's smart in terms of what they're, what he's doing. And an offensive line that's creating holes for this, you know, this offense. So kind of a renewed, revigorated, you know, football team after a couple of weeks of having some frustrations offensively.

So first down and 10. Saxons at their own 49. They lead at eight nothing. They've got two receivers split to the left side ball on the Left hash. And now the inside receiver.

Talarico will move over to the right side. So have two receivers on the right, one on the left out of the gun. This is Waldo. Fakes the handoff, fakes a pass, runs to the right, gets hit, breaks free, fires the ball out, has a. An incomplete pass through it a little bit behind the intended receiver down at the 45 yard line.

That was Alec Roland, the tight end. And the pass incomplete. But a good job by Waldo to stay alive there. Good pressure that time by lc. They came off the end there, got Waldo's face and he was running for his life.

He had two receivers kind of of the tight end who was inside. Talarika, the wide receiver on the outside running a corner route. But good coverage by this Lewis and Clark secondary. Really no place to go. Second down 10.

Saxons at their own 49. Again on the left hash. They've got hocking split to the right. Two men, wide left, pistol formation. Waldo takes the snap, hands it off olajoy Egby off the right side.

Better defense this time by LC Kiel Potter is there, he was the first guy to hit him. And then got some help there at the end from Tyler Rundgren. And it's a gain of about 4 yards. So. Gain of 6 yards.

Excuse me. Yeah, but good offensive line brought block up front and it's Depaulo and Romero, you know, doing a nice job of kind of wedging out that defensive end and defensive tackle there. They're running behind those two guys and there's creating space. You've got a manageable third down here where you didn't one play ago after that nice couple third and four ball near the center of the field at the Tiger 45 for Ferris. Saxons driving, leading eight nothing.

455 remaining, clock running. First quarter, third down and four. Ola Joy Agby off the right side, off the left side, rather, gets hit in the backfield and dropped for a loss. Nice defensive play by Rick Greaves, who brings him down back at the 46 yard line for a loss of a yard. You're right, Larry.

An excellent job by Greaves because he read that he came inside out, had good leverage and was able to wrap up with two arms and and throw him down there. And that's a stop Elsie needed because had Ferris been able to continue this thing and score again, it might have gotten ugly quick. But now the defense is giving you a chance to get the ball back to the offense and see if they can put something together. Max Meyer back deep to receive. Standing at his 10 yard line as Mason Backland is ready to punt it away.

Ferris lost the field position battle at Gonzaga Prep last week. They're hoping to gain it here. Here's a line drive kick downfield. This will be grabbed by meyer at the 8th. Here he comes up over the left side to the 15, gets out to the 20 and is stopped there.

So a low line drive kick from Backland and that allowed a little return for Meyer and the Tigers will take over at their 20 yard line. As you hear the Ferris cheerleaders and student section making a little noise behind us here. First down and 10. Tigers from the left hash fake the handoff. Wyatt Porter runs a Potter runs left side and gets stopped right at about the line of scrimmage. Might have lost part of a yard.

Pretty good defense there by Farris and I think it was the quarterback of Waldo that made the stop. Malik Roberson, who's a defensive coordinator, said a nice job with these young lads and keeping him in good position and it was just good defensive play. The end stayed his spot. He didn't crash down there. He waited and waited for the fake to the back and then the quarterback came out, held the ball and he was right there to make the tackle.

Good discipline by him. It was Logan Wagner actually that made the stop. The 280 pound senior linebacker. Second down and 10. They bring motion from Hilburn.

Throw it on a slant through the hands of the intended receiver. Probably should have been caught by Keegan Koontz, but he couldn't do it. And so it'll be third and 10. I think Koons had the yips a little bit on that one. That's.

You run a slant, you know you're going to probably get hit. But the key is if you're going to get hit, you might as well have a catch. Look the ball in and that just went right off his hands. He took a peek up field. Good throw by the quarterback.

But unfortunately now, you know, LC is behind the stakes here. Most likely a passing situation. Third and 10, they're at their own 20. Wyatt Potter, the quarterback. One out of three passing so far, unofficially for two yards.

He fades back. It's a little screen to Kiel. Potter breaks the tackle over the 20, bounces to his left 25. First down, over the 30 and out of bounds. And yeah, I was gonna say don't throw him out of bounds, but they did a job to hold up there.

And again a 13 and a Damon Orthodontics. First down on the screen. Smart play, good play call that time. Nathan Hawking was the young man that had him out of bounds and pat him on the helmet instead of throwing him down to the turf, which had been a 15 yard penalty. But that's a good call.

You think, you know, passing situation, screens, draws, you know, plays along those lines. They caught Ferris getting up field, were able to throw behind him and just a nice job of serpentining from the hash mark to the out the out of bounds area in the outside. So first down and 10 for the Tigers at the 33 yard line. They're on 33 on the left hash. Four wide receivers, two to either side.

And they will hand it off. Potter and opening off the right over the 35, over the 40, 45, 50. And is dragged down by his jersey. Once again. It was Wagner that brings him down, but not until he gets to the Ferris 48 yard line.

Gain of the 19 and a Saxons on a Tiger first down. That was a zone read that time to the right side. Just a great job by Potter. He found a seam, zipped right up the field and in an excellent tackle kind of pursuit was able to kind of grab his jersey and throw him down. But if he's able to step out of that, he may still be running.

Excellent call that time by the LC staff. So first and ten now, excuse me. For the Tigers. They are at the sacks and 48 on the left hash. On the right hash.

Rather trips to the left, one man wide to the right. Wyatt Potter to throw. Pressure coming, DePaulo after him. Another player after him. Potter to the sideline, sees it downfield and it is caught.

Wow. Down around the 20 yard line. Great catch. Coming across the middle to the far hash mark. And that's going to be a first down play for Lewis and Clark.

And I think it was Cade Conklin. Conklin came all the way from the left side, all the way across the field to the right side. And quarterback for LC was able to buy time. He, he was, you know, basically in trouble, rolling right big time. He had two Ferris defenders chasing him before he stepped over the, you know, the, the first down marker or the, the, the spot where you're supposed to be.

Threw that ball back across the field. Which is kind of a. No, no. But a heck of a catch and a big play by the Tigers. They're down to the 22 yard line of Ferris and they go to the Power I formation here.

No wide receivers. And I think we're going to get timeout for LC because if they had taken the snap there, they may have been called for an illegal substitution. So I had to take timeout out. It's eight. Nothing in favor of the Saxons with 218 remaining to play here in the first quarter. Little bit of a role reversal between these two teams. You think normally Ferris is your passing team. They've done it for many, many years and LC is traditionally a running team.

Right now Ferris is having success on the ground running the football. LC's having success through the air throwing it. So. So a little bit of a switch here between these two teams in terms of their fluffs. 39 passing yards on this drive so far out of the 58 that Lewis and Clark has had.

And again they go out of the Power I, two fullbacks basically with a tailback behind and they will run it. Potter off the left side inside the 20 and is taken down as he gets to the 17, maybe the 18 yard line. We'll see where the will end up spotting it here. That'll be a gain of about four, maybe five yards in. On the tackle that time was Johnny Talarico for Ferris.

Tallerico's been busy both offensively and defensively. He's an excellent defensive player as well. Romero is up front. He's doing a nice job of kind of clogging the hole up the middle. He's tough to get out of there.

Gain a five on the play, second and five. Kiel Potter again off the left side trying to bounce to the outside and he might get to the 16. And that's it. Again, Tallarico, the first guy there got a lot of help from the red shirted Saxons. Gain of a yard.

Yeah, nice job as well in terms of guys making plays. PRESTON Newcome, number 44 also came up and along with three or four of his other buddies so excellent team tackling there on defense by the Saxons. Big third down here for lc. See if they can convert, keep this drive alive. So third down and about four yards.

Maybe not quite four yards for lc. Again out of the power I Wyatt Potter fakes it, rolls to the right under pressure, fires it downfield off the hands of his receiver and I think he'd have been out of bounds anyway down inside the 10 yard line. So that'll bring up fourth down and three or four yards. I think that was David Dunlap number one over there. He's trying to get one foot down covered by Tanani.

Tinani was right in his hip. But you're right, I don't think you'd have been able to get that that down there. But let's see if they go for this here on fourth down. Looks like they're going to ball at the 16. They need to take it inside the 13 yard line.

But I think what I'm trying to say is I think they took more plays than that so I think I might have been play writing it down. So at any rate they drive down the field, they get to the 17 yard line. So was a 63 yard drive and the field goal is good and so it is an 8:3, game. Here is Cook with the run forward in the boot downfield. Good strong kick.

This is going to go to the one yard line where is fumbled. Picked up over the 10 to the 15. This is Newcomb and he is hogtied and brought down at about the 15 yard line by Jeremiah Hilburn. And that will be at the 15 yard line. But again, Ferris having problems in the kicking game, catching a kickoff well, and all you had to do is just kind of stand there, take one step back.

You're gonna get the ball in the 20 yard line because he'd have been in the end zone. So, you know, you gotta look that thing in and sometimes the lights, sometimes it's tough to pick it up. I've, I've returned kicks and punts and if you don't, you know, follow that thing all the way in, you're gonna have problems handling. So it's not as easy as it looks, I'll just say that. Absolutely.

Ferris starts at their own 13 yard line here and they go with a. Their old double wing formation. And they've thrown away on a dive into the middle. And they get out over the 15 to about the 17 yard line. That was Romero, wasn't it?

I think it was. Might have been Romero running the ball. How'd you like to tackle him? That would not be fun. Let's see as they line up again.

Yeah, that was DJ Romero. He's in the backfield here running as the fullback. So that was a run out to the 17 for a gain of four for Romero. Second down and six. Waldo dropped the snap, it's loose.

And I think Lewis and Clark has it. Wow. And they do it is recovered in there by, by Ben Schuerman. Ben Schuerman gets it. And Lewis and Clark off the fumble, takes over in the red zone at the Ferris 12.

That's what we talked about, those kinds of mistakes. You talked about it. Buffed punt on the, on the kick return. And then a fumble basically on a pitch. And LC is able to recover that thing.

And now they put themselves in great field position. Let's see if they take a shot, try to score right off the bat. The balls on the 12 yard line. Big defensive play for Lewis and Clark. Nice job by Sherman to recover that fumble.

So first down and 10. Lewis and Clark starting at the Ferris 12. Shotgun formation. Wyatt Potter looks at a blitz, fakes the handoff, runs to the left side, cuts up field, Makes one man miss. Makes two men miss inside the five.

A flag, I think maybe flew in there. It did. He is down to the one, but I think we're going to get an illegal block here on Lewis and Clark. And so instead of first and goal from the one, Ferris comes away with a football. But I think the fumble came after he was down.

But there is a marker down and I think it's going to be on LC. Yeah, and that's, that's the other thing that LC's had problems with in terms of penalties. They get a great break, defense gets a turnover. You come in, it looked like you're going to have an excellent play and then you have a hanky hold there and they're going to move that thing back. And what happens as the.

As Potter was trying to stretch across the line to score, he. I think he was already down, but that ball popped out. Ferris actually recovered, but he was down by contact. Block in the back. Is the call on defense?

No, I'd say you got his. He point the wrong directions pointed. You got his directions wrong. I don't think you can have a defensive block in the back. I would be very surprised.

Now the officials are talking it over again. He started the official, the referee started, tell us what was what and now they're having more conversations. So if the ball's on the one foot line, whether they get a four inch penalty, well, it'll be marked off from the spot of the penalty. So. And it's not on Ferris, it's on lc.

Okay. He did point the wrong way. There we go. Good job, buddy. Yep, block in the back on the offense.

So they'll mark it off from the spot of the foul, which is the eight yard line. And that'll mark it back to the 18. So it'll be first down and 16 here coming for LC. Stop into the swinging doors at the corner of Francis and Moreau before or after the game to meet, eat and have fun. I was just there on Tuesday.

Motion coming from the right and they pop it forward. This is Hilburn trying to get to the outside, gets inside the 15 trying to get to the corner, does inside the 10 and is tossed out of bounds. Where will the officials put him out right about the 10, I think looks like the 9, I'm going to say. And so that's going to be a gain of about eight yards and it'll bring up third down and around what, seven. That was a good play.

I like that where they bring motion in from the right side, going left and he just pitches the ball right from that. Isn't that a pass? Yep. So I mean that's a one foot pass. If you do that a lot, you're gonna have a really good completion percentage.

So nice job. That was a good play. Third down about seven now from the eight yard line and there's markers down and I think this is going to be unfair. Yeah, I think he had a neutral zone violation on the, the right end over there. He got fired up, stepped into the thing and the official took a while to get his flag out of his pants.

And so a penalty. That'll mark it off from the nine inside the four, the five short of the four and it'll bring up now third down and about two, I believe. I think DJ Romero is, or, I'm sorry, Malik Roberson is saying, hey, we thought somebody moved on LC sign. Can you go and confer with your other officials and see if that's the case or not? I don't think it's going to work out.

I think they're going to move the penalty and it's going to be five yards and that's what's happening now. And they will walk it right down inside the five. Are they going to put it on the four or they're going to put it between the four and the five? That's what we're waiting to see. Now the umpire is yet to place the ball.

Oh, and the coaches are yelling, yelling at the officials. The officials are yelling at the coaches. Now everything's fine. All things are right in the world. So third down and two from the four yard line, power eye formation.

Potter, the quarterback takes the snap, hands it off to one of the fullbacks who drives into the middle and I believe might have the first down. And they have him clear into the end zone. Did he get in there? There's a pile in the end zone and there's a pile at the 2. And I think where the ball carrier is is in the pile short of the two yard line.

And so it's going to be a gain of a yard. It looks like it'll bring down four or bring up fourth down and another yard to go. That was a see. Boy, I thought the same thing. I thought he scored it into the end zone, Larry and scored.

But he was short. He got tackled on about the two and a half. Like I said, they had two piles of players there and I'm not sure who the fullback is in there. And here's fourth down in a yard. This time they hand it to Kil Potter and he breaks into the end zone.

Touchdown for the Tiger. Keel Potter, the tailback out of the power eye. And he takes it in for the score from three yards out. And Lewis and Clark takes the lead with 10:53 remaining. First half, it's 9, 8.

That was just a good drive. Excellent job on the run, you know, for LC and just power football. They got there kind of between the tackles. Smash mouth and had a nice little fly sweep, did some things to get outside. But realistically this drive was.

Was won between the tackles and that's kind of what else he wants to do do. And so Keel Potter with the three yard rushing touchdown. And now the point after try. And they have a different kicker in there now Mitchell Simpson is in there as the kicker and now the officials are going to talk things over again. So I'm not sure what happened to Cook.

He came on and kicked a tremendous field goal earlier, but now they have another man in there kicking. I mean Cobb. Oh, Cobb, yes. I'm sorry, I wrote down Cook. Wonder if he got hurt.

I don't know. So Cobb kicked the earlier field goal, but now it is Mitchell Simpson that's in there for the pat try. Is Simpson a senior? He is. So maybe this is an opportunity to get the senior a chance to to boot a point here.

So whatever the concern was from the officials, they've chatted about it and figured it out. Low snap, ball spotted. Here's the kick and this one is good. We'll take a timeout. 10:53 remaining to play here in the first half.

And so it'll be a 20 yard line start for the Ferris Saxons. That's a pretty good weapon in high school when you have a kicker with the ball into the end zone.

Well, that eliminates one of the big plays you can have in terms of returns. So if you can take that out, you can kick it deep every time. That's awesome. That makes the special teams coach very happy and those guys running down under the kick very happy as well. So Ferris got off to a great start out 8 nothing with a touchdown and a safety, but been pretty quiet, said L.

C. i think got a little bit grumpy and they came back with the last 10 points. So let's see what Ferris can do now. And they're back into this double wing again with the fullback. That's Romero, the 285 pounder.

Now they toss it on a sweep run into the right side. Olajoy egby outside the 20. He goes and is written down as he gets to the 25. A gain of five yards. That's been such a good weapon because.

Because it's hard to emulate that in practice when you're, when you're having to kind of game plan against that. So they can go into that wing tee and then they come out and run a spread. Then they go back to the wing tee and it really messes with, you know, with timing and also spacing for that defensive front. D. J.

romero again, the fullback they have. Oh, the Joabi is the wing to the left and I think Talarico the wing to the right. And they will hand it off this time. Romero, he plows into the middle and gets to about the 28. They may give him to the 29.

We will see. Looks like. No, it'll be the 28. So the big man runs it for three and brings up third and two. There's never been one big guy that's been able to carry a football that hasn't enjoyed that.

You're telling me that Mr. Romero is not enjoying carrying the football right now instead of being in the trenches? DJ Romero, 285 pound senior and he is the fullback now in this wing tee offense. The wing set to either side again. Third down and two at the 28.

Everybody in tight for Ferris, basically daring them to run. And Romero does run and he goes plowing into the middle again. And he will be close to a first down. We will see where they put him down. One official on the near side here as we look at it, looks like he's short of the 30.

But now he wobbles over the 30 and it looks like it'll be put at the 30, which will be good for a first down. Yeah, but the official on the short side of the field has him at the 29. So there's a little confusion here in terms of where this ball is spotted. So trying to figure out they will put it to the 29. So we had it down and one something, I guess.

Yep. Knee down first, evidently. So now fourth and one for the Saxons. Looks like they're gonna go for it. Trailing only by two was still better than nine minutes left.

First half. Let's see if they try to bounce the ball outside this. This time maybe go to the wide side. Because fair or LC is so packed in there tightly. They're gonna take a timeout, talk about it.

And so they will take a timeout. We will take a timeout. 8:50 their time. The clock was still running, running. 855 remaining to play.

Max Meyer stands inside his own 40 here to return. High snap over the head of Backland is rolling back inside the five. It rolls back to the two and it'll be covered by Backlin there and Lewis and Clark will take over on another Ferris mistake and they will take over right around the two yard line. Wow, that happened at the Mead game where he snapped the ball over Backlin's head, ran into the end zone, were able to recover it for a safety and that kind of led to the the 160 lead. That again almost identical.

Similar spot on the field as well and just launch that ball right up over his head. He never had a chance. Smart play to actually recover it. But now you've put your defense in a very difficult situation. Having defend 2 yards well the fumble on the previous possession set up LC at the Ferris 12.

Now the snap over the head of the punter puts LC at the Ferris 2. Here they operate again out of the power eye. They hand it to the fullback, he goes crashing into the middle and that'll be a touchdown for Lewis and Clark. And I'm trying to see who that is. It might be Matt here and Matt here, if I'm right, takes it in on the rushing touchdown from two yards out and that puts Lewis and Clark on top by the score of 16 to 8.

Let's see who comes out as the pat man here and it's going to be once again Mitchell Simpson to boot. This point after this is the first time we've seen LC this year on the game, so we're not sure how they divvy up their kicks, but Simpson boots it through again and with 843 remaining to play first half, it's now 178 in favor of a Lewis and Clark. Well, you know when you look at, you look at the last two plays, basically the two touchdowns they've scored, they've gone a whopping 14 yards, Larry. I mean, you know when you fumble the ball you turn it over and give the offense a chance to come in and score, which they did on the second drive before this one. And then the bad snap over the head, that's tough to defend. And so here's the kickoff downfield. This is going to be fielded by Olajoy egby at the 3 yard 5 yard line, takes it over the 15, breaks a tackle, gets close to the 20 and has run out of bounds over across the way.

We'll see where they spot him whether it be the 19 or the 20. And it was Talarico on the return, not Ola Joy Agby. And they'll put him right at the 20. It looks like first down and 10. Joe Ireland's pretty fired up.

He's also the defensive coordinator as well as the head coach and he has his team playing really well right now. There's a lot of motion on the LC sideline and Ferris is little upset about the last two possessions in terms of what's happened special teams wise and offensive wise with their turnovers. Well, two turnovers and it was here on the two yard rushing touchdown there for Lewis and Clark. So it is now a 17 to 8 game and on first down here's a handoff. Olajoy Egby is smothered in the backfield.

The guy that kind of got in there to break everything up was Schnorman again, the guy that recovered the fumble. The 245 pound defensive tackle, recovered the fumble a couple of possessions ago. So a loss of two for Ola Joy Egby. They're starting to figure out what, what Ferris is doing. Ferris is gonna have to widen this field a little bit, try to maybe throw the ball outside or get outside because right now there's Lewis and Clark's defensive front is starting to handle the offensive line for ferris.

Loss at 2, second down and 12, they have two receivers split to the left side, one man wide to the right and out of the shotgun formation, it's Waldo. Throws it out to the left sidelines, has a catch at the 25 and getting wrapped up and tossed out of bounds at the 26. Keel Potter is the man that made the stop on Kobe Smith the receiver, but give him to the 27 yard line it looks like for a gain of nine. Toby Smith, three three star athlete, a heck of a basketball player and also catcher for the baseball team as well, is out there catching the football, doing a nice job. So third down now and four yards to go for Ferris.

We'll call it third and three. Actually here's a run. Olajoy Egby off the right side and he's gonna be close to the first down. Looks like they're gonna spot him short of the 30. And a flag is down anyway, so we'll see what the marker is about.

Looks like he'll be a little short of a first down. But if the penalty is on Ferris wouldn't matter. It wouldn't. Yes, exactly. It would not matter.

It is a hold on Ferris. My guess is they'll accept it because it would be fourth and a foot and the penalty would be marked off from the spot of the foul, which looks like it's right at about. So that would mark it back to the 20 and it would set up third and 10. So that's going to be their choice, fourth and a foot or third and 10. You know, that's an interesting situation.

I would push it back and trust your defense saying that they're not going to get 10 yards on this, you know, and that or you say, oh, you know what, you got to make the decision you're going to go for it. We've stuffed you, you know, the last time you tried to do this thing, so. And you've also given us two fumbles here, you know, and set us up in great field position. So that, that's an interesting call that the LC staff has to figure out. I would decline it, to be honest.

Are you? Well, I Would have accepted it and Ferris, Elsie and Joe Ireland declines it. So it'll be fourth down and about a half a yard for a first down. See if they try to quarterback sneak this thing just, you just need a foot, you know, so that'll be interesting and you know, try to wedge block between your center and your guard and you've got to create some space but LC's doing a nice job with that front and they've kept Ferris on their heels not going to quarterback sneak it, which was a surprise.

Waldo is 6, 4, 220 and they're gonna have a hard time just getting the playoff. They're misaligned, they're scrambling. Now Waldo takes the shotgun snap, they hand it off all the joy Agby head in the backfield. He will not make it. Lewis and Clark is going to get a four down turnover.

Wow. I'm not sure why they didn't put the 220 pound quarterback under center and just wedge it forward. They've got a huge offensive line but instead it's a play that takes a long time to develop. Ola Joe Egby has stopped short. Great job by the Tiger defense.

It was heel here, rather down there on the bottom of the pile here, the middle linebacker that scored the last touchdown. No, that is Dunlap down inside the 15 yard line and he has stopped near the 10 and that'll be good for a Damon Orthodontics first down and a pickup at near 20 yards and you're gonna have a targeting penalty to boost because the side judge, the headlinesman on the LC side threw a late flag in there and it looked like the safety came in and kind of lowered his head.

I would not be surprised to see a targeting penalty as well. The officials are talking it over. Four of the five officials working. It's a 19 yard pickup to Dunlap down to the 11 yard line and the officials discussing it. Now a fifth official will come in to the conversation.

No replay here. So they can't go back and look at something. So they're gonna have to talk it over, see what everybody saw and try to figure it out here. And the officials pick up the flag. They say no foul. I didn't think it was targeting. I thought he came in with a shoulder and that, you know. And again, I understand what the officials are trying to do.

They're trying to keep making safety first. But when you get everybody together, you had a back judge come in. I think he overruled him and said no, that was a good legal hit and I think that's right call. Good job by this officiating crew. So the 19 yard pickup down to the 11.

First down and 10 from there now for Lewis and Clark. Potter, the quarterback takes a high snap, swings it out quickly, has a catch. I think this hillburn inside the 10. He's to the five and close to a first down before he has run out of bounds down around the two yard line, maybe the one. We'll see where the official spot him a gain, a nine, maybe 10 yards.

Good hard running by Hilburn. He broke a tackle there about the seven yard line and it took two guys on and finally they were able to knock him out of bounds there. But that's a good strong run. I'd throw that more often to him. He looks good coming out of the backfield.

So against Hillburn with the catch and a gain of nine and it'll be second down and one. And now here is back in as the fullback and this power, I hear the fullback, Potter, the tailback and a wing set to the left. They hand it to Potter this time off the left side, breaks a tackle and drives into the end zone for a touchdown. A touchdown for Lewis and Clark Keel. Potter running off the left side broke a tackle at about the line of scrimmage.

And Waltz is into the end zone for his second rushing touchdown. This one a two yard run. And with 546 remaining. First half, it's now 238 in favor of LC and LC start to put their imprint. Four straight scores now going back to the 101 mark of the first quarter.

They have scored four times now and really doing it. Three of those have come off either fumble recoveries or a defensive stop. So they've gotten the ball back, they've been able to flip the field and now they punched it in with their third consecutive running time touchdown. And Simpson ready to boot it for the PAT to try to make it a 24 to 8 ballgame with 546 remaining here in the half. Here's the kick.

The STCU touchdown drive recap. Three plays, 29 yards and it was capped by the Keel Potter two yard rushing touchdown. And it's now a 24 to eight ball game in favor of Lewis and Clark. Fumble. A 12 yard scoring drive.

Bad snap on the punt. Two yard scoring drive and four down turnover. 29 yard scoring drive. And so here in the third in the second quarter, three touchdowns in just over six minutes of play. And their total yardage, 43 yards for three touchdowns.

And he went from an 8, 3, you know, deficit for Lewis and Clark to a 24 to 8 lead with those, with those plays. Here's the kickoff. Olajoy eggby from the 3 yard line up the right side at the 10 to the 15. Has a little seam across the 20. Bulls o man over, goes over the 25 and gets out to about the 28 yard line.

So good return by G Day olajoy Egby. And it'll be first down for Ferris out at their own 20. Well, I think LC has started to figure out what Ferris is trying to do. Ferris is going to have to kind of mix some things up. I'd like to see them spread the field a little bit, use those tall wide receivers, you know, run some bubble screens, run some flares out of the backfield.

Just like what LC just did on that last possession. They hit the back coming out and he did a nice job of catching it, breaking some tackles, getting it down to the two, setting up the touchdown. Run on the next play, Waldo the quarterback, olajoy Egby to his right in the backfield. Ball on the right hand. Two receivers left, one to the right.

LC showing blitz. Here they come. Waldo drops the ball and LC's got it. Waldo, that snap was good. I don't know what he was doing, he just dropped the football.

And Lewis and Clark recovers here again hauls this one in at the 23 yard line. That is his second fumble recovery of the ballgame. Well, he's been the right guy at the right time and you know when you fumble the ball, that's one thing, but he just kind of stood there and looked at, at it jump on the darn thing and recover it. But here did the exact same thing he did the last time they had a, you know, a fumble and just an excellent job of getting in there making a play. And I would not be surprised to see if LC now takes a shot.

Try to score right now. And so from the 24 yard line, back to throw. Potter lobs it down the left side, has a man open under thrown and the pass incomplete. And a flag is going to come in on Ferris as this pass was under thrown. And really more bad luck than anything for the corner back there because it was so far under thrown.

The receiver basically stopped and the defensive back ran into him. You know that was just, you know, that wasn't a back shoulder throw, that was just a short throw. But you know you've got to be able to. What happened is he played the man said of the ball and that's tough when you're beat. They ran a wheel route on him and they took a shot.

Elsie went for the touchdown right off the bat. Officials saw that. They're going to throw the flag. That's going to give them a first down via the penalty. So the pass interference is going to take the ball from the 24 down to the 12, half the distance to the goal.

And we have more conversation from the officials. I don't think the official on the Ferris side is too happy to be getting back over here. They've been chewing on him a little bit here in this game. And so half the. It's a 15 yard penalty.

No half the distance to the goal. And the ball we marked down to the eight yard line. It looks like from the 23 it is 15 yards and a first and goal situation now from the eight. So Farris guilty of the 15 yard penalty on the pass interference. First and goal now.

Tigers at the eight ball on the left hanging and they Will run it. Potter bounces outside on the right side trying to get to the corner. He does. He's at the five cuts up field into the end zone for a touchdown. He makes Jacob Tanani miss at about the two yard line.

But we have a marker down, a couple of them in the middle of the field. And that's probably coming back. Legal block. I think on the inside. You had some, you know, some fisticuffs going on there.

Both a Ferris player and a LC player were getting after it. I think it was Preston Newcomb who got. Might have gotten chopped on that or illegally blocked. He didn't take very kindly to that. Got up and had a little pushy, pushy shovey shovee going on.

3 FM. I think this officiating crew is a bunch of English majors or something. They really like to talk to one another and maybe they didn't get enough at Social Hour earlier today. This is going to be a holding penalty and a mark off of 10 yards from the spot of the foul, it looks like. Look at you breaking out adjudication there.

I like that. Was that your word of the day today, Mr. Weir? I don't know. We may have some other words.

We'll see off air probably, I'm sure. But yeah, there was a penalty and that's where I think it happened. It happened right in the middle of the field and that's where you, you know, I think he just got grabbed and thrown down. So they moved that back and that's a big penalty on lc. See if they were able to overcome that.

They got 15 yards on a pass interference. Penalty back judge went the wrong way. Was starting to go, you know, towards the LC side. Said the faro side. He's now lined up correctly.

So an 11 yard penalty from the line of scrimmage. 10 yards from the spot of the foul, which was the nine yard line on the yard behind the line of scrimmage. And so it's first and goal now from the 19 for Lewis and Clark. Ball on the right hash. They'll throw a cloak screen out.

Dunlap inside the 15 makes a man, Ms. Tonan. He gets down inside the 10 and is finally knocked out of Bounds, he gets to the nine. So they pick up the 10 yards they lost on the penalty. Boy, good waggle by Dunlap.

He came up there and just did a head and shoulder and ran right by Tanani there. But the safeties were able to come over and finally knock him down. But that was a good play to get some of those yards back that, that Elsie lost on that holding penalty. I have Wyatt Potter at 8 out of 11 passing for 87 yards. He's played well so far in this ball game.

Second and goal now from the nine, ball on the right hash Hillburn in motion, a little pop pass to him. Running the sweep to the left side east of the 10. And he takes a big hit and is knocked sideways and goes out of bounds inside the five or inside the 10 yard line about the seven or eight. I think that was olajoy Egby that put a big pop on him and knocked him backwards back to the seven. That looked like demolition derby there.

He had two cars going, you know, full speed, running into each other and you know, oil to Eggby went one way and the other and that was a good play. Good hit. He came all the way from the other side of the field, Larry, to make that, that tackle. He's played very hard so far for Ferris. Technically a two yard passing gain there because there's a little pop pass forward.

So third and goal now from the seven for Lewis and Clark. They hand it off. This is Potter off the left side. Keel gets inside the five, drives down to the one. And so it'll be fourth down and goal from the one yard line now for Lewis and Clark.

Well, decision time now for offensive coordinator Trevor Mott and company at lc. I think they're gonna go forth. They've been running to the left side, using their big backs there. They've done a nice job. Potter scored a couple times, Hare scored once.

Let's see if they come back and try to do it again on the one yard line. This is a big play. They're gonna take a timeout and chat about it. And I think that's smart because you got 409 to go here. And if LC is able to punch it in, it's gonna be tough sledding for the score.

Ferris, the team that wants to talk about it though, on fourth down and goal from the one, they've got to get a stop here. They're down 16 points. If they go down by 23, was still a lot of time left here in the first half. That would be almost disastrous. Well, Offense and special teams have not done themselves a service.

Bunch of places around town, you can see them. So will LC spread it out? Well, they go with the power I, that's been what they've been running down in the goal line type situations. And go they go to the left side. They've had success behind that, that left guard, the center, left guard, left tackle.

They've done a very nice job over there creating some space. Mason Smith, a 220 pound junior. Antonio Williams a 220 pound junior on the left side of that offensive line. So a couple of juniors on that side. That bodes well for the future for lc.

I agree. And they do go to the power eye with here the fullback, Potter the tailback and a wing set to the left. Fourth down and goal from the one. They hand it to here muscling up the middle trying to get into the end zone. They get the dogpile going forward and touchdown Lewis and Clark.

He got some help from I think Potter and also a guard that just kept pushing him as a good surge by Ferris. But they got stood up and then they got pushed backwards and that was enough to get him in the end zone. That was a big, nice big drive. And again it came on a, you know, on another, another fumble. So another fourth down touchdown.

That's their second here of the fourth of the four touchdowns they've scored here in the first half. And so now it is 30 to 8 and a man down for Lewis and Clark. Clark Gabe Daniel, 235 pound sophomore. The right tackle is sitting and now he will get up and come off under his own power. Well, this has been a great quarter for Lewis and Clark.

They've done an awesome job turning the ball over. I mean you've got basically you've got three fumbles and a bad snap. You know, from that standpoint that's four turnovers in essence in a span of about about eight minutes. And they've been able to convert all those to touchdowns. So give LC credit.

Looks like they're gonna go and kick the extra point here. Yep, that's what they'll do. And we have a new man coming on for Ferris as Romero. The 285 pounder will take over in the middle of the field here to try to block this point after Attempt. It is 30 to 8 with 358 remaining to play here in the first half.

And the point, after trying to make it 31 to 8, Simpson again. High snap, ball spotted kick, up kick. Good. And so now it is 31 to 8 with still 358. That's four touchdowns and eight minutes and two seconds for Lewis and Clark.

Three yards, two yards, two yards and two yards. They're consistent, aren't they? Yeah. 12 to 29 and 23 in all actuality, in terms of no touchdown, we have the runs. Yeah.

Three, two, two and one. Yeah, that was one. That was about one. Okay, well, and I think there were several. They did it fourth on fourth down twice.

Didn't they score twice? Yeah, yeah, that's impressive. Way to go, lc. They're figuring things out. They kind of have a.

Had a rough sled and in Joe Ireland's first year, you know, doing a nice job. Dave Hughes was up here and in our pregame and I thought he had a great chat, talked about kind of what was going on, you know, around town. Interesting perspective. And it's good to hear that. You know, this has been tough on administrators, on families, on kids, you know, all the stuff that's going on.

And it's just great to see these kids out here competing and having. Having folks that are able to watch them do that. Four plays, 23 yards. The here 1 yard rushing touchdown gets them the score. And that is your touchdown drive Recap brought to you by stcu.

Here's kickoff that bounces into the end zone. It hit well short of the end zone, but bounced over the head of Ola Joy Egby into the end zone for a touchback. And Ferris takes over at their own 20. But job number one here is don't fumble the ball. Yeah, well, I mean, you.

It just you, You've set up, you had it going. You're up 8 to nothing. And then you did a pretty good job on defense and kind of held, you know, LC to a, you know, to a field goal from 34 yards out. And then fumble. Bad snap, fourth down, stop.

Fumble. I mean, it just. You've killed yourself. You've basically put your defense in a position they can't defend. You can't defend it.

Three turnovers here in this ball game. First down and 10. They spread. Well, they don't spread the field. They have two receivers, split left and a wing set to the right.

They hand it off all the joy. Agby getting outside on the right side, crosses the 20 and is knocked off his feet after a gain. Of about 3 yards or so on the play. Wyatt Potter looked like it was a. He was.

Well, no. Who was that? I think that was Graves again that made the stop. Well, jb, he's. He's been kind of the workhorse here for Ferris in this first half.

And so LC is kind of centered in on him. They're basically keying him all over the place. It's time to spread this out and give some other guys an opportunity. I think you're going to have some success because they're loading up on number 23 yard pickup. Second and seven now for the Saxons.

One receiving, two tight ends in the ball game. One receiver to either side. And they will hand it again. Olajoy Egby off the right side lowers his shoulder. It gets maybe to the 25 yard line before he's wrestled down.

Keel Potter was over there, I think along with Graves again to make the stop. Gain of a couple of yards, it'll bring up third down and five. So another two yards. I have Olajoy Agby so far at 68 on 15 carries here in this ballgame. But he is a countdown for 68 out of the unofficially.

104 yards for Ferris in this game. So third and five, clock counting down. 240 remaining to play. First half, 31 8. Lewis and Clark, they have scored 31 consecutive points.

Third and five. Two receivers go left to throw. Waldo fires it to the left side, to the sidelines. Pass incomplete. Just barely overthrew the intended receiver.

Calorico. Running kind of a post corner type route there. And so it'll be fourth down. Good pressure that time, you know, up the middle on the outside. Brennan Rodgers, number 53 for LC kind of got the quarterback's face there and he wasn't able to extend Larry.

And I think that hurt him a little bit on the accuracy. He had the right guy. Talarico was open. He had a defensive back kind of on his hip. If that ball would have been thrown just a little bit more towards him instead of towards the sidelines, that would have been a big completion.

But again, and this has been interesting to say the least also season, the snap to the punter hopefully can figure that one out. I think this is Keaton Castle. That's into a punt. This one away. It's a high boot downfield.

It's going to hit around 50, bounce backward into the 40. Picked up at the 37 by the deep man Meyer. He will run out over the 45 yard line, get over the 50 and is finally knocked off his feet at the 49. Good hard run by Meyer. And once again LC will be in Ferris territory at the Saxon 49 with 212 remaining to play here in the half.

They had basically the first time they got a, you know, the turnover on that last drive. They did a wheel route. They had a pass interference on Ferris and then a hold kind of knocked LC back. But they were still able to score on fourth down. So let's see, you know, every time they have a big play, good field position, they take a shot.

Let's see if they come back, do it again. Got plenty of time. You got 212 here to go in the, in the half. Up 31. 8 fifth straight Lewis and Clark possession taken over inside Ferris territory.

This whole second quarter has been played on the Ferris end of the field. Was like that last week against prop. Exactly. Two men split to the right, one to the left and they will run a little reverse. This time it is the wide receiver getting inside the 40 yard line.

Down to the 35 and out of bounds goes Hilburn against Hilburn on a reverse. Gets it down to the 34 and that's a gain of 15 and a Damon Orthodontics. First down right and Newcomb came inside. So he got kind of sealed on the inside and they ran a reverse, ran right around him. He didn't even see it.

By the time he looked up, it was already down the field. So you got to be able to kind of look back. One thing they always teach you at the end is always look back for action coming your way. And I think he took an inside route and didn't do that. Hilburn is the inside receiver that trips out to the left side and he'll get on a little screen pass inside the 35.

Down to the 30 and is finally knocked off his feet at the 29. Taken down by Jarrett Pearman after a gain of 5. Nice job by Pierman on the open field tackle. They're just doing a good job. But again LC's able to move the ball passing.

They've. They put in some reverses. They have that little fly sweep where they pitch the ball forward. They have basically been working Louis or Ferris from sideline to sideline and it's been paying off unofficially. Potter has completed seven straight passes in this ball game.

Clock counting down inside a. 90 seconds remaining to play. First half. And it's second down and five now for the Tigers at the Saxon 29 and they will hand it off to here. Bart barrels up the middle and he will be close to first down yardage as he gets to the 24.

Got hit low around the ankles by Logan Wagner, who held on for dear life. And now a flag comes down late as we've got a lot of people tangled up here. Is that Depaulo again in the middle of things? It is, I think for Ferris. And we'll see whether this penalty will be on LC or if it'll be on Ferris.

He might have a rejections too. A couple of guys got locked up like a couple of Rams and DePaulo will come off. Tom, you're out. Is in front of him making sure that he hears something and the officials will talk it over. So three officials in on this conversation.

It was a run, I believe, for first down yardage down to the 24 yard line. And then some guys got hooked up and it looked like Rams, you know, gathering their horns, get locked and they had hands in each other's face masks. And that's never a good sign. So you could have, you know, it should be, to be honest, it should be unsportsmanlike, going both ways because both were guilty. You know, you didn't see who the first one, you know, threw the first one or whatever the heck it is.

But you could potentially have ejections on this. And if that's the case, I think you have to sit out the next game. So we'll see. Maybe they mark out 15 one way and 15 the other and say bad people. Don't do that.

Don't be angry. Don't get no fight. Don't want to get kicked out. And conversation continuing on. We've had a lot of chattering, haven't we?

I'm telling you what I have not ever heard of officials thinking they get paid for the word. But that might be the situation here. And I'm being snarky here, but these guys are doing a nice job to get together and to talk it over. So unsportsmanlike on Lewis and Clark and unsportsmanlike on Ferris. The defense.

Those penalties offset. Penalties offset. That's exactly how they should have done it. Oh, now what do we have? No ejections.

Okay, good, good, good. That's it. Stop the rest and let's play. It was the center, Christian Osterman for Lewis and Clark and DePaulo, the defensive tackle for Ferris, who locked horns there. I don't know why else.

Oh, they. Now they're marking it out. Okay, so they're marking it each way. I'm not really sure why you're doing that. Just leave it at the spot.

It was 15 yards going back. It's 15 yards to the same spot you had. And we have more conversation. I think he got lost. He was on the wrong.

He was walking the wrong way and. Yeah, 15. I don't know why they do that. 15 and 15. Well, maybe he was cramping up or something.

Something and need the exercise. Right? Yeah, but that doesn't make any sense because now they've got a first down because the ball's down on the 24 yard line. Exactly. But they didn't need to go 15 one way and 15 the other because it was the same.

I know. The same distance, so just leave it there. So that. That's weird. I know that's a mechanic that they have and they have to do that, but just say, okay, I'm pretending like I'm marching off 15 because I'm coming right back here.

All right. So here is the running back set to the right of the quarterback, Wyatt Potter. He gets the call, slants off the left side and gets down close to the 20 for a run of about four yards. And we have 50 plus seconds remaining to play. And the clock is running.

The Tigers have three timeouts that they can use, too, so they have plenty of time, but they're gonna let the clock continue to run here. So a gain of four for here. And I really don't understand this. They still have 20 yards to get into the end zone. And they're going back into a huddle.

Down to 30 seconds remaining. They get to the line of scrimmage. Here's the snap. Another handoff here. Is stopped for a loss this time.

Nice defense by Farris. And now they take a timeout. And now another flag comes in late in the whole proceedings. Logan Wagner made the tackle, but now what's this flag all about? Came in well after the play.

Might be a dead ball penalty, and that would really hurt lc. Well, we'll see who the fouls on the loss on the play was two yards for here. Back to the 22. And now more conversation as the officials will gather their information. And at some point in time, they will let us know what the information is they gathered.

They're having a tea out there right now. We have an early flight to make tomorrow. Fellas, let's get moving here. They. Well, I do and so do you.

Well, I hope so. I'm on the same plane you are and you're picking me up. So. Yeah. So more conversing is happening.

23 and 1, 10 seconds of what we're down to here now we've gotten the. During the play unsportsmanlike Ferris or Lewis and Clark. And it's on the same guy that just got the penalty. Osterman. Wow.

So Osterman has been ejected. The center. That's. And that's somebody. That was the second one in the row.

Didn't he have the last one too? Yeah, he got hooked up with. And it's during the play. So it's not a dead ball foul. So the down won't advance, which is probably a good thing for LC.

The ball we marked back to the 37 yard line. So it'll be second down and 23. Well that's their center. That's not good for Lewis and Clark and the fact that he had a play to cool down. He didn't cool down and that's.

Coaches have got to go over and talk to him about that. And hopefully there's not a penalty for next week because of the ejection. So the penalty. Back to the 23 yard or excuse me, back to the 37 yard line. And it's second down and long here.

Second and 23 and Potter will throw, wants to go deep, deep over the middle into coverage. Picked off down inside the 10 yard line. And I think it was olajoy Egby that got it. It was either olajoy Egby or hocking. And it is hocking.

They gets the interception down inside the 10 yard line. So that'll be a turnover and it'll take us basically to the end of the half with 16 and 4, 10 seconds remaining in the half. It'll be one play and that'll be that. Nice job by Hawking because he read the quarterback all the way. They're running a one man post.

Corner was over the top. He played it perfectly. Saw the ball, didn't buy the action to the right side, came back, felt the, felt the route developing and played right underneath that. That was a very nice interception by Hawking to pick that off. And so in all likelihood we'll have one play as long as Ferris doesn't fumble, which they have done.

And now what do we have? Take a timeout. Another timeout. Why in the world. What, why you're taking a timeout here with 16 and 4, 10 seconds remaining.

Maybe they didn't have enough guys. Well that's probably why. Well probably because one of them was, you know, was on the sidelines and, and you know, didn't. Didn't get the fact they had a quick change interception. So smart Move by Tom, you're out.

Instead of getting blown up on the play, you get your 11th guy in there and chastised him a little bit for not having his head in the game, which he should be, you know, and. And then you move on. So that's. You can't take the timeouts with you. Utilize it, get the play in.

Get your 11 players out there and go in a situation like that. I agree with you wholeheartedly. That's really cool. Thank you. Because you can't.

I mean it'd be a penalty. So you know, that would be. And you'd be playing 11 on 10 or 10 on 11. So if it, if they get a big play, well, they've had issues with fumbles and you know, other things like that. So, you know, and it gives you a chance for the coach to talk to the quarterbacks that just stay calm here.

We got one play. Don't mess this thing up. Just hand the ball off, run it up the middle. Let's go. So away we go now on first down and 10 from their own nine yard line.

And they will run it. Ola Joy Agby hit in the backfield and drop for a loss. They're gonna have to do something different here in the second half. Good defense there there by Lewis and Clark. First guy to hit him was Ben Schnorman who's had a good.

Our game recap is being brought to you by the General Store and so here's the way things looked and it was a tale of two quarters. Yep, Lewis and Clark punted on their first possession after getting a first down, a six play drive. Ferris took over at their own 24 and had an impressive drive. Ten plays, 76 yards. Waldo the quarter, a seven yard run and it was six nothing and then after that you had LC at their own 20.

They then snapped the ball over the head of the punter on a on a punting attempt and it was a safety and it was an 8 nothing ballgame in favor of Ferris at the end of the first half or at the end of the first quarter rather. LC a drive and a 34 yard field goal made in an eight three ball game and that's where we ended the first quarter. And then disaster hits Ferris. You know, Ferris kind of had this problem last week with Gonzaga Prep, Right. They looked good for a little bit, had a couple of turnovers, got stuck in their own end. We're seeing it again this week, unfortunately, rivalry weekend. You're going to be here again tomorrow for the Battle of the Bell between me and Mount Spokane. I will.

It'll be a little muted, you know, compared to previous years, but still going to be a good football game, I think. And then you will be, I'm guessing, in the Valley on Saturday. Is that when LC or CV and U High play? Yeah, CV and UHI will kick off at noon on Saturday. I'm undecided whether I'm going to be in attendance or not, but we'll be following whether it's streaming or there in person.

Absolutely. All right, very good. And we are done with volleyball. Mount Spokane was the 3A 4A winner there, as everybody expected, even though they're not. Not declaring formal champions.

Exactly. It's the East Region champion this year with the. The new divisions. But yeah. So volleyball settled.

They're playing girls soccer right now to do another East Region title. I haven't heard the result there, but Gonzaga Prep is hosting CV over there as well. All right. Anything else we need to know about from your end? You planning any coverage?

All right, so welcome back here and let's take a look at the statistics here in the first half of play. And that's presented by KC Enterprises. All right, so here we go for Ferris. Ola Joy Egby had 66 yards rushing in the first half of play on 16 carries. I believe that is Waldo, two carries, two yards and a touchdown.

Waldo passing two out of five, 26 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions. Talarico a catch for 17 yards. Smith one for nine. Ferris though with two turnovers on fumbles in the first half of play and then one on a bad snap that went over the head of the punter. But that would have been a four.

Whoops, hang on a minute. Fourth down stop too. So they really in my opinion, there's four turnovers. You know, when you look at the special teams gaff, the two fumbles by the quarterback and then you know, then that stop as well. So for Lewis and Clark, 42 yards rushing.

For Keel Potter in the first to have a play, he carried the ball eight times, had a couple of touchdowns here. Had six carries for 11 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Hilburn, one carry for 15 yards. Wyatt Potter passing was a let 10 out of 14 for 94 yards. One interception, gents.

Hilburn the leading receiver in the GSL, four catches, 24 yards in the first half. Dunlap had two for 29, Potter had three for 15. Kiel Potter, Conklin had one catch for 26 yards. So let's see here. That's 26, 33, 55 rushing yards, 94 passing yards unofficially for 149 yards of offense for Lewis and Clark.

For Ferris, 76 rushing, 26 passing for 102 yards. LC had one turnover in the first half of play to two in the first half of play for Ferris. And penalties were a problem for for both teams where they had the turnovers at though they Ferris gave up the ball inside their own 20. Most of the times when you had touchdown drives of 12 yards, 2 yards, 29 yards and 23 yards. That doesn't bode well for your defense when you put them in that precarious situation.

And we see one of the guys for Ferris is face down on the training table in front of us and it looks like they're working on him And I'm not sure whether there's a cramp or something going on there. And is that. I think that's one of the offensive linemen starters, that is. Yeah. Brian Karunaratni, who is face down on the training table here.

And we'll see. Yeah, they're working on his back actually, so. 350. Yeah. The athletic trainer has got the old elbow right into the whole lower back there.

I don't care who you are, that hurts. That's not fun. You know, it's like a suplex coming off the top rope there and you're gonna get pummeled, you know, in the, in the WWF wrestling there. But, you know, LC is feeling pretty good about where they're at right now. Larry Ferris has got to kind of reconnoitre, regroup.

And this seems to be the trend happen at Mead, happen at Prep, happening here against Lewis and Clark. And Tom, you're out. Does a pretty good job of keeping this team pretty well centered. But they're going to have to come out really rip and snort here in the second half. Both teams out on the field warming up prior to the start of the second half of play.

Take it on Central Valley. I don't know if they're the two behind. Mount Spokane and Prep might be the two best teams. They had quite a war early on, but we'll see. And CV probably thing.

We get ready for the third quarter of play here. It'll be LC kicking off to Ferris and the Saxons they just need something good to happen offensively here.

That's going to be first and foremost. Well, the majority your offense has gone, you know, gone to number 20, Ola Joy Agby, 16 carries, 66 yards. But he had some success on that first drive, doing a great job. Then the LC defense figured out that he was kind of the go to guy. They're gonna have to spread some stuff out and get the ball to some other people or else this is going to continue the way that it's at right now.

LC up 31 to 8. They've got to be able to spread it out, throw it around. So Lewis and Clark will kick things off couple of girls soccer scores in the two way culminating event. First round, West Valley beat North Central 1 nil. Clarkston over Shadow, 1 nil.

East Valley beat Othello 2 to 1 and Pullman over Rogers, 1 nil. So those are some finals in the first round of the two girls soccer culminating event today. Our scoreboard. Here's the boot ground ball down the field. And now we have more whistles and another stop at your play. I wonder how much conversation is going to go on for this, for an offside on the kickoff. Well, they had the whole halftime to chat with each other. This is a chat chatty group.

But yeah, they're gonna move it back five yards because somebody got across the line before the ball was kicked. So it's a five yard penalty and move it back. And they relay the football finally to the official who will mark the penalty here. Offside, Lewis and Clark, very good. Move it back five yards.

Somebody give the man his flag. He did that quickly, so kudos to him. And now they're going to march around a little bit and try to figure out where they're going to tee it up from. We're not getting much sleep tonight, dude. Let's just face it.

We're not going anywhere fast, that's for sure. I like my national anthem speedy and I like my officials to, I agree, be speedy with what they do. They need to get it right, but they also need to not dawn. Here's the deep kick downfield. Ola Joy Egby will let this hit at the one and it bounces into the end zone for a touchback.

And so the five yard penalty didn't matter. Burl C as a tremendous kickoff there. They boot it back into the end zone. And that was Dane Cobb once again the senior kicker. So that's interesting.

Wonder if they decided to change the extra point. Cobb's got a strong leg. He had the field goal, you know, that 34 yarder. And then it's been Simpson. Was it Simpson?

Yeah, that's been doing all the extra points. And he came out, just crushed that ball from five yards down, you know, downfield, even deeper. So good for him. I guess he's not hurt. Got two kickers at Lewis and Clark now.

That's cool. Not the worst thing to have. No, it's not. It's a good thing. Ferris has it at their own 20 here.

First down and 10. They've got one receiver split to either side, a wing to the left and the tight end set to the right. Right? And there's a low snap ball grab. This is Paxton Page and he'll throw it out to the left side.

He's got a catch. And then being run backward is the receiver as he gets the ball up to the 24 yard line. Kobe Smith, the receiver, a gain of four yards. That's the second catch for Smith at Paxton. Page was the guy that started the season, you know, throws the ball all over the place, transfers from, you know, Ocean City and, you know, we haven't seen him.

He did not play the entire first half. So he can bring kind of a weapon out here in terms of his ability to throw the football all over the field. So Paige gets four yards in that passing play and it'll be second down and six. Now olajoy Egbe is split to the right side and one man wide to the left here on second and six at their own 24. Page fades back.

They want to set up a screen, they do it. And this is Kobe split on a little lob screen. He bounces outside on the right over the 30, out to the 35 and is finally knocked off his feet as he gets up to the 38 yard line. And that's a gain of 14 and a Damon Orthodontics first down. Where was this offense in the first half?

That's what I'd like to know. I thought they did a great job as you mentioned on that first drive. Then got a little bit snagnet running the football. LC was able to defend that. Now all of a sudden you're starting to spread it out.

Throwing some screens in there a little out, you know, some things along those lines. You've got LC kind of on their heels a bit. First down and 10. Ferris at their own 38 from the right hash mark. Two receivers split to the left.

Two tight ends set to the right. One of those tight ends, a wing to the right and they fake the handoff. Page will run to the left side trying to get around. One man breaks the tackle over the 40. 45 out, close to a first down.

I believe he'll have it out near the 50 yard line. He was able to run through a tackle there from Rick Graves. Got a penalty. We do have a penalty flag down, but it was near where the tackle was initially tried. So I wonder if there'll be a face mask here.

I think it's gonna be a hold against Ferris. Yeah, it is gonna be a hold. Well, another unfortunate mistake for Ferris because this penalty takes place three yards. Nope. They're gonna move it forward to the 38.

So that'll be basically the line of scrimmage. So it'll just be a 10 yard penalty from the line of scrimmage. That's, that's been Ferris's Achilles heel this year. The penalties and the turnovers where they've just handed field position. And the other teams have absolutely gutted this football program.

So something to work on in the off season. Hopefully we'll get back to normal. Normal football season next fall, normal basketball regular seasons for everybody else next winter and spring. So, you know, being normal would be nice, that's for sure. And I'm sure you've never been normal.

I've never been normal. That's why it'd be nice. So if you've been normal or Abby normal. Abby normal probably for me too. So I think of Marty Feldman and young Frankenstein.

Absolutely. All right. 10 yard penalty. First down and 20. Ball back at the 28 yard line.

Two receivers split to the right side. Ball on the left. Hash Page out of the shotgun, running back to his right. Low snap, he fades back. They want to set up another screen, but this is milled out and there's going to be a big sack all the way back.

Let's see what they give him for forward progress. Right around, around the 12 yard line, it looks like. I think that was Kiel Potter, maybe that was back there among others, rushing the passer and making that sack all the way back. Of the 12, loss 16. Well, Elsie didn't get full that time.

They basically took the running back and had three guys surrounding him. So, you know, poor, you know, Paige had no place to go. But you got to get rid of the football, try to throw that thing, you know, just throw it. Yeah, it's kind of tough because There are a lot of white jerseys around his primary. You know, defender tried to hit him in the foot and then you wouldn't lose so many yards.

But that, that's just tough when you're backpedaling when you got guys in your face like that. So second down and a country mile here. Second and 36 for Ferris, back of their own 12. Page will hand it off and getting out over the 15 to about the 19 yard line goes the running back. We'll see who this is running the ball.

That was Tallerico and so he gained seven. And so it'll bring up third and 29 now, you know, and if you're, you're LC, you know where the sticks are, so you can let him throw the ball downfield and 15, 20, 25 yards, make the tackle. You know, you don't want to do that because you like to make a play, but still you've got, you defend the sticks here on this play. Don't get beat deep. So third down and 29.

Two receivers split out to the right side, a tight end to the left and a wing to the left. Down to 5 on the play clock. Paige takes the snap, fades back to the 10, heaves it deep down the right side looking for a man led jump ball and a nice play. Knocked away incomplete. Lewis and Clark had Tommy Mackelson coming over there to knock that one away on a deep ball intended for Olajoy.

Excellent safety play that time and he knew down in distance they were going to try to throw it up there. Oiled Jagbi had a step on his defender, but safety came over and just, you know, went high and knocked that thing down. Great play. Punt the ball back. LC Is going to get excellent field position once again.

So Keaton Castle will punt this one away and Max Meyer stands at his own 45. Clock stopped. 8:27 remaining. Third quarter, 31. 8.

Lewis and Clark. Clark snap back is a good one. Here's the boot downfield. Low line drive. It'll hit at the 45, bounce back across midfield and be killed at the 47 of Lewis and Clark.

Was wide open, the balls a little bit behind him, but he had that ball in his hands. It just took a peek up field and he'd have been able to run a long way.

LC basically, you know, designed that play very well. Surprised me. I thought they tried to run the ball kind of, you know, use clock to their advantage. Up 31 to 8 and they come out of the first place in throw. So second down and 10 at their own 46.

Now from the right hash. Four wide receivers, two to either side, blitz coming and they handed off Potter keel. Potter trying to get outside on the left. Kratz cuts up over midfield, gets to about the 49, maybe the 48 yard line and he is double teamed and brought down by Johnny Talarico and I think also Mason Backland for Ferris. Potter's been the worker course for this football team.

Two touchdowns tonight. Doing a nice job of, you know, making plays, getting positive yards, making guys miss running over people. He's been very physical and have an injured Saxon on the play on the near sidelines here after a five yard rushing play. And so 7:48 remaining to play and he is on his back now. Is he going to get up?

Movement up front from Ferris as Devian Walter moves into the neutral zone and that is a penalty. And so that'll take it down to the 44 yard line and give him a first down. Yep. And good hard count by LC that time. They caught him in the second quarter doing the exact same thing.

You just got, you know, guys trying to make too many plays instead of watching the football. You're listening to the cadence and it's going to get you every time. Watch the football basics in football. Don't listen to the dude trying to draw you off sides and the coaches will like you for that. And it is not officially a first down.

The officials say they had to take it across the 44. So it's going to be third down in inches now. So third and inches at the Ferris 44 yard line from the left hash Wyatt Potter out of the shotgun. They had it to Keel Potter and he is overrun. They brought the blitz that time and it was the linebacker, Logan Wagner who's played well in this ball game.

And he, and I think it might have been Romero or is either Romero or Depaulo was in there and that's a loss. Back to the 50. They just overwhelmed and they shot both of the middle linebackers through the a gap on either side and the center had to block the nose guard so you know, he had no place that he could go there. And just a great stop that time by the Ferris defense. Excellent call defensively by Malik Robertson, the defensive coordinator.

Nice job. So a loss back to the 50 yard line of six yards. And so it'll be fourth down and six now and LC will punt. A rare punt for the Tigers. Fake and it's a fake.

They snap it to a here. He's going to get hit in the backfield. Breaks one tackle, breaks another tackle, crosses the 50, but it stopped short at the 48 yard line. So they tried to fake to the up man here and he did gain a yard or two, but Ferris will take over with very good field position here and looks like we have another injured player. I think he kind of got rolled up in that pile.

There were three or four defenders on it looked like he went down and kind of the force of the pile landed on him. But they're also looking at his leg, lower body and so are they going to get him up here? A gain of a yard on the play for here and then the 4 down turnover on the fake punt and Ferris will take over at their own 49 yard line. I see they do a great job by the way. And so Johnny Talarico, the injured player and he will come off under his own power here and he's a tough dude and he's played very, very well for Ferris on both sides of the ball, offense, defense, special teams. He's been all over the place and that was just too many bodies landed on him that time. They kind of knocked the wind out of him and shook him up a little bit, but he's a tough cat. He'll be back so far.

Takes over at their own 49 after the fake punt and the turnover on down and the Saxons have good field position. Let's see what they can do with it here at their own 49. They have three receivers split to the right. Now one of those men, Hocking will move off to the left and Paige will hand it off on first down. Ola Joyegbi off the right side inside the 45 down to the 42 yard line for a gain of nine yards.

That looks like what they were doing in the first drive of the game because they were able to throw the football, they were able to spread this defense out a little bit. You're going to create some running lanes for your back and get some good positive yards. Nine yards on that run where he's getting stuffed, you know, last four or five times he carried it because they expected him to run the ball. So second down in a yard, clock running 605 remaining to play. Third quarter 318 is the score in favor of Lewis and Clark over Ferris Hocking split to the right.

Two men wide left ball near the center of the field. Shotgun formation. Quarterback Page takes the low snap, dropped it, gets it back. Blitz on from Potter. He gets away, runs now to the right, inside the 40, inside the 35 and will have a first down run about the 34 yard line.

Good run by Paxton Page A Damon Orthodontics. First down. Yeah, nice job. Good coverage downfield by LC really no place to go, but he saw a little seam on the left side. Great job by Oil Joy Eggby to Pick up the blitz.

They had a backup coming from the outside. He picked that up and allowed his quarterback basically to step up, find that seam, get that first down. That was good job. So LC or Ferris. Down to the LC 34 now.

And they will have once again hocking split to the right and two receivers wide to the left. Olajoy Egby in the backfield along with the quarterback. Page, who wants to throw to the left side, hits his inside receiver and he bounces to the outside inside the 25. Got a nice block down to around the 22 yard line. That was Kobe 7.

He's had a big game and that's a gain of 12. And another big mouth put him in third, give him 13 down to the 21. Kind of a heads up play. Curled inside. He was the inside slot receiver and then he just bounced it back to the outside.

Picked up the block from the wide receiver who was outside of him and that allowed him to spring to get the first down. He's had a couple of nice catches here in this game. He's really developing as a nice pass catcher. He's the inside receiver. Is Smith out to the right side this time with Crumley outside of him.

And they will fake the handoff to OLO Joyegbi running to the left now as Paxton Page gets to the sidelines, penetrates the 20 yard line and is knocked out of bounds. He gets to the 17. That's going to be a gain of four more yards. Ferris has done a nice job on first down, moving the stakes. They had problems with that in the second quarter.

They were going backwards, fumbling the ball, penalties, all sorts of things. Now they're doing a better job. They're playing in front of the stakes, which means they're getting positive yards on first and second down, making a big difference. Second down and six at the 17 of Lewis and Clark. Ball on the left hash.

All the Joe Agby slants off the right side running from left to right and he'll squirm down to the three, maybe the two. And so he'll gain two, maybe three yards on that play.

It'll bring up second down and goal to go. Excellent drive for Ferris. They're doing a nice job. They're spreading this field, they're throwing the football, they're opening up running lanes and when they're getting hit, they're getting yards after contact with. This is a renewed kind of revigorated offense here and they're doing a nice job.

They, they basically gave up that play, you know, in the first half and that's what was the touchdown, you know, Waldo was able to run over the left side.

Third quarter. And it was defensive driven because they got a fourth down stop on a fake actually special teams on a fake punt that the special teams defense were able to stop giving Ferris decent field position. They put together a drive, they get back in the end zone here. They're probably going to go for two and try to make this, you know, try to get it to 16. Well they would get it to 15 if they go for two.

I'm a little surprised by this because kicking a point would make it a 16 point because they're at 14 right now. Remember they had 8 correct but it would be a 16 point lead if they kicked a point. But they will get the two point conversion on a throw and that ball is caught and I'm trying to see who that is but we'll go ahead and take a timeout and we'll figure that out later. So the two point conversion is good. The lead trimmed to 15.

Kind of knocked down an outside backer in the corner over there. And loud Dunlap to move zip the quick up the field. First down there, as Larry mentioned, just a nice job. Just a quick easy throw over there. That's something else he can do.

This time he gets knocked out of bounds with authority as he gets up to about the 38 yard line for a gain of 4. It was oiled Jagby. He might have been. He's been a busy bee. I like the way he plays.

He's been really the offense for Ferris. But he flies around on defense and that's not easy to do. You're playing both ways. You're the, you know, you're kind of the guy in offense. Then you have to be a beast on defense.

You're going to be tired after this game. But I like his effort. Second down and six for LC. Clock running, a minute 45 remaining. Third quarter and they will hand it off to Potter.

Keel up the middle, crosses the 40 and gets out to the 42 before he is spilled in the play. So another four yards and that brings up third down and two. And I like the way Potter has played too for Lewis and Clark. He's been really a force and you're not knocking him down the first time you hit him. He's had great yards after contact and that's what Elsie needs.

That's the kind of offense they want to have. They want to have a back that can move the pile, have those yak yards, yards after contact and, and move the stakes as well. And Potter's done that. Potter five nine, 200 pound senior. Third down and two now for Lewis and Clark.

Ball at the 42. Their own 42 from near the right. Hash their own option to the left side. Wyatt Potter, with Keel in front of him, flags down. He gets across the 45 and is knocked out of bounds by Talarico at the midfield stripe.

But this is going to come back because of an illegal ball block flag thrown at the 44 yard line. It seems to be LC that's having the issues now with the penalties. First half it was, it was Ferris. But you know, it's interesting how momentum, Larry, can really, really bite you. And, and basically lc, everything that could go right in the second quarter did.

Everything that could go wrong for Ferris did. Now you're starting to see some things go wrong here in the third quarter for LC. Let's see how they can overcome that. 59 seconds to go here in the quarter. And that cost him a first down run.

Yep. And 10 yards. Yeah. And from the line of scrimmage a nine yard penalty because it was marked off in the spot of the foul, which was a yard downfield. And so it's going to be third and 11 now for Lewis and Clark.

And the clock running now at 52 seconds remaining to play in the third, fourth and quarter. Trips to the short side of the field, the left side. One man wide right. And Potter wants to throw with pressure. Fire Short.

Has a catch at the 40 yard line. But short of first down. Smart play. Conklin hauls it in. Good.

Sure tackle there for Ferris. I think it was Mason Backlin. Yep. That brought him down again from the 33 to the 41 of eight yards. It'll be fourth down and three.

How'd you like to bet that loose Clark is not going to run a fake punt right now they're going to get rid of this thing and kind of let it roll down there. Nice job by Backlin. He knew exactly where the sticks were. He had three or four yards to play with. Came in, made a sure open field tackle.

That's how you play it now. You get the ball back. Your offense is feeling pretty good. This game might get very interesting if LC or Ferris can put together drive and score here and tighten it up in the fourth quarter. Ola Joe Agby back deep to receive this punt.

com and so the punt coming from Dane Cobb and Ola Joy. Egby stands back near his own 20. He has the ability if he can get some blocks to spring one and and take one down the field. Make a big play. He's walking forward a little bit now, walking back, just kind of pacing between the 20 and 25 yard lines.

Here's the snap back and Cook will boot it away. Nice kick. Kicked it over his head. This is going to hit inside the 10 yard line. Bounce back into the end zone.

That'll be a touchback. That was a punt. That's a strong leg. That's 59 yards. That's and Cobb is he has been kicking the kickoffs into the end zone.

And he hit a 34 yard field goal with lots of length. That's Rico ish in terms of his ability to punt the ball. That was impressive. Aggressive. Absolutely so.

And that eliminates any return options. You kick the ball in the end zone on your kickoffs, you can't return it. You punt the ball over the single returner into the end zone, you can't return it. That's a great weapon, special teams wise. And so Ferris takes over.

Excuse me. At their own 20 yard line, they've got three receivers. One split right, two split left, ball on the right Hash Page, the quarterback takes the snap, looks to the left, throws to the left side, to the sidelines. Caught by Hawking. He is hit immediately and run backward.

Good defense there by Lewis and Clark. Stephan Cox to run him backwards forward, progress to the 24 for a four yard game. They're setting up, they're setting up Cox over there for a little hitch and go or a sluggo, a slant and go to try to get him. He's jumped a couple of routes, but you got to be smart, knowing down and down distance, knowing you're up two touchdowns. Don't fall for that.

Give him the short one, come up and make the tackle. Just like he did on that last play. Hocking wide left, two men wide right, second and six, Ferris at their own 24. Page out of the gun, hands it off this time. Olajoy Egby up the middle he goes and should have a first down as he gets to the 30 yard line for a gain of six more yard.

He dragged four tacklers that time. Somebody had him around the leg and was able to pull him downfield about 2 yards. And he seems reinvigorated, Larry, in this game, you know, and the fact that they're spreading in the pass, that's making Lewis and Clark a little one dimensional. They're having a tough time stopping the run. Now I have page five out of six passing for 47 yards.

Ball on the left hash. If they're on 31 now for the Saxons. Inside of 11 minutes remaining here in the fourth quarter. Hocking and Smith split to the left, the short side. One man wide right.

Page wants to throw. Pressure coming, gets away from one man, now moves to the right. He will start to run. There he goes, cuts to his left, runs into traffic now cuts back to his right, gets over the 35, out to the 36. That was a heck of a run for Paxton Page.

It looked like somebody pushed him and actually pushed him Forward. I don't know if that was his offensive line or what, but he was going to go left. He was cutting back against the grain. He tried to hurdle somebody and he just got shoved and he got shoved due right and that was actually the great place to go. So whoever did that should get an assist at least a yard or something.

Or at least a mentioned gain of 5. Second down and 5 now for the Saxons. But Paige is doing a better job of taking care of the football there. He's not forcing the throws. When he sees everybody covered, he's running the ball.

Much improved over last week. Crumley splits to the right. Smith slotted inside, hocking to the left. On first down, Paige throws, looks left, throws left behind his intended receiver Smith. And that was a dangerous pass and he's lucky there were no defenders close by.

Well, that again, you're not sure if he, if Smith was supposed to just turn around and curl, go down kind of, you know, right around the 41, 42 yard line and curl. He was actually moving outside. So I wonder and in fact Tom, you're out talking to him right now. He was saying, hey man, that's a curl route. You got to stop and turn inside.

That's where he's throwing the ball. And so a receiver error, not a quarterback error. But my point stands. That was dangerous because there were people around there and they was lucky that wasn't pick. That's why you got to be on the same page with your quarterback.

Yes, indeed. Third down and five. Ball in the center of the field back to throw it as page. They want to screen. They do set it up.

They get it over the 40 yard line. This is Olajoy Egby up to the 45, maybe to the 46 before he is brought down on the play by Stefan Cox. That'll be a gain of 10 yards and another Damon Orthodontics first down. They're moving him around. They put him in the back, they put him out at slot, they put him at wide receiver.

You've got to find, find 20 on the field. He has been the offense in this football game. He's been Mr. Saxon tonight. He's done a great job.

Very nice screen coming from the outside to the inside. Very well blocked by the Saxons. Oh, joy. Egg be now split out to the right side and they will hand it off. Talarico up over the 50, cuts to his right, gets to the 45.

Still on his feet, fighting for yards. Looks like he'll be just short of the 44 yard line. Gain a 9. What a difference a quarter makes. This fair team was dead and buried in the second quarter and they come out, had some positive things happen.

And now all of a sudden they've got life back. 9:14 to go here in the game. They're driving, they score, get a conversion. It's a one sport score ballgame. I would never have said that was possible after that second quarter.

So second down and a yard now at the 45 yard line of Lewis and Clark. Hocking splits left, two men, wide right. Talarico, the setback. Page wants to throw. Pump fake, goes deep, left side.

Man's out there. Hawking, he's got it. No. And dropped the ball. Hawking was out there and dropped the ball.

He got excited. He also probably heard the footsteps of Stephen Cox, who was beaten initially and he just couldn't haul it in. And that's a tough thing too because you're running full speed, the ball's bouncing in the air and you're trying to look that thing in and catch it. He got two hands on it. He just couldn't secure it.

What a great throw by Page. He puts that right on his digits. So third down in a yard now at the 45 yard line of LC. That's a smart play to take a shot on. Second and one.

He took a shot deep. I like it. Gonna run the ball here. Talarico set to the left of Page. Three wide receivers, two to the right.

They do hand it off. Talarico hit, then he gets a block from Page, but still is hit in the backfield and dropped for a loss. Great job by the LC defense. Cox in there again along with Graves to bring him down. A loss.

Back to the 47 yard line. And it'll be fourth down and three in the ball. Game may ride on this play. Yeah, I think you got to go. And they've been able to go to Smith on the slot, but you're going to have defensive backs for Ferris or for LC kind of creeping up there.

Let's see if they try to get the ball to 20 or, you know, or 21. Hawking split left. That's 21, 20. Olajoy. Egby is in the slot out to the right, the inside receiver.

Receiver. Fourth and three. Page throws behind Hocking. Incomplete. Threw it before Hocking had turned around.

And Ferris turns it over on downs with 8:05 remaining to play. Fourth quarter, Hocking only had to go down and run a five yard route. He ran seven and unfortunately Paige through it at the five yard mark. So Again, we had two mix ups. You had Smith on the curl route that ran too far to the outside.

Should have turned around on the inside. I know that because I know what the five yard curl route is at Ferris, like coached up there for four years. So I know if they're running and how long that distance needs to be. So again, you've got to be on the same page with your quarterback. He had a great chance.

So the turnover on Downs and LC takes over at their own 47 yard line with the ball near the center of the field here. And the Tigers want to work on the clock here a little bit. They have here in at the fullback and the Power I. And what do we have? A drop snap and a dog pile for the football.

And it is recovered by LC by the center at the 46 yard line. A loss. Well, we'll put it at the 47. No gain. Huge break that time for the Tigers.

That could have been a great possession for Ferris, but the ball dropped straight down, I think right into the center's legs. It was just a miscommunication between quarterback and center. Remember the center Christian Osterman was ejected in the first half. So that is a new center in there. Here's a toss sweep Keel Potter, a good powerful run down across the 50 and he crashes to the 45 for a gain of eight yards.

I think it's going to be Potter time here. If I'm Joe Ireland, the head coach, I'm going to run the football, I'm going to burn clock, I'm going to make it tough. Just get first downs, keep the chains moving, keep the clock going, stay in bounds. You don't have to throw the ball here. You're doing a nice job of running it.

Third down and two. Clock counting down inside of. Well now getting close to 7:05. It'll get down over inside of seven minutes before they have to run this point play. We're at seven minutes on the clock.

Fourteen on the play. Clock. Third and two again out of the power I and Wyatt Potter just looks at the play clock. Then again a drop snap and Ferris says they have it. Another bad or not.

I don't know if it was a bad snap, but it just wasn't a completed snap from the center to the quarterback. Ferris says they have it, but they don't. I think 61 got it again. That was the center that's filled in for 60 who got ejected. You have a player down for LC.

Yeah, it's the, the guy that started a right tackle, Gabe Daniel. Is now the center and the injured player down for lc. Here is Mason Smith, their left guard and let's go ahead and take a timeout 633 to play here. Fourth quarter. Our score still 3116 Lewis and Clark on the Arby's GSL Game of the week on 700 ESPN and 105 5.

So after the player that was injured got up, went on, came off the field under his own power and so they will punt it away here.

Cobb to do the punting and olajoy Agby is down inside his 15 yard line and for Cobb it's not to have a strong leg but this is snapped over as he head it's rolling back inside the 30 picked up by Cobb at the 25 and he boots it away. Look at that. That's a heck of a kick. It's going to come downfield, hit at the 30, bounce backwards and be touched down at about the 33 yard line. But still that is going to turn out to be much better for Lewis and Clark than it could have been as Cobb got back there and made a whale of a play to pick it up and then punt it before the guys got to him and he ends up getting about a net 15 yard punt out of it.

That's incredibly hard to do. One to feel the ball, two to take you to stop yourself and then go back in the right direction. He one step punted that thing and still did a great job of getting some positive yards. That may may have been one of the biggest plays of the game because Ferris would had unbelievable field position with plenty of time left. 5:44 to go here in the fourth quarter from where he kicked that ball is about a 40 yard punt and he one stepped it.

But we have more filler bustering going on Here, between the officials. That's good. I like that, Larry. And so what are we gonna have? First down.

Yes, we know that. Now where are you gonna put the football? You have a penalty. No, they're wandering, the lads, a little confused because they're moving the ball up about two yards. Up to the 30.

Yeah. I'm not sure about this. Why did they do that? I don't know. That's weird.

So after the punt, Ferris will take over at their own 37 yard line. Out of the shotgun, running back Talarico moves to the right of Paige. The quarterback takes the shotgun snap, shoulder high, pump fake, wants to go deep, fires it down. He's got a man out there. Olajoy Egby, who hauls it in down inside the 15 yard line.

No, that was not Ola Joy Egby. That was Hunter Ziggler, I think. Wow. That. Are you sure that's.

Nope. That is Ola Joy eggby. It is 20. It is Ola Jake be boy. That was a great catch.

That was an over the show. What a heck of a ball by Page. He put that teardrop, that thing right over his shoulder. That is incredibly tough catch to make. Plenty of time to go.

Big play for the Saxons. 49 yards on that passing play to G Day Olajoy Egby. And so it is first down and 10 now for Ferris. Down at the 14. Hocking splits left, two receivers split right and they will hand it to Talarico.

He is hit in the backfield and thrown for a loss. Was that Potter? Yes, Keel. Potter. Potter.

What a game. Brought him down at the 17 or 18 yard line. You know, you've had some special efforts on both sides. Potter's been brilliant for LC Oil. Joe Egby has been brilliant for Ferris.

But you've got a little momentum. Ferris has a momentum right now. Clock is running. But they've got to score here and they need to do it quickly and then get a stop. Loss of four on the play for Talarico.

They've got Crumley split to the right side and Hocking wide to the left. Second and 14 at the 18 yard line. Back to throw it is the quarterback. Page fires the ball and again a miss route and an interception in the end zone. Cox hauled it in, Page was throwing a corner and the receiver Hocking ran a post and the cornerback.

Cox did a great job to figure that out. And he. He read the ball. Read the ball and made the play and lay out to catch it. Yep.

So the third Ferris turnover. Cox the interception in the end zone. And with 444 remaining to play here in the fourth quarter, a huge turnover. Papa Murphy's Pizza. They're proud to support the gsl, the league of champions.

And then the rugby scrum happens and they're going to get it all the way out to the 25 yard line. I like the way Potter runs. He just doesn't give up. He keeps squirming and twisting and it looked like he was dead meat after about three yards and still got the ball to the 25 for a five yard gain. So it'll bring up second down and five.

The clock is the friend of the Lewis and Clark Tigers. Here we are counting down 415 remaining to play. 26 seconds still on the play clock here. So they are going to take their time this as much as they possibly can. You know, right down to, you know, one or two seconds left before they start, which is smart.

There's still. Yep, still in the huddle as we're at four minutes now and 11 on the play clock. Now they break the huddle and come to the line of scrimmage. Spread formation. Four receivers, two to either side.

Wyatt Potter, the quarterback brings motion and a little pot pass now to Hilburn. He gets out over the 30, takes a big hit. Was that olajoy Egby again? It was at the 33 yard line. He just crushed him.

And that's gonna be a first down run though, though still on the. On the little pot pass to Hilbert. You know, I love the way J. Day Oyo. Joe Egby has played.

He is. He's given everything he's got defensively, offensively. He's run the ball well. He's caught the ball well. He's been hitting like crazy.

You know, he's had a great game. There's, in my opinion, there's your MVP for Ferris. And Ferris is gonna have to start using some timeouts here.

They have all their timeouts remaining. If they want to try to win this game, they're gonna need to try to stop the clock. Here comes the blitz up the middle. There's a snap. That's fumbled.

The ball is loose and Farris has it. Wow, a snap. That was a little bit high. And Olajoyegbi comes up with it. How the heck did he do that?

He was playing safety. Is that 20? Yep, I believe so. Well, that's exactly what the Saxons needed. Great job.

He's staying on the sidelines. So I don't think that was 23. Might have been 23. Might have been Ryan Berry. I thought it was Ola Joy Agby that came up with it, but it might have been Barry.

I think you're right. And he was safety. He was 12 yards off the ball. I thought, how the heck did he get up there so fast? So Barry recovers off the second LC turnover and Ferris takes over.

Was still an opportunity here at the LC25. Page, the quarterback takes the snap, looks left, throws left, has a catch hocking and is hit immediately by Cox and run backward at the 19 yard line after a 6 yard pickup. Nice job. Just a little curl route. Came down, turned around, the ball was right there, ran the right route.

Good things happen when receiver and quarterback are on the same Page. But this game is not over, folks. 31, 16, 52 to go. But the way Ferris is moving, they're going to get another shot here. Great job.

Clock management's amazing how that can come out and bite you. If you don't, you don't handle it right. But I'll tell you right now, I give Ferris a ton of credit. I thought they were dead and buried in that second quarter. Elsie had all the momentum.

They were absolutely stoning Ferris when they came out out. Give Tom Yuroud and his staff a lot of credit for turning this thing around in that third quarter. As bad a luck as they had in the second quarter, they got some breaks in the third quarter. They hung in there and they're making a game out of this thing when I thought this thing was absolutely over. Good for them.

Great Battle of the south once again. It's rivalry weekend. Well and remember Ferris missed their only try. They've kicked here in this ball game. Game.

That came after the first touchdown. They missed the pat. So there's some danger in this too that you missed the kick if you're Ferris. Well either way, I mean you've got to convert. You got to either convert the two point or the one point and.

And let's see if they're gonna. They're gonna kick it. Yeah. Okay. Well he's got to kick it to give.

Give him a chance. And now you've got onside kick with 156 to go and only one time out left. Yep. And so 2, 4, 6, 8, they got 1112 dudes and now they get one guy off and they'll try the point and it'll be Backlin kicking. Talarico holding to try to make this eight point deficit.

Here's the snap back. It's good ball spotted rush up the middle. But somehow it was missed by the man coming through there. But he still missed the kick. Kick.

And we assume that it Was no good because LC had a. I mean, the official said. Said no good. So we knew there's no good, but we assume it was because LC had a man rushing up the middle and I was trying to figure out how he didn't block the kick. Well, it was probably because it was wide and so he couldn't block the kick.

So that means that forces your hand. Now you've got onside kick and try to recover this thing. And those odds are not very good. So nine, 10 players up and here's the onside kick right to one of the up men who catches it and goes down as that was Conklin, the wide receiver. And so the onside kick is not successful.

Lewis and Clark will take it at their 49. They can. Ferris has one more timeout so they can stop the clock once. They can't kneel down three times and win the game. But they don't have to.

I mean, they could kneel down three times if that's what they choose to do and there wouldn't be much time left when they'd have to punt it. Yeah, exactly. And then. And then Ferris is going to bring 11 guys to try to block the darn thing. But what a heck of a rush by Lewis and Clark.

Right up the middle, Larry to on that extra point. This was a great effort to kind of jump through the gap, get up there and. And force a kicker. I think he saw the big guy coming up there and tried to get around him. He did.

And unfortunately went around the goal post. Here comes a blitz. They hand it off to Keel Potter. He will struggle forward and get down to the 46 yard line for a gain of five. And no stoppage of time yet from Ferris.

Gain a five for pot Potter. Well, you got to try to stop them here defensively. You got to make it, you know, third and relatively long. And then you take it after third down if you can stop them. But basically Elsie can win the football game.

If they get six yards here in the next two plays, LC can take this game down to about one minute before they snap the ball here. There's a minute 20 on the game clock and 21 on the play clock. So they can get pretty close to one minute before they snap the football ball. And then if Ferris didn't use a timeout, they would probably be able to get it down to around 10 seconds. Here's another blitz coming up the middle.

They fake it to Potter running now to Keel is running to Wyatt running to the left side and he will have a first down and that'll do it. Yep, down to the 40 yard line. Clock will stop. Another Damon Orthodontics first down, the fake to Keel Potter and Wyatt Potter takes off around the left end for a gain of 6 yards and another Damon Orthodontics first down. Great block by the wide receiver out there to spring him to give him the corner over there and you know caught LC they were bringing or Ferris was bringing both their middle linebackers through the A gap right up the middle, you know, and they were not going to be able to run the ball up the middle so they went outside.

Very good heads up call. Now you can get in the, you know, the victory formation and take a knee and run this thing out down to 35 seconds. So one more play and that'll be that. They will get into the victory formation and Wyatt Potter will take the snap, go down back at the 46 yard line. That's going to be that.

Lewis and Clark snaps a two game losing streak. They improved a two and four. Ferris now has lost four straight. They're at one and five. Lewis and Clark wins the battle of South Hill Tigers 31.

All right, welcome back Union Stadium and can it's the Postgame show our fourth quarter by the way was presented by NECA ibew, that's the National Electrical Contractors association and the International Brethren of Electrical Workers.

Time now in the postgame show to recap this ball game and that is presented by Village Center Cinemas. And this ball game early on was all Ferris. In the early part of the game LC got the ball to start, they gave it up on a punt. They got a first down but had to punt on their first drive. Ferris took over.

They drove down the field 10 place 76 yards and the quarterback Tyler Waldo with a seven yard rushing touchdown. The point after was no good and it was six nothing in favor of Ferris. Lewis and Clark got the ball and they went three and out. And on the punt the snap went over the punters head. It was recovered in the end zone for a safety by the punter.

And so it was eight nothing in favor of Ferris and it was all looking good. Ferris took the ensuing free kick though they went 3 and out, LC took over at their own 20. They drove down the field 63 yards and Cobb kicks a 34 yard field goal. That makes it 8 3. Then disaster starts for Ferris.

They get the ball on the first play, they end up fumbling and it was recovered by Sherman at the Ferris 12. And on fourth down Keel Potter a three yard rushing touchdown capping a four play 12 yard drive. Point after good by Simpson 10, eight in favor of Lewis and Clark. And then our play of the game is presented by Lamar Outdoor Advertising. And happened as Ferris was trying to punt it away in the ensuing drive.

And after the timeout Ferris decides to punt. And so they will do that. Mason Backland will boot it away. Max Meyer stands inside his own 40 here to return. High snap over the head of Backland is rolling back inside the five, it rolls back to the two and it'll be covered by Backland there.

And Lewis and Clark will take over on another Ferris mistake. And they will take over right around the two yard line. Wow. And so that mistake set up a two yard rushing touchdown by here. And that made it a 17 to 8 game.

Then Ferris turned it over on downs at their own 29. LC takes advantage, three play 29 yard drive, keel Potter another rushing touchdown that made it 24 to 8. Ferris gets the ball at their own 28. Fumble that is recovered by here at the 23 yard line. And a four play 23 yard drive ensued.

And here after recovering the Fumble gets his second rushing touchdown. Point after good by Simpson 31 to 8. And that's how we ended basically the first half of play. In the second half, Ferris did a good job. They held LC out of the scoreboard.

Ferris had to punt on their first drive. LC took over at their own 46, tried a fake punt, turned it over on downs. Ferris took over at their own 49, started a 51 yard drive. Cap by Agide Ola Joyegbi touchdown run, the two point conversion good on a pass to Hocking and it was 31 16. LC had to punt.

Ferris turned it over on downs. LC punted again. Ferris got an interception in the end zone on a miscommunication on a route as Cox for LC intercepted the Ferris pass in the end zone. But LC fumbled right after that. Ferris took over at the LC 24 and they get a one yard rushing touchdown for Olajoy Egby.

But they missed the point after, after that, 31, 22 and then they failed on the onside kick. LC gets a first down at the end of the game and they go on to the victory. Tell the two halves. It was Lewis and Clark really from the midpoint of the first quarter through the second quarter. And then from that point on, Ferris I thought did a brilliant job coming back.

Give Tom Murad and his staff a ton of credit for, you know, keeping the ship together when everything was falling apart. And they came out and played very well. As Larry mentioned, they shut Lewis and Clark out in the second half, got some turnovers, made some plays, made this a ballgame and had a chance. They just, you know, made too many mistakes when it counted and that that period in the second quarter was just disastrous for the Saxons and really hurt their chance to win this game. A lot of guys had great games, but we're gonna go with Keel Potter. 63 yards rushing, he had two touchdowns, he had three catches for 15 yards and he had a gaggle of tackles on defense. He was really the go to guy for Lewis and Clark and when the game was on the line he made the plays that he needed. Make for Ferris, that's an easy one.

You look at J Day Oil, Joe egby, he had 88 yards rushing, was really the offense, he had the touchdown. He also had a 59 yard reception that set up that touchdown eventually. And he had some huge hits on defense, played all over the field, was really kind of a one man wrecking crew. And both of those guys I think deserve everything that they got. And I give Lewis and Clark, you know, a lot of credit.

They withstood the second half storm that Ferris threw at them and, and you had just Enough to win this football game. That was a great one. So congratulations to a couple of two way players. They actually outgained Lewis and Clark. I had them at 74 rushing yards, 125 passing yards for 199 yards. Of course they had, they had lost yardage on a, on a snap over the punters head in the ball game that resulted in that safety in the, in the early going of the ballgame. So individually, Jide ole Joyegbi had 22 carries, 88 yards and a couple of touchdowns to lead the rushing for Ferris. Page passing.

I had him eight out of 14 for 113 yards and one interception. Waldo was two out of five for 26 yard yards. Smith five catches for 52 yards. Olajoy Egby two for 59 to lead Ferris in receiving for Lewis and Clark. Keel Potter 14 carries, 63 yards, a couple of touchdowns here had six carries, seven carries for 12 yards and two touchdowns.

Wyatt Potter 13 yards rushing. Wyatt Potter passing 2, 4, 6, 8, 19 attempts. Let's see here. 10, 12, 14, 14 out of 19, 125 yards and one intercept for Potter in the ball game. Hilburn Gents.

Hilburn 5 catches for 32 yards. David Dunlap 4 for 44. Keel Potter 3 for 15 and Cade Conklin had 2 for 34 in the ball game for Lewis and Clark. And so for these teams, next up for LC they will play at Mount Spokane here at Union Stadium on Friday. Ferris scheduled to wrap up with Cheney.

But Cheney had to cancel their game this week against Gonzaga Prep because they didn't have enough healthy players. So who knows about next week whether they're going to have the healthy players to be able to play against Ferris. So this may have ended Ferris season and I don't know whether that would be counted a forfeit against Phoenix against Cheney next week or not. So they'll either end up 2 and 5 or 1 and 5 if Cheney can't play. Or a no contest.

Yeah, could be a no contest. You know the possibility they won't make it up. And next week is the end of the season. So Whoever is your 3A 4A champion and your 2A champion will be crowned GSL championship champions at that time. All right, so next week we will have the battle at Gonzaga Prep is Central Valley will play Gonzaga Prep and that should be a while of a game between a really good, well, two really good offensive teams and, well, just two good football teams.

Yeah, absolutely. And you got, you know, kind of a dynamic thing in terms of the the option that that Gonzaga Prep runs more of a spread passing attack that Central Valley runs and two very good defenses and two very good coaching staffs. The Valley kind of against prep. You know, it's going to be a good ballgame. I'm excited to see, you know, to see that between those two.
