Coming up shortly of Lewis and Clark against University High School out in the Valley. And happy to start off tonight's broadcast with the University High School athletic director, Brandon Yarmon.

Brandon, so close for you guys last week in the greasy pig against Central Valley. But knowing how good CV is right up against the top of the GSL standings this week as they get ready to play G Prep tonight, you guys at the school have to be feeling pretty good about the direction the program's going in. Absolutely. We were very proud of, you know, how the Titans came out and played that game and, you know, everything just seemed to come together. They played really, really well defensively, really held CVs running game in check.

We just, we ran the ball really well, took advantage of that and some miscues on CVs part. We had a trick play that scored a touchdown on a fourth and one where we had a fake punt and then they had an option play where they fumbled it and we picked it up. One of our fastest defenders ran it in. So, yeah, they were very gritty. They just were determined.

And, you know, like, I think most people in the Valley, when the two of those teams get together, anything can happen. What is it about the greasy pig when those two teams get together that makes it such a compelling game? Well, it's just the history, you know, and a lot of these, a lot of the kids from both schools have been playing against each other since they were in elementary and middle school. And once they put on that Titan uniform and the Bear uniform, yeah, they know that that's an exciting game to look forward to. Talk to us a little bit about how the other fall sports are doing here at U High.

Girls soccer lost a real tough one Wednesday against the Bears. Playing really, really well. They are. You know, they're fighting to hopefully make a run at the playoffs. Top five 3A teams get in and we'll play the MCC in another couple weeks.

So it looks like we can probably squeeze in that fourth or fifth spot. Volleyball's. They're young, but doing well. You know, they've lost a couple of tough ones here late. Cross country is doing really, really well.

We just hosted a meet at Liberty Lake a couple days ago and ran against Ferris and in Gonzaga Prep ran both boys and girls did real, real well. And so, yeah, things are going. Things are going well. Our softball team is, is really, really good. I think we've lost one, one game and I think we lost.

I believe we lost the mouse. We can. So, you know, it's. We could, we could get a title there. So more, more to come.

Love to hear that. Any other big events coming up at U High here that you want to pump the next couple of weeks? No, we. Well, we just, we just had our Titan Boost tournament last Saturday out at Meadowwood where we had 18 teams. And it just, you know, it helps when the weather was as nice as it was.

Well boy, we had a really good time with last week's GSL Game of the Week broadcast between Mount Spokane and Lewis and Clark. And Lewis and Clark is here on the docket again tonight for our GSL Game of the Week as they get ready to take on a pretty interesting Titans team who came very close to an upset in the Greasy Pig last week against Central Valley. So let's catch up just a little bit tonight about Lewis and Clark, although again, we saw them just last week. Based on what we've talked about, we kind of have them near the top of the second tier here in the Greater Spokane League right now. They beat Ferris for example, but again last week they lost 28 nothing to Mount Spokane.

Mount Spokane is in that top tier with teams like CV and Gonzaga Prep, so LC kind of near the top of that second tier at the moment. So interesting when it comes to the option that they run. Usually when you hear about high school football teams running the option in 2021. It's a team or a program phasing out of or getting rid of the options. So interesting.

Lewis and Clark in 2021 has opted to bring the option into their program and become an option football team. The way they justify that is hey, we don't want to put our year in, year out progress on the back of a quarterback when we might not have a gunslinger. So they moved to the option offense. They have had moderate success with that. Again they beat Ferris, kind of got stopped last week against Matt Spokane.

They're trying to dial it in this week, but based on what we saw last week, the playbook looks pretty limited so far in terms of big players. We'll talk about this in the next segment when Dehante Hayes joins us. But gents, Hilburn needs to have a big night if the Tigers want to get a win over U High. Speaking of U High again, they almost beat Central Valley last week. Came within a couple of points in the greasy pig.

In terms of what they need tonight, they need a big game from their three headed monster running back number one Dayton Thompson, number nine Ethan McCurgo, and especially number 24 Malachi Miller. We just got some news actually before the game though that they might be running a two quarterback system tonight. The sophomore TJ Haberman has been pretty good this year, passed about 40%, about 450 yards through five games. But we've been told that Caleb Walcott who started the year as a left handed tight end is going to play quarterback some of the evening tonight for you high. Really interesting to see who does what between the sophomores Haberman and Walcott.

And on the defensive end. Boy they need a big night to stop the Lewis and Clark option. If the Titans, if they can stop the Lewis and Clark option on D, they're the better team. But if LC dials it in, this game is wide open. Meanwhile, the setting tonight, of course as you've looked outside your window and noticed it is getting darker earlier and earlier in the year around these parts in the Inland Northwest.

But still here at University High School, one of the great settings for high school football in this part of the state. You have the rolling hills behind the high school in the background kind of the back end of the valley. Greg Talbot here and Dehante Hayes, former Eastern star subbing in for Paul Sorensen tonight, will join us in just a minute. Before we get going on tonight's broadcast between Lewis and Clark and University High School, let's give you a look around the rest of the GSL tonight because we have some really interesting games that are going to start determining who ends up where as we kind of begin to head down the home stretch of the regular season here in a couple weeks.

The first big game that is actually a non region game tonight is one of the best in Eastern Washington, Richland at Mead. Richland coming up from the Tri Cities, perennially one of the great teams from around there, usually the Bombers. And she wanted the two best to come out. Richland. That meat is a phenomenal game tonight.

Elsewhere in the gsl, Rogers on the road down at Pullman, Mount Spokane at Ferris. Got to think that Mount Spokane will come away with a win there. The other big game though tonight in the gsl, this is where SWX and Larry we are for television. The number one game between the number one and number two teams. A lot of people think in the gsl, Gonzaga Prep at Central Valley, the air attack versus the option, that game is going to be phenomenal.

Elsewhere tonight, Ridgeline is on the road out at Cheney. All right, time to bring in Dehante Hayes, former Eastern Washington football star, for his pregame keys to the game here on the pregame show. Dehante, we saw Lewis and Clark last week. I saw you high in week two. You have not seen them yet.

Interested to get your takeaway here as we get ready to see these teams, what do you have for our keys to the game? Well, for keys a game for lc, we're going to have to make sure that they move the chains. They got to make sure they drive down the field for sure way better than they did last week. They got to own the tempo not only on offense but on defense as well. And then they need to have great time management while they're on offense.

Make sure that they control how the game's going and who gets the ball ball for how long. And what about for you high? And for you high? They make. They need to make sure they feed Malachi Miller, who happens to be their 5, 8, 200 pound running back who also plays linebacker.

And they really need to let the running backs eat during this game. And what about your, your big general takeaway in general? UHI's D needs to keep Elsie's offense weak, make them slow down, give up the ball and turn it over. Three and outs. Three now.

Three and outs. And they got to get this game. Did you like what you saw out of Lewis and Clark last week, just understanding that maybe Mount Spokane was significantly better. I like the, I like the idea of what they were doing, but I think that they didn't counter on the, on the opportunities that they had. They really need to take an opportunity to go through, dial in this whole week and come out here and show what the option can definitely do for this team.

Lewis and Clark coming off the South Hill to play University High School. Lewis and Clark, one of the more interesting teams in the Greater Spokane League this year, moving to the triple option. They've had moderate success. University High School, a team that has talent, but they're very young. They almost beat Central Valley and the greasy Pig last week.

Very nearly pulled off a big upset. A lot of people are interested tonight to see their quarterback situation. Is it TJ Haberman? Is it Caleb Walcott? Or is it both?

And for a little bit more on that, let's take a look at our starting lineups tonight. And since we're talking about what we might see out of the Titans, let's begin with them. The offense for University High School. Starting with their offensive line. Logan Rel, Shane Swan, Thomas Neil Gage Jorgensen at right tackle.

Paul Sorensen. Loved him when we saw him last time. Big number 58 on the line, Gage Jorgensen, he's one to watch. Then Hunter Hoglund at right tackle. Taking a look at the rest of their skill position players.

Talis Parrish will line it at tight end. Dominic Longo, Trey Buchanan and Jalen King will be their wide receivers. Malachi Miller will start at running back, although they've got three alongside Dayton Thompson and Ethan McCurgo. And would you look at this. Deontay Hayes.

It is the sophomore, number 82, Caleb Walcott, who they are starting tonight at quarterback. Although we will probably see some of TJ Haberman, who's been pretty good this year for a sophomore. But again, you know, they brought in Walcott late in the game against CV last week. He put up a pretty impressive performance. You had an illustrious playing career in Tacoma and then at Eastern Washington.

What's it like to be on a team that makes a quarterback change mid season? It's pretty rare. It is very rare, but it can be something that that can benefit the team. Obviously, TJ may have been doing something that the coach has seen may have needed to be changed and Caleb really just came in and did something that, that they liked. That's why he's starting tonight.

Taking a look at the D Lucas Reynolds, Gage Jorgensen and Waylon Romero. The front three, Andrew Batiste, Malachi Miller and Tristan Arland are the linebackers. And here's a look at the secondary. Dayton Thompson, Carter, Reza, Jalen Miner, Rico Longo and Ethan McCurgo. Starting lineup for Lewis and Clark.

Let's take a look at their offensive line. First Chase Richardson, Ben Schuerman, Miles Raya, Blake Mitchell and then Mason Smith. At wide receiver they've got Tyler Jones, the 6 foot 3 big guy and Joey Ferris line it up at running back. Both gents Hilburn and Max Meyer, both of whom looked pretty good for for us last week along with Matt here who's the big six foot running back. 220 pounds.

He was more of a lead blocker last week and Charles Northern is their quarterback. Did you like what you saw at LC last week? The Hunte? I feel like they had a lot of potential there, but they didn't. They weren't able to counter on a lot of things.

However, I was impressed by by Charles Northern, the way he was able to run hard and do what he needed to do. And here's a look at their defense. James Sheridan, Peton Vermeer, Gabe Daniel and Ben Schumer. Their front four linebackers, Matt Hare, Cade Parabon and Eliza Soder. And a secondary, Jen Silburn, Max Meyer, Tommy Mickelson and Stephen Cox.

Pretty quickly here to hunt a who should we be watching for tonight? All right, for LC we got QB Charles Northern, running back slash wide receiver for Jance Hilburn who was the best player last week and gave it all out there. And the wide receiver Tyler Tyler Jones, who we didn't see too much of. But he's 63 receiver. I'm excited for him.

We've spent about 20 minutes talking about this matchup tonight between the Titans and the Tigers.

You saw the Tigers last week. What do you think we're going to see tonight? I'm very excited to see the Tigers come out here swinging, being able to run their option efficiently and counter on the plays that they that they missed last week. I want to see those corrections fixed. If they do that, then I really predict that they're going to come out here and have a successful game.

No. 1. That University High School had a great game last week against CV would naturally make you think that they're going to have the advantage tonight because of how good CV is. But knowing that they might run two quarterbacks tonight, I think that might be a lot for the guys to handle. That might give LC a pretty good chance.

I think running two quarterbacks can be risky. You know, one guy might not be able to get into a groove and the wide receivers might not get too comfortable with the quarterback that's back there, so they might have to rely on the run game here. All right, Deontay, give me your your final prediction for tonight who are going to see come out on top. Final predictions I think that LC is going to come out here and show us a lot more than what they showed last week. That would be pretty impressive.

University High School coming into this game at 2 and 3 in the GSL. Lewis and Clark also 2 and 3. They've got wins over Ridgeline and Ferris, losses to Central Valley, Eastmont and Mount Spokane led by their head coach Joe Ireland. All right, that is pretty much it for most of the pregame show tonight. Both teams University High School in Lewis and Clark. Clark 2 and 3 so far this season. But both of them, Dehante Hayes, are so much more talented than their record indicates. Although the big matchup that everyone watches tonight in terms of the final score that everyone's looking at is Central Valley Gonzaga Prep. I low key think this is actually the most interesting game in the GSL tonight.

I think the same thing too. You have two teams who are two and three here. They have nothing to lose but everything to gain here. And I feel like they're going to come out of here swinging. Both teams are all right.

So the University High U High the Titans are going to be receiving the ball first. They're in their traditional maroon jerseys with gold helmets and pants and gold numbering on their jerseys. Lewis and Clark for the second straight week off of the South Hill on the road. They are in their white tops, white bottoms with orange letters, numbers and accents and black helmets. Change the way you pizza Eagle star to Hante Hayes here with us tonight. He predicted a narrow win for Lewis and Clark. We will see what happens is LC gets ready to put this one in the air. It is an end over and kick down to about the 10 yard line. It is received here and given back around the edge to Dayton Thompson.

He cuts past the 20 yard line, taken down from behind at the 25. Pretty good field position for you high to start this one. And we will see what appears to be the left handed quarterback going first for University High School. Their sophomore right hander T. J.

haberman played pretty much the whole season. But kind of late in the game last week against Central Valley they gave the lefty 6ft tall 150A sophomore Caleb Walcott the chance to play quarterback. He clearly impressed and they're going to run with it appears to be a 2 quarterback system tonight. So the lefty quarterback comes out under center uhi between the hashes to start this game. From the 25 turns and hands off to Malachi Miller.

He gets met right at the line of scrimmage and the LC defensive line there does a pretty good job. Stops him for maybe a gain of one. It's already a good start for LC to something that we didn't see last week. For them to start off this fast or this hard. This fast.

No. So tell me what you thought about the LC defense last week against Mount Spokane last week. They look like they got a little fatigued really quick. They didn't come out swinging as hard as they should have and that's something that definitely affected the game. So gain a one on the play.

Second down and nine coming up here for University High School split to the bottom of the field. We have Jalen King. They're 5, 10, 160 receiver. He's a deep threat and he's got one on one coverage. Walcott drops back, fires far side.

That is going to be hauled into the 35 and up to the 37 for a first down. It is Jalen King. They went right back to him. That's his 10th catch of the year now over 230 yards. Nice.

I expect to see a lot more from him today as well. He's. He started off quick and I, I'm expecting a lot more from too. Yeah, they have a lot of guys who touch the ball. In terms of the receiving core for U High, they've got a pretty big group, but really, Trey Buchanan, Jaleb King, Enrico Longo, those are the three big names we are going to hear tonight.

First drive for U High and back under center comes Walcott. Two receivers split to his left, one for his right. He pitches it to his left side and that one's hauled in by Malachi Miller. He gets past the left hash mark up to the 45 yard line and again is seven on the pitch. Malachi, before the game you were saying to Hante, you said you could tell that he was one of their best players just based on the way he was carrying himself.

How'd you know? You get, when you're a good player, you just have a swagger to yourself that you know you're going to come out here and dominate the game. You're going to do what's necessary in order for your team to win. And he came out here looking exactly like that. And you saw that with Malachi Miller, huh?

Oh, yeah, most definitely. All right, gain a seven on the play. Second down and three coming up here for you. High on their first drive of the game. LC on defense playing deep, back in coverage, turning handoff back to Miller.

He's up to the 48 yard line, right around the chains. He fell forward and it looks like he's got a name on orthodontics. First down and he does. Oh, yeah. This is where LC has to really, really stop them.

You have to control the game. Like I said, you have to control the time management earlier. That was one of their main keys. And right now with them getting all these first downs and driving down the field, they're not doing that too well. Malachi Miller, kind of a bowling ball type running back for them.

5 foot 8, 200 pounds. He likes contact. His coach says he's a menace. Oh, yeah. I can See it?

All right, new first down to their own 49 yard line. Walcott comes out under center, turns and hands back off to Malachi. Miller doesn't see room up through the middle. He bounces off tackle to the left side, gets a gain and nine yards. He's past the 50.

Down to the Lewis and Clark 42. And all of a sudden this U High offense is moving on the ground. It's very risky business here. We got to make sure we put some hands on Malachi because right now he's getting real comfortable. And when you get comfortable with a swagger like the way he had before the game started, that's when the game gets tough for LC's defense.

I'll tell you, it looks like Lewis and Clark's defense caught here a little bit back on their heels. Think they were expecting more passing to start this game. I was expecting a lot more passing as well, too. So I'm back on my heels as well, actually. I take it back.

That was not a first down. Give him a gain of nine. So second down and one here for Walcott. Turns and gets back to Miller again. He's taken down by the knees, but he falls Forward past the 40.

And that is a Damon Orthodontics first down. Yet another one on the drive here for the Titans. 90 minutes to go in the first quarter, no score. It's a good way to start the game for you, High here. They're coming down here.

They're starting to build their momentum and they're making everything happen the way they want to. And they're not asking Caleb Walcott at quarterback to do too much. Nope, not at all. Just stay warm. One for one passing so far on this drive.

He found Jalen King on the left side for what eventually was a name. And Orthodontics. First down, Kings 10th catch of the year. Only one deep safety back on defense here for Lewis and Clark as Uhai drops back. Back.

Walcott fires it over the middle. That one is hauled in by Jalen King down to the 21 yard line. Actually, I take it back. That is not Jalen King. My mistake.

That's Dominic Longo, who actually played some quarterback for them a couple weeks ago. Longo's got a first down, down to the 21. This is a. This is a great drive for you, High here. They're doing everything exactly the way they need to.

Running the ball, throwing some passes in there, even throwing some tosses in there. It's a great way to start the game and tell your intel, Elsie, that you're here to play. The Longo is a big part of this university high school team. Of course you have Rico Longo and then Dominic Longo. 820 to go in the first quarter, no score but U high here all of a sudden.

Down to the Lewis and Clark 22 on their first drive. Walcott drops back and he turns and hands off on a draw play here. That's back to Malachi Miller. He's past the 20, down toward the 15 for gain of 6. The run game.

Dante kind of unstopped so far. Yeah, the run game is not being, it's not an issue at all right now for, for, for you High. They're able to come out here and run the ball wherever they want to. Certainly working for them so far. Lewis and Clark's defense and their white pants, white jerseys and black helmet caught a little bit off guard.

Only one safety back here and one on one coverage at the bottom of the field if they want it for Trey Buchanan instead. Again they turn and handoff to Malachi Miller. He goes off tackle to the left, bounces up to the 11 yard line and he's a yard short of the first down. It's going to be. I don't know, they gave it to him.

A couple generous spots already on this drive. For you High, that's another Damon Orthodontics first down. He got down to the 11. With the weather running the ball and the way they're operating on offense, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a score here. Malachi has came out here and definitely has shown that he's ready to score.

Yeah, we have not seen a lot out of the Lewis and Clark up front except the very first play of the game. Yeah, that's, that's all we had and I thought it was going to be a little bit different. The series four down, defensive lineman here for Lewis and Clark. Three linebackers, only one deep safety back. They send the man in motion.

Walcott drops back. It's play action. He rolls out to his right. He's looking to the end zone. Throws on the run down to the five yard line.

It's hauled in by Jalen King. He makes the catch and falls out of bounds for a gain of 8 yards. It's a big time play there. That's a hard, that's a hard play to make when you're rolling out to your right like that and you're left handed quarterback. I was going to say it's one thing if you're right, but if you're lefty that's purely across your body.

Yep, that might be something that the coach has seen last week. That's why he was starting tonight. So Now Caleb Walcott, second week quarterback here, two for two with two pretty good throws. 640 to go here in the first quarter. First drive, new first down.

Here's the handoff. It's Malachi Miller. He bounces off the back of his offensive line. He runs around the corner to the right and into the end zone for a touchdown. I don't think you've seen it there.

Did you see when he got that little that little boost? Yeah, he did. Running into his own O line. Gave him a little bit of a boost there. Carried him straight into the end zone.

Nice. Would have been a little bit easier for Lewis and Clark and they had a guys waiting around the other side, but he kind of bounced off his old lineman like a pinball. And when he spun to the right, there was no one there. Yeah, they had no idea where he went. They were lost.

Yeah, it wasn't very impressive by their defense to not really get any stops there and just allow them to do whatever they wanted on that drive. All right, so you high up a touchdown early. Time for Lewis and Clark to come out for their first drive of the game. They take over from the 25 yard line. Charles Northern, their quarterback, about six feet tall, a right hander, comes out out of the shotgun, turns and pitches to Gents Hilbert on their first play from scrimmage.

He's past the 30 yard line as he shakes off a tackle up to the 32, gain of about 7 yards on the play. Not surprised to see them start the game with a pinch to Gents Hilburn. Dante, we broadcast the LC game last week. We both thought he was their best player on offense. He definitely came out ready to play last week and he played the entire game with like, like he had a fire underneath him.

And for them to come out here on the first play like that and pitch it to him and show that they're going to give it to their best star player. What was it about the way he plays that made you think he was so dynamic? He wasn't going down, he was running hard and he was trying to get as many yards as he possibly could. All right, so second down and three coming up here for Northern LC in white pants, white jerseys and black helmets, driving right to left across your radio dial. And here's the snap on second down.

Turn and handoff. The Matt Hare, his first carry of the game, but he is driven down to the backfield by the defensive line. The O line. Just let the D line straight up get through all the cracks and all the gaps. That's a loss of one.

Third down coming up. Interesting you said that. So I was noticing right when they lined up there was a huge gap between the center and the guard there. And that's the same exact gap that they went through because the realm was going the opposite way. Nice to see though that they started using Matt hare here on the second carry of the game.

We loved Matt here last week. In fact, we were wondering why they didn't use him more. Yeah, I was. I was wondering. His big frame is that guy they needed to get the yards that they definitely needed.

But starting off this game, giving the ball to the right people, this should be a good game. Matt Harris, 6ft tall, 220 pounds. He's a thick thicc running back for Lewis and cross Clark. Ui up a touchdown here and Elsie on their first drive, turns and hand off to Jen Silburn. He's up to the 39 yard line.

That's an Amen Orthodontics. First down. Man, did he shoot right through the gap that time. Very quick. That's exactly what he does every time he touches the ball.

There's no reason not to give it to him at least a couple times every single drive. Well, it's funny. When LC started to look better last week, when their offense started to churn, it's because they were just feeding Hilburn play after play. Yeah, they. They switched to the wildcat, gave it straight to Hilburn and he.

And he made plays every single play. Can't do that the entire game. So let's see what Charles Northern and the rest of the Tigers offense does here as part of their first year triple option scheme. Three down linemen here for u high, but two linebackers look like they're coming on the blitz. Turning handoff right up the middle.

That's an actually. In fact, it was a fake handoff. Northern took it himself. Maybe a gain of one as he fell forward to hunting. That did not fool anyone.

Did not fool anyone at all. The craziest part about that is he kind of lost. He miss, snapped it there. I think he wanted to hand it off and ended up not getting a good handle on that. We got to make sure we don't do that.

Turnovers were a huge problem for them last week. Did you like what you saw out of Charles Northern last week at qb? I did like what I saw. He showed that he can run the ball very, very well. It's just that we got to get some passes completed through the air.

All right, Northern comes out under the gun. He has three receivers split out to the right and one tight end. And now they put Hilburn in the backfield here for second down and nine Takes a long snap, takes it and pitches that out to Hilburn on the speed option. He's past the 50 yard line to the 45, the 40. A huge gain on the play.

Almost 20 yards for Jens Hilburn. Boy, did he put on the jets and down inside the LC40. I'm loving what I see out of him early. Yeah, they got the ball in his hands real early this, this game. Last game we waited a long time in order to see that.

It feels like Joe Ireland and the coaching staff maybe learned their lesson from last week. Oh yeah, definitely. They see what you can do with the ball in his hands and I'm someone who, who can definitely attest to that. I enjoy seeing him with the ball and he, he is someone who was very hard to take. Down three twenty to go here in the first quarter.

Seven nothing you high but LC is moving. They're down to the Lewis and Clark 37 yard line here on their first drive. Three receivers out to the right and Hilburn in the backfield here for northern from the 39 to put a man in motion. It's a fake handoff. Northern keeps it himself, runs forward for a gain of two yards before he's taken down.

Three minutes to go in the quarter. I think on that play you should have handed off to Hilburn. Hilbert had a nice gap with it with no one around him he would hand it off there. I'm pretty sure they would have gained at least six yards on that play based on what we're seeing so far out of Hilburn. Unless you high finds a schematic way to stop him.

He just looks so, more, so much more athletic than everyone else on the field that if they run a speed option, I'm not sure you I can catch him. There's no way. He's very speedy. Speedy McQueen out there, he's running very fast. I like that he's running with, with speed and with power.

All right, gain a one on the play. Second down and nine coming up here for Lewis and Clark. Northern out of the gun and now he's got Matt Hare in the backfield. The 6 foot tall 220 running back and he feeds hair on the play and the linebackers are right there to meet him. Falls forward maybe a gain of one as the linebackers came around the edge and that's going to bring up third down and eight and we might see Northern have to throw for the first time.

We saw Northern throw a little bit last week against Mount Spokane. He looked more comfortable running the ball. This will be an interesting play call here to Hunt a. It will be interesting, but if he does decide to throw, we need to make sure that's a completion because last thing we need is for them not to put their foot on the ball again. Third down and eight to go here.

They're down at the Lewis and Clark 35 yard line. This has been a great start to the drive, but it is potentially going to stall out here as Hilburn comes in. They're gonna run the Wildcat takes a high snap and he's dropped almost immediately as he gets back to the 34. That'll bring up fourth down with 135 to go here in the first quarter. This has been flying by.

This might be go for it territory though. Dehante from the 35. I say go for it here. You need all the momentum you can get. They're.

They're down 70 and last week when they were down 7 0, it ended up just trickling to 14 to 21 and the score just kept on rising here. We need to gain all the momentum they possibly can get, give the ball to Hilburn and allow him to make plays. All right, so let's see if they go to Charles Northern, their quarterback, or if they go to Gents Hilburn out of a Wildcat formation. They've got 15 seconds on the play clock here and they brought Hilburn back out with the play call. They're gonna have to work quick to get this one off.

They've got about eight seconds and now they rush to the line. Five seconds, four seconds, three seconds. It's Hilburn out of the Wildcat. He takes the snap and runs along the outside flags. Come in.

They didn't get it off in time to Hante. That's gonna be delay of game. That's very tough for them. I. I know exactly what play they're gonna run and give it straight to Hilburn.

He was gonna going to run right out on the outside, so all of a sudden that's going to push him back and I think that now makes it punt territory. That's a bummer because I think that would have been a first down for them. It definitely would have been. The minute he caught it, he took off. There was no one on the defense that was even ready for that.

This first quarter has absolutely flown by. Only 55 seconds left to go here in the first quarter. U High had a 5 1/2 minute opening drive. They went 75 yards down the field. This is Lewis and Clark's first drive and it's not even done yet and we are almost through the first 12 minutes of football.

We will take a quick break on the other end of this punt if they do indeed punt. But man, this has been a. This first quarter is just flawed but flown by the Hante which is a tough thing for LC here. They really have to own the tempo on offense and on defense. They have to be the.

They have to be the sole owners of the time management here. They cannot allow you high to be able to control the time or to drive down the field the way they did last the last series. Now we saw Charles Northern throw a couple of times last week against Mount Spokane. He's not bad. The problem was last week his line just didn't give him enough time.

Exactly. If the line just gets a hand on a guy for at least two seconds, he's able to get a ball thrown. All right, fourth down and six yards to go here for Lewis and Clark. They brought Charles Northern in their quarterback to go out of the gun. They've got to get down to the 28 yard line of U high.

Here comes the snap. It's a good one. It's a speed option to Gents Hilbert. He's dropped the right away on fourth down. That'll be a turnover and take us to a break on the RB's GSL Game of the Week on 700 ESPN and 105.

He goes bounces left off tackle, turns that into a gain of 8 yards as he scampers toward the far sideline.

And he's taken down out of bounds to stop the clock with 31 seconds to go in the quarter. If Elsie wants to see any difference within this game, they have to counter on those opportunities. You had three guys in the backfield to make a TFL there at this rate. We liked what we saw out of the Lewis and Clark offense, but if their defense cannot stop the running game for Malachi Miller and it's going to be this easy for you high, they're not going to have a chance.

Dante. And we have a flag on the field holding on the U High offense. That was kind of a late flag that came in. Yeah, that was very late. Kind of a bummer there.

But I'm pretty sure you have to counter off that. Based on what we have seen so far, the answer is a definitive yes. Based on the numbers I am looking at right now, I think only two plays have been stopped for less than two yards so far. Yeah, I agree with that. I definitely agree with that.

So nice to hear the cheerleaders in the student section here tonight for the Titans at U High, one of the great venues out here in the Valley. And after the 10 yard penalty, it'll be second down and 18 here for the Titans. Two receivers off to the right and one to the left. And we have a timeout being called from the near side, it looks like. And U High will take a timeout with 31 seconds to go here in the first quarter.

UI on top of Lewis and Clark, seven nothing. So Dante, let's try to diagnose this a little bit. If you're Lewis and Clark, right, if you're the coach, Joe Ireland, if you're the defensive coordinators up here in the press box, based on what you're seeing now, how do you try to stop Malachi Miller?

They need to blitz them. They need to make sure that there's guys there to contain every single gap that they have. He's Bouncing it every single time. Put somebody out there to contain him, make them cut back in and allow your alley players to come down and make plays. It's very rough when every time you have guys shooting the gaps and you have three guys in the backfield and he bounces outside of you that we miss those tackles.

So we have to make them cut back in to where there's more defensive players there. I'll tell you what's pretty amazing. He's actually kind of a thick guy for how fast he runs. 5, 8, 200. He's fast?

Oh yeah, he's definitely fast. And when you get close to him, he throws out that stiff arm and that tends to be the reason he's getting so many yards out there. We have still not seen any runs out of U High for Dayton Thompson or Ethan McCurgo earlier in the year. This was kind of a three headed monster. So far it's just an Alkai Miller show.

Oh yeah, I want to see a reason to put those running backs in right now with the way he's cooking. All right, after the timeout, after the stoppage of play, second down and 18 here for you. High on their second drive of the game was Walcott comes out, throws to the near side on the play, is back. Then Dominic Longo for his second catch of the game. He's wrapped up for maybe a gain of one as he got to the 30 yard line on the right hash mark.

That'll make the clock run 20 seconds to go in the quarter and that might be it for the quarter. Yeah, that's a good defensive play. Like I said, blink, bring the blitz. The linebacker was right in the quarterback's face. The mini snapped it.

He's a big dude in a basketball player. Six foot two and 175 pounds. Here's kind of a rugby kick as Thomas rolls around and kicks it off to the right side out of bounds. That one fell somewhere between the 40 and the 50 so great field position for LC for their second drive as they could take over. Down seven nothing.

If LC comes out the same way they did last drive, I'm pretty sure that they can get close to the end zone here and get some points on the board. Yeah, if they keep feeding Jen Silburn. Nothing to stop them. Nope, nothing's going to stop them and nothing's going to be and this defense isn't for sure stopping them. So we saw Matt Harrigan incorporated a little bit on that last drive.

We saw Tommy Mickelson on the field. Still have not seen a lot of Tyler Jones, their best receiver, 6 foot 3, but they just have not been throwing enough really to use him. 11:48 to go until halftime. Lewis and Clark down seven, nothing. And here comes Charles Northern under center for their second drive.

Starting right at midfield on the 50 yard line. That ball is on the ground. Northern fumbled it and U High says they have it at midfield and they do. Oh my. Northern just fumbled it away and lost it.

So LC had a really amazing chance there and then all of a sudden they gave it away. So Titans take over on the wrong side of the 50. If you're Lewis and Clark, they take over from the Tiger 49 yard line. So here goes U High, they had a second drive that did not do too much. And Elsie comes out with a look at blitzing linebackers.

Here's a run along the right side. They turn and hand off the Dayton Thompson, his first handoff of the game. He goes around the right side, beats a couple of linebackers. He's up to the 49 yard line, maybe the 39 for a gain of 9 or 10. And maybe they're giving Malachi Miller a break here.

Dante, it's rough for LC when you get a, when you get a good opportunity like that to, to make a play and. Or to have the momentum and you guys fumble it like that. So coming out like this, you, highs can definitely take control of this game again. And that was a David Orthodontics. First down for Dayton Thompson.

He's a faster, smaller running back who's definitely hard to tackle. Nice to see them mixing it up here and not just running this game entirely on the shoulders. Malachi Miller 11:15 to go here in the quarter as Uhai comes out with two receivers split to the left, the one in the slot, one at the top and then I've got Dayton Thompson in the backfield again. It's a draw play. They go to him, he's kind of bunched up between his offensive lineman, falls forward, maybe a gain or two to the right hash.

All Elsie needs to do here is continue to stop and contain, contain their offense and then they can get their offense back on the field. So Malachi Miller been phenomenal. If they can get Deaton Thompson going and then maybe establish a couple times a drive, good pass plays to guys like Jalen King or Dominic Longo. That's a really balanced offense. Really balanced.

And makes the defense have a long day. Hard to get that balanced in high school. It is. That's just what happens when you have key players that you can go to and you can trust. All right, second and nine after the gain of one.

And here comes Walcott, the lefty. He drops back. It's another draw play and flags coming in. This will be on the offense. Yeah, penalties tend to be issue for this, uh, team.

These last two drives and ones that have kind of killed him. That's the thing. To go from second and eight to second and 18 for a team that has had some trouble completing passes this year, that's asking a lot. Yeah, it definitely is. Especially when you get guys who are running for a few yards, eight yards, eight, eight, nine yards.

Then you get a penalty that brings you all the way back. That's rough. And it definitely kills the momentum of the team. You high on offense after the penalty. Second down and 14.

They're leading Lewis and Clark here seven nothing. But their offense has been moving on the far right hash mark. One on one coverage down at the bottom of the field here for Trey Buchanan as Walcott drops back. He gives another draw play. This time it's Dayton Thompson.

He's wrapped up. Back around the 49 yard line for a big loss. Maybe five or six yards on the play. This is going to be third down in a mile. More than 20.

This is the, this is the defense that needs to come out here and play every single play, every single series. Yeah. Where is this LC defense been? Those have been great plays. These are, these are great plays.

You can't ask too much more from them for sure. Well, if the LC defense can keep doing stuff like this, we're going to have a game. Oh, yeah. We were a little bit worried after that first drive for you high that LC wasn't going to have any firepower to match. I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried, but maybe it just took him a little while to get warmed up.

Third down and 21. Let's see if they're conservative or they really go for it here. He's a screenplay to the far side. They dump it off to Jalen King and the LC defense was ready for it. They stuff him back across the wrong side of the 50.

This is going to be fourth down again. Second time in a couple minutes here for you, High. Oh, yeah. This is another opportunity for Elsie to come out here and get an opportunity to put some points on the board. All right, so Max Meyer goes back inside the 20 yard line on the far left side of the field for Lewis and Clark.

We've only seen one real drive for the Tigers. They're about to start their second. But again at the start of the quarter, Charles Northern fumbled it away on the first place. So this will really be the, the second drive we see for LC after the punt here from Thompson, Sam Rather. Thomas.

Sam Thomas back in the 38. He kicks right to left across your radio dial. Max Meyer lets this one bounce, takes it down at the six yard line. He chose to pick it up. He nearly fumbled it.

Oh, man. He was able to fall in it around the seven. That was silly. He should have let that one bounce. It's kind of an interesting choice there because the ball was rolling for about 6 yards, 6, 7 yards, before he decided to pick it up and he almost dropped.

Oh, yeah. That could have been horrible for their team. Okay, so Lewis and Clark does take over after a kind of questionable play there by the six foot two return man, Max Miller. But they are starting their, technically their third drive, really their second drive, in the shadow of their own goalpost from what looks to be the 7 or 8 yard line. Elsie white pants, white jerseys, black helmets with orange accents driving left to right across the radio.

And University High School gold pants, gold helmets and maroon jerseys on defense. Charles Northern on offense, turns back after the snap and he runs play action. Dumps it off to the top to Jen silburn at the 10 yard line. He scampers up toward the 15 to the 19 before he's pushed out of bounds. Got about 9 or 10 yards on the play.

If he didn't get to the sticks, that'll be close. He did. That's an emittorthodontics first down. That's all they need to do there is continue to drive the ball and just make plays. Do you like using Hilburn there as a receiver?

I do. I like him as a receiver. I mean, it's a little bit harder. I'd rather see him just directly with the ball in his hands. But as long as they're getting yards, they're getting and they're moving the chains, that's all they need.

I think if Hilburn is touching the ball 50% of the time, Elsie's got a chance. That's very true. Taking their time though, they're sending Northern back out from the far sideline with the play call from his head coach, Joe Ireland. Northern a pretty good quarterback based on what we saw last year week. Six feet tall, 185 pounds, a junior, his first year running this triple option system.

Puts his hands behind the air for a high snap. Turns and hands off here to Hilbert. And this time the U High defense was ready. The linebacker swarm along the left side. Take him down at the line of scrimmage, no gain.

It's a very aggressive play by the defense there. You had four guys on Hilbert the minute he got the ball backfield. So they're going to start keying him, right? They have to. Oh yeah.

They're going to know who to who to start putting players on. Gotta think they have to. So after the loss, second down and 11 here. Coming up as the wind starts to pick up a little bit here at University of High School in the Valley Dehante. Man, look at all those kids down there in the student section.

Isn't that great? It's amazing. It's nice to see fans back, students back, everyone cheering along this, this great team. Started to feel like fall these last two weeks here in Spokane. Right.

Only one deep second safety back for LC. They're expecting run and they will get it. It's a pitch along the near side to the big running back, the six feet tall Matt Hare. These are good play calls here by the LC office coordinator. But the defense U High defense is swarming to the ball way too fast. I think if you're elsa, you got to keep him honest and maybe try to pass play eventually. You have to, you have to use your weapon. You have a big receiver.

He turns and hands off to the big guy and he gets maybe two yards out of it. There will be no throwing here for Luke Lewis and Clark and that'll be a fourth down situation after the game of two. Like you said we gotta keep them honest. And this defense doesn't have to be too honest right now. All they need to do is just attack wherever they think the ball's going because they're running it every single play.

So this is a punting situation. Lewis and Clark will come off from the sideline. Yep, they're sending out their their punter. That is Wilson Hash, who looked pretty good last week despite the fact that he got rushed a couple of times. And back to reception.

The kick here is Dayton Thompson for U High, back at his own 46 yard line, across the big U at midfield. He's right underneath the gold right side of the U logo. Three seconds on the play clock. Let's see if they can get this one off. They do at the last second.

And I think that this offense is definitely making, trying to make Caleb Walcott make plays that a right handed quarterback will make. Yeah. Yeah, both offenses are looking a little bit stagnant right now. So is going to be a defensive showdown. We needed to get a turnover on one side and score and that's the way that we're going to get some points on the board. The hanse Hayes, are you a little surprised at this based on how good these offenses looked at the start of this game? I am actually very surprised.

Especially with the LC defense. We didn't see too much from them in the first series. No kidding. Yeah, I kind of thought you high was going to run run roughshod. But so far definitely not.

Bring another lineman onto the field here. So second down three, they snap it directly to Hilbert and he gets behind his big running back, Matt Hare, but he's dragged backwards by the jersey by a couple of linebackers. No gain on the play.

This will be a big third down. This is a huge third down for them. They have to get a first down here and show that one of these offenses at least has some life. Are these coaches just trying to get to halftime with kind of a stalemate here? What do you think?

I think they're trying to put it in Genesis hands every play, which is something that's it was a great idea in the in the first series, but now the U High defense starting to queue into that also. They're having a little bit of too many miscues here, guys running onto the field right before the clock runs down. I would say the offenses are looking a little bit sloppy. A little bit sloppy for sure. Yeah, I think you're right about that.

So again they will send Northern back out onto the field with a play call. Actually I take that back. That is Gent Silver and they're going to run the Wildcat again for their star running back slash wide receiver. He's got Matt here who's going to be a lead blocker standing behind him on third and two. He's going to fake it.

He'll pitch it. Always a bad pitch. It's onto the ground. Recovered though by his teammate Max Meyer. Although he's driven back down inside the five yard line on the botched option play.

That'll bring up a fourth down and they're gonna punt from a man probably their own end zone. Yeah, that's a rough play. Very rough play there. And needed a first down there he was. I know he wanted to get it but that pitch was.

Was out of whack. He was. The guy was a little bit too far away from him. Well, that is an absolutely brutal call for Lewis and Clark because now not only do they have to punt from inside their own end zone, but Dayton Thompson back to receive the punt for you. High is only back on the LC 35 yard line.

This is going to be a really short field for them. The question also is can they get this one away? Wilson Hash is going to kick this one from the S in a University spelled out of the end zone. He's punching from his own end zone. Going left to right.

High snap. Not a good snap. It's taken down in the end zone. No, he got the kick away as he was blasted by a couple of defenders. It takes a U high bounce down to the 18 yard line.

Only 18 yards to go here for University High School. Unless we get a penalty on that kick. We definitely get a hand on the guy there. But the punt return guy just came straight through, was able to. Was able to make a good play there and the punt was definitely shanked.

Yeah, I do not see a flag on the field for what would have been roughing the kicker. Although I saw contact so you high up 7 nothing on offense going right to left across the field here. They've only got what, 18 yards to go. Short field. It's amazing field position.

I would not be surprised they scored here. You have to take advantage of this field position and really get the momentum back because right now both teams look very, very dead down there. So if you're you high, are you just feeding Malachi Miller here? Yeah. Give it to.

Give it to the star who was doing everything earlier. He hasn't. He didn't get too many touches since earlier in the game and he needs to get the ball back in his hands. Two minutes in three seconds to go. Two minutes and three seconds until halftime.

Still seven nothing. Uhai. What else have you seen out of the offense that you've liked from them tonight other than Malachi Miller? I think we like Jaylen King and. And Dominic Longo.

Yeah, those two guys definitely came out and shown that they can have the ball in their hands and there's someone that the quarterback can go to when, when needed. It just put a lot of pressure off of Malachi's shoulders because it shows that he doesn't have to do everything. I can't tell what we stopped the game here for. It's not an official timeout. Maybe it's.

It doesn't look like an injury timeout either. So I'm wondering what the clock is officially stopped here for on the field with 2:03 to go until halftime. I think they were waiting to see if there was going to be a kick on the penalty on the kick or something. There is not. So here comes U high.

They've only got man, 17 yards to go. They're taking over from the LC 17 yard line, but we know they like to run the ball. Good news is for them that they do have a couple of timeouts left here. Malachi too? Oh yeah, that's the biggest thing too because you know Malachi is going to get some yards here and you don't want him just to directly run the clock out.

It gives LC a chance to come down and score after this series. All right, so Walcott comes out under center, the left handed quarterback in his first game running the show. He's got two receivers split to the right and he's got Malachi Miller waiting for him in the backfield. On defense, Lewis and Clark on all white with black helmets that come out with only one deep safety back. They're jamming the line of scrimmage on first down.

It's a draw play. They feed Miller, he goes nowhere. Huge play by the LC defense there. Getting a stop there really brings them back. You need to take them back as many yards you can.

That was huge. Huge. That exactly what they needed. Having four or five guys right there to wrap up Malachi Miller, make him go backwards instead of forward is big when you're at the 17 yard line. Just jam the box.

Why not? You know what they're going to do. Exactly. There's. There's no other place for them to go on that in that amount of time.

But they are playing with fire here. You high taking their time between plays. 130 to go until halftime. After the loss of three, they're back on the 21. Same formation, one man in the backfield, two receivers split to the side.

Walcott drops back. This time he's going to throw lefty, looks deep downfield into the end zone. He's got one on one coverage and he overshot Jalen King. That's a good play. Call there to take a chance there.

Go ahead, throw it up in the air and make the wide receiver come down with that. It's tough that. That it was a little bit too overthrown. Now the bummer for them is it was incomplete. The potential good news, it does stop the clock.

It gives them another shot here to throw on third down and 12. Oh, yeah. And they don't have to worry about the clock running down on them. So it gives them another opportunity to really take their time with this. All right, so that was the first incomplete pass of the game for the sophomore lefty Caleb Walcott.

Let's see what it does. Same formation, two receivers to the right, one to the left. The offensive line breaks down, but just in time for him to hand off the Malachi Miller. He's down inside the 15. Falls down to the 12.

He did not get the first down, but it's going to be close. Fourth down and maybe 4 yards to go with 105 to go. I think maybe they go for it here. What do you think? They should definitely go for it here.

Not too far away from the first down, Malachi is running like a monster and I say just give it back to him and let's get some yards here. Let's see what they do. Down to the 12 yard line and it looks like they are going to bring out their kicking team. I am surprised by that. Trey Buchanan into hold here for U High and Sam Thomas is going to kick this one in.

The ball's on the 11, so call this a 27 yard kick for U High. The order leads, 7 nothing. Trying to take a 10 nothing lead into the break here with 31 seconds to go and a timeout on the sideline from Lewis and Clark. You like the move to freeze them? I do like to move.

It might throw off the kicker for sure. They weren't too sure about going for it in the first place. I feel like they should have had Malachi come out here and run the ball again. He's running really hard. All right, so.

So tell me why you. You would want to go for it here instead of maybe getting a 10 nothing lead. You guys already up one possession. Only thing you're gonna do here is go up two possessions before half. But you're giving yourself an opportunity to definitely get into the end zone here with Malachi and you do have a timeout left still.

Exactly. And you have a timeout. So therefore you can definitely take advantage of this game game and control it. The Way you want to think there's a chance they come out with the offense here after this timeout that they got? I don't think so.

I think they have their mindset set on kicking this field goal and going ahead and turn it and get ready for halftime. Yeah, it's actually even crazier if you think about the completely different type of playing style they play with. You have Malachi Miller, who is a bowling ball over here, he's running through guys. And then you have Jens Hoburn who can just speed right past you. All right, so here comes Lewis and Clark. They take over from their own 17 yard line after the kick.

Here comes Charles Northern out on their center. One receiver split each way with inside 30 seconds to go. And until halftime, he turns and gives to Matt Hare who's dropped for a loss on the play. The big linebacker slash running back dropped to the 15 and the clock will continue to run down to 15 seconds. And that might be the end of the first half with U high up 7 nothing on Lewis and Clark.

A quick reaction here. Former Eastern star to Hante Hayes. We saw a lot of quick offense to start the game in the first quarter since then, a lot of defense and it went pretty fast.

It did go pretty fast, but that's what happens when you give the ball to your star running backs on both sides of the ball. They came out and showed that they can definitely have the ball in their hands and make plays. Not much of a first half recap here statistically to get a University high school went 75 yards and five and a half minutes on their first drive of the game. Malachi Miller, big number 24. He's been a star tonight for them and he's been a star all season.

He punched in a touchdown on their first drive at the first 5:30 mark to go in the first quarter. After that we did not see any scoring. We saw right before halftime uhai tried to kick through a field goal. Nothing doing so just a touchdown. I think we were expecting a little more offense in the first half.

So the big games that we were watching, of course number one with a bullet, G prep at CV at the moment, Central Valley up 14 to 7 on Gonzaga prep. I think the Hunte that one's gonna go down to the wire. Yeah, I can definitely hear that. 14 to 7. Wow.

I actually have to take it back. Sorry. Gonzaga Prep 14, Central Valley 7. So the option is working elsewhere A Richland at Mead coming up from the Tri State Cities. Richland always a really good football team.

They have been for a long time, especially the last 10 years or so. They in Shijuana always stimping to buy for the best high school football honors coming out of the Tri Cities area. Elsewhere, Mount Spokane at Ferris. Mount Spokane leading pretty convincingly at halftime. Rogers Pullman also in action and Ridgeline Cheney going on out out to the west side as well.

So nine minutes to go here until we are ready to kick off this second half between Lewis and Clark and University High School at the break. U high up seven nothing. Coming up on the other side of the break, we're gonna give it our first half MVPs and kind of predict what we're gonna see coming up in the second half. University High School Titans 7, Lewis and Clark Tigers nothing. Greg Talbot and former Eastern Washington football star to Hante Hayes with you here tonight riding shotgun on our radio broadcast. The great Steve Pry the wingman back in our 700 ESPN studios and to Hanse time to give out our first half MVPs. Usually, you know, you and I will do some consultation during the commercial break. We'll kind of say, you know, let's give and take.

Who do you think? Who do you think? I didn't even ask you this time. I think we have our two MVPs. There was nothing to ask.

I mean the first half was pretty cut and dry for both sides. They gave the ball to one person basically. Yeah. So for Lewis and Clark, we loved Gents Hilburn last week when we saw him against Mount Spokane. He was clearly their most dynamic player on offense and they fed him multiple times on each of their drives, often actually going to him out of the Wildcat.

Yeah, that's the best way. Give it straight to him, let him go ahead and make a play. So coming out of the second half, are we going to expect to see more of that or is you hide it's going to start keying on him. I think we need to start giving the ball to a few of your other key players here. I definitely want to see Tyler Jones make some plays here and also quarterback Charles Northern.

He wasn't, he wasn't able to make too much plays the way he did last week. Last week he was definitely a huge key to offense. He definitely was running the ball more further downfield last week and actually got a couple of good passes off last week. Yes, he did. He's been a little bit quiet in that first half.

Yeah, Matt Hare was such a presence for them as a lead blocker last week. They've handed it off more to him tonight. This hasn't been able to do much with it. He has not been able to do much as you high defense has been all over him all during the first half. And for our first half MVP for the U High Titans, we kind of came into the game thinking it might be TJ Haberman.

Instead Caleb Walcott has been playing quarterback. I think he's looked pretty good in A normal game, we might say Caleb Walcott, but man, it's all Malachi Miller. Oh, yes, all Malachi Miller. He is out there making plays. He's running through dudes running around, dudes bouncing to the outside.

He has been an unstoppable force. When we talked to the coaches before their game against Cheney a couple weeks ago, I said, tell me about Malachi Miller. Coach Caleb Madison says, oh, he's a menace. He really is a menace. 5, 8, 200 pounds, a straight bowling ball ready to run people over.

Yeah, we don't have official halftime stats. If I had to wager, I would think he's probably coming up on 500 yards on this season. Coming into this game, he had a hair over 400 yards and two touchdowns. He's now got three touchdowns. I think he probably had, what, 60 yards rushing in that first half.

Maybe 70, I believe. So the 75 yard drive they had in the first, in the first series is. Was basically all because of him. All right, and talk to me about second half predictions. @ the beginning of the game, you and I kind of looked at each other and we're like, oh, because UHAI came out, went 75 yards in five and a half minutes.

Yeah. Completely unstoppable. Since then, though, I. It's been a scoreless game. I kind of don't know exactly what we're going to see.

I think UHI's offense is a little bit more dynamic, but if we know anything about the option is one play can break the game open. That's true. And I think that what happened with UHAI is that in the, in the. Towards the end of that first half, they weren't giving the ball to Malachi Miller as much. And the penalties definitely hurt them a lot.

If we can just cut out those penalties and give the ball to the person who's making the most plays, I think they can definitely run away with this. All right, let's predict it. Dehante Hayes, what do you think we see in the second half? I think the LC is going to come out and their defense is going to be a little bit more aggressive. They're very aggressive right now, and they're stopping you high the way they need to.

As long as they keep that going and get their offense run, I think LC could still pull this off. Can LC stop Malachi Miller? That's a tricky one. It just depends on how much UH gives it to him. I guess we will find out.

All right, here we are back in our Arby's GSL Game of the Week broadcast on 700 ESPN and 105. 3 FM. The University High School Marching band just gave a great halftime performance and the UI student section's got to be feeling pretty happy about what they have seen so far at the break, u high 7 LC nothing.

Although with almost no time left on the clock here, I'm a little bit confused because this marching band is still on the field. So while we get ready for maybe probably another minute or two until we get ready to start the second half, let's bring back in our color commentator tonight, former Eastern Washington football star to Haunte Hayes. Let's talk a little bit about the football that we saw almost a week ago last Saturday night, your Eastern Eagles taken on the Montana Grizzlies, number six versus number four in the fcs. I was there. You were watching.

Of course, if you're listening to this tonight, might have been listening to Larry and Paul called the game on the radio. What a game to remember as a former member of that football team. How incredible was that? It's incredible just seeing them take the field every single week. But last week was a little bit special.

We always love playing against the Grizz and going against them at home makes it that much better. We're, what are we, 170 in the last three years at home. And it's just something that we want to defend every single game. So you and I were talking before the game. I would like to hear your opinion on this as a former player for Eastern.

So my dad was in town. I just wanted to go to the game. I didn't care how he got tickets. We bought tickets. Turns out it was right next to the Montana fan section.

Those are intense, mean football fans. What is it like to play against the Montana Grizzlies fans? Oh, they're really gritty. They get down, they get dirty, and they're right up in your face, in your ear the entire game. They make sure you know that they're Grizz fans.

I mean, shoot, last week when we were watching the Mount Spokane versus LC game, we had a few Grizz fans sitting down there. They. They didn't make sure they don't take off their gear until the season's over. And that's. That's maybe.

And if it. And I know that Missoula is not that far away. It's what, only just about three hours. But talk about a fan base that travels. They had a lot.

They had their own parking lot full of people with RVs. Yeah, that's. That's something. That's different. That's something.

I think we're growing and we're getting. Right now we're starting to get a lot more fans. I was in a insane show out from the fans and from the student up at that game on Saturday. So based on what we saw out of Eastern Washington against Montana in that game Eastern now going into this weekend, I think it's Northern Colorado tomorrow night Eastern up to number four in the standings.

As a former player perspective based on what you saw out of the team, is this a team that that can and should be looked for in the semifinals? I definitely see them going very, very far if from the semifinals on. I see them going to that the whole way. And the reason why I think this is because they have keys who are stepping up, who are players who are stepping up who weren't doing the biggest things last year. Like for instance, Tololo, he came out in the spring, went insane and then last week, what was it, 11 catches or for 213 or something like that insane.

Based on what you saw, based on what you heard, based on what the chatter was among the former Eastern players, is there anything that the team could tighten up a little bit to make sure that it isn't that close Again, I just think we got to make sure that our key players continue to make key plays and you can't put it all on the back shoulders of a few players. Well back here for our high school football game of the week. Talk about a game that has been all on the shoulders of a couple of key players. Speaking of that University High School 7 Lewis and Clark, nothing else. He's offense will take over to start the second half.

They'll get the Papa Murphy's kickoff. Change the way you pizza. The first half of them was all gents Hilburn can and should they Dehanty open up the playbook a little bit or is that just going to be a waste of time and maybe you just keep feeding gents, you got to open up the playbook here.

You can't expect gents to make plays the entire game because at some point he is going to get a little bit fatigued. No matter how conditioned you are, you have to use your other key players. You have all right, so Lewis and Clark comes back out of their white jerseys, white pants, black helmets and orange socks. They've got Max Meyer waiting back at the five yard line to return this kick away from Sam Thomas. At the end of 2/4 Uhai7 Lewis and Clark nothing.

We saw some good offense from the Tigers. They've just yet to put it in the end zone. Here's the Papa Murphy's kickoff. Change the way you pizza right to left across your radio dial. Recovered by Max Meyer at the Tanny runs up to the 20 yard line, scampers past a couple of defenders left, hash mark up toward the 30 yard line.

Good return. About 71, 72 yards to go here for the Tigers. Here comes their offense. What do you want to see different from them here to hunt a? I want to see them start using Charles Northern a little bit more.

We did see him use his arm and get some passes out there, but he's not really running the ball like we've seen last week. And I think he is a pretty good runner with the ball in his hands. Yeah, really. Tonight he's just been handing it off, right? He has.

And I understand why they're doing it because Jen Hilburn is doing such a great job, but we got to get it more utilizing game. All right, so the kick got him up to the kick return got him up to the 29 yard line. So 71 yards to go as Charles northern comes out in the shotgun formation. Matt hair behind him. It's a fake hands, fake handoff.

The hair rolls out to the right. He'll keep it this time. He scampers up to the 30 yard line. He did a lot of work for one yard on that play to hunt a second and nine. Yeah, it's tough when you got a lot of guys in your face like that and you want to go for it deep, but shoot, he's showing that he could still use them legs and so that's something that can definitely open up this, this defense wide.

Well, I love the fact that it was a fake handoff to Matt Hare. I was hoping to see him gun it over the top instead, you know, gain a one on the run. Yeah, that's tough when you have those guys coming in there that fast. We got to get the office line to get some hands on some guys. All right, so two receivers split to the left here for LC and one to the near side.

And that is the big six foot three, Tyler Jones. They've not thrown to him yet. Tonight on second and nine, here comes hair out of the backfield. It's a low snap fake to him. They throw to the left side.

Northern fires it off and connects with Joey Farish. His first catch of the game. He shakes a defender. He's past the 40 yard line. That's the name of Orthodontics.

First down, gain of 11. That's how you fight for. That's how you fight for yards there. He had a guy right on him. A guy was trying to rip that ball out so bad.

I love going to that small target, Joey Farish, 5 foot 8, 140 pounds, still makes the catch. Oh, yeah, small dog with a big bite. I see it right there with the way you got that first down like that. And I like the play call. You talked about opening up the playbook.

And here they are, 10:45 to go here in the third quarter. First drive of the third quarter for LC down seven, nothing to you high. Two backs in the backfield here for LC on the new first down. Northern turns and pitches on the near side. It's the big running back, Matt here.

He had a lot of stuff space, but a flag comes in and kind of crushes what would have been a pretty good play. Yeah, there was one guy there and looked like he was going to be him for sure. Yep. We might have to come back to that play a little bit later on during the game. Man, would you listen to those cheerleaders?

But they're going to be bummed out in a second when they get this holding call on the offense. That's how you lose momentum there. But it's okay. We saw that from both teams in the first half. Really, it was U High that was the worst offenders.

Uh, I had a couple of their good drives killed by bad penalties on second and third down. That's rough, especially when you're someone who's barely getting the ball in the game. All right, 10:20 to go here. The third quarter clock ticking away. We had a very fast first half tonight between LC and U high after the penalty.

First down and 15, here's a low snap. Northern recovers, slings it off to the far side. Back to Farish, hauled in for a gain of 5 yards and a quick tackle by the corner. It'll be second down and 10. So that's a.

That's a very, very aggressive catch there. The, the defensive corner right there was all over him. Almost went for the pick, actually. Yeah, it looked like they both had their hand on the ball, but, you know, in an instance like that, it's always going to the offense. That's a great catch.

I love that catch. I'm glad you agree because, you know, so often a receiver will. Will lean out and try to make that catch. Ferris kind of let that come to him. And the defender kind of got over his back on that play too.

Yeah, he was showing he has strong hands. All right, second down and nine after the gain of six, Only two receivers split to the left side. Nobody to the right side. Two in the back field here for Northern surveys the defense. He runs the option to the left side.

He goes along the left side, gets up to the 49 yard line. Nice rush on the play. About five yards. That'll bring up a manageable third down. And they could kind of go anywhere on this next play call.

They definitely can. I'm liking the series are doing and they're. They're opening up the playbook here and touch some key players who weren't really getting that much action in the first half. Yeah. So Joey Farish, there are two catches on this first drive and a nice run there from Charles Northern.

Which is what you said you wanted to see. Exactly. They're. They're opening it up. All right, third down and along two here.

They're on their own 49 yard line. One more yard to the right, they would hit midfield at the big U. Of course, standing for U high at the center of the field. Here comes the option. Northern runs it goes bit a little along the left side, falls forward.

He's got an aim at orthodontics. First down and we got a little bit of extra physicality. After the end of the play, a flag comes in. I want to know who that's on. I think that might be on lc.

Yeah, I didn't really see it there. I was just too busy, too busy looking at Charles Northern running the ball like a. Like. Like a monster. As he should.

Why do you think they weren't running with him as much in the first half? Probably because last week it probably affected him early on in the game coming out here, making him play so aggressive. Towards the end of the game, as I said, everyone looked very exhausted and. And it also was. He was a player.

That looked like it too. Yeah. LC against Mount Spokane last week, they started to look really spent around the midpoint, maybe the end of the third quarter. Oh, yeah, it was not. It was not a good game for them.

After they came out the second half, they look like they needed some water and to take a little rest. Mount Spokane was the better team. Nothing else you can say. Exactly. Interested to see the scores around the GSL tonight?

Well, take a look at those in our postgame show. The other big score though, in case you haven't been following along on Twitter or television, the biggest game of the GSL tonight is nice and close. Gonzaga Prep 14, Central Valley 7. We're waiting to get the call here on the field from the referees. That is a personal foul on Lewis and Clark.

It was the LC player who threw a guy off him at the end of the play. Personal fouls are Always a tough one because those are things that could have been avoided. Yeah. But now here's the thing now, Deonte, listen. All of a sudden, as you hear a crowd microphone, this place was rocking a couple of minutes ago and this big personal foul just kind of, kind of took the steam out of the UI student section.

Yeah, I mean, that, that's what happens when you get penalties that just keep on affecting your team over and over again. The crowd definitely starts to feel that and then the players start to feel it as well. All right, so first down now from their own 39 yard line. They got pushed back and the whole field got pushed back about what appears to be 15 yards now from their own 39, driving left to right, here comes Charles Northern. Fakes a handoff, keeps it himself to the 45 yard line.

Scampers ahead to the 50 again, a 12 on the play and he falls across the 50 yard line for a big demon Orthodontics. First down as the student section for Lewis and Clark across the way, they're jumping up and down chanting, I believe that we will win. And here come the Tigers after the first down. That's a big time run there. Yeah, that's a big time run they needed after a penalty to making a big play like that is huge.

I would say that was the first clean looking option style run we saw tonight from Charles Northern. Yeah, and it's because they're giving the ball to multiple players. So right now the U High defense is on their heels. All right, so a new first down here for Lewis and Clark. Their offense finally moving here to start the third quarter.

8:13 to go in the quarter. Still down 7. Nothing to you, high, but LC is moving. Here comes a pitch along the near side to Jen Silver and second time he's touched it this quarter. He's past the 40 yard line.

He breaks down the sideline. The 30, the 20, the 15 to 10. Pushed out of bounds around the five. One man saved. What would have been a big touchdown for Gents Hilburn, the junior running back.

It was only a matter of time before the ball got back into his hands. Yeah, it had been a couple of plays. It's been a little while. He hasn't touched it in a little while. That's what diversifying the playbook can do, right?

It really can. It opens up players who you want to go to. Oh, oh, man. A flag back at the 50. That's going to be holding or block in the back for something.

That's a tease. That one hurts. That was going to be, man, what a 40 yard play. All of a sudden this is going to be a loss on the play. That is just, that's, that is the, that's the most difficult to stomach penalty we've seen tonight.

It's difficult and it also, it also changes dynamic of the game. How so? It allows this play, this driver drive to go on a lot longer than what you want it to. And with this already being a 70 game, it makes it to where that can definitely hurt you in the end. You're using up too much time on the clock right now, so we're waiting to see where the referees are going to put this one.

After the penalty, it looks like they've got it spotted back again on the 39 yard line for the second time this drive. They're going to pin him back at their own 39. We've got what appears to be a timeout for you high on the field and we will take it with them. It is still 7 nothing titans here midway through the third quarter. Eight minutes to go here in the third quarter on the game of the week. Seven nothing University High School on top of Lucas, Lewis and Clark after a huge penalty. First and 25 for u high back pinned on their own 39 on the left side of the 50 yard line. Here comes Charles Northern, the quarterback. He rolls right out of the pocket and is dropped for a loss of two on the play.

That'll wind the clock down inside eight minutes. And Deontay Hayes, you said something really interesting to me during the commercial break. You said LC should be winning this game. Yeah, they, they came out this second half with a huge, huge momentum boost. They're running the ball hard, they're passing it.

They're doing everything they need to do to make sure that they're moving the ball downfield. However, these penalties are definitely taking away everything that they're working hard for. Has LC been playing a better game Deal? I wouldn't say in the first half it was too much of a better game on offense, but on defense for sure. Second half, the office looking great.

Loss of two so far. So second down and 26, although it should be worse than that. Here comes Northern. He drops back into, dumps it off to gents hilburn at the 36 yard line. Short gain on the play play.

But they were ready for it again. They're keen on Hilburn. This will bring up third down in a mile. Yeah, there's no doubt about it. This U High defense is definitely keen on Hilburn.

He runs a little out route for two yards and you have three guys already on him. That means we gotta start attacking other players here. Yeah, so that'll take us down inside seven minutes to go here in the third quarter. This game continues to move right along. These are two running teams, but when they pass.

I think we've only seen what, maybe two incompletions all night. Yeah, it has not been too many incomplete, but there hasn't been too many passes in the first place either. Yeah, Lewis and Clark, when we talked to their coaches last week, they said we run between 85 and 90% of the time and that has been pretty true tonight. So here comes Northern out of the shotgun. He's flanked to Hilbert on the left.

One receiver split to each side on the right. Hash mark turns and hands off. It's a speed option to Max Meyer, 35 yard line to the 40. Spun down, big tackle, actually stays on his feet. He fell forward to the 45, but he did not get, get anywhere near the necessary 25 yards.

This is still going to be man 4th down at about 18. This will be a punting scenario. Yeah, it's, it's, it's a rough situation there when you get so many penalties that back you up that many times after big plays. I Take it back. A flag on the plate.

Let's see what this one's about. Yeah, I'm not surprised there. This could have been a truly phenomenal drive for Lewis and Clark. Instead they've just been punching themselves in the face over and over again. This is actually a face mask on U high although it's not going to give them the yardage they need to Haunted.

That wasn't going to give him 25 yards. Yeah, I don't really remember if normally if you get a face mask off it gives you a first down. I think potentially that's. The rules are different in high school. Yeah, they appear to be.

So third down and 11. So no loss of down on the play. So all of a sudden this is a much more manageable opportunity here. Third down and 11 for Lewis and Clark. As we're waiting on the referees, they're still talking things over with both coaches here on the field.

Seven nothing you high. But this has been a pretty good offensive drive to start the second half for Lewis and Clark. With this penalty it can be definitely beneficial for this LC offense. Yeah, they. You said at halftime you'd like to see them open up the playbook a little more and they have been and they had success on, on this entire drive. Even with it incomplete there or with them having a punt, they still have success throughout this entire drive. Yeah, I think this has been a pretty enjoyable game so far and it has been nice to see LC not just keep running Hilbert and Hilbert. Hilbert, right.

Yeah, it's definitely nice. It gives him a little break too for him to come back and have a big play next series. All right, so here comes the punt back at the 40 yard line for Lewis and Clark. Wilson Hash is waiting back to the 38 with his hands to the sky. It's a low snap.

He's able to get this one away as Dayton Thompson is back to receive at the 30 yard line. He will let this one bounce. It was touched. Oh man. It looks like this one was touched by Lewis and Clark.

We have a. The play is blown dead by the referees. Both teams seem to think that they have a claim to this ball. Lewis and Clark had a guy start to run it back toward the end zone. Did not happen for him.

This should be you high ball like the 31 I think. I don't know. Kind of a mess of a play. Usually if the punt returner touches the ball like that and he doesn't take possession of it and LC recovers it, then it's LC's ball. It was touched by University High School.

Lewis and Clark was right. So all of a sudden after failing for it on third down, all of a sudden it's an extra 20 yards in a new first down and a new series here for Lewis and Clark. Let's see what Charles Northern and Jen Silburn can do here as they take over from the U high 31 on the first down. Here comes Northern. Fakes a handoff, runs up the gut.

He's passed the 30 yard line, falls forward of the 25. He's got six yards. That could be a game changing play right there. How so? There's no real reason for you to come up and try and grab that ball when you have all those defenders around you.

Plus it took a bounce off the ground already. You got to just let that one go, clear it out and get your office on the field. And also if LC drives down the rest of the field and puts in a touchdown, that's. Yeah, that's a touchdown. That in the eyes of you high shouldn't have happened.

Exactly. Because they should have the bar right now and they should be driving the ball. Man, oh man, you are absolutely right. In the Lewis and Clark student section on the far side of the field here at unit University High School. They've got their phones in the air, they've got their lights on and they're waving them around.

Let's see if their offense can also make some fireworks here on second down and four. One receiver split to each side here. Lewis and Clark on the near hash mark drops back play action. Northern throws over the middle into the end zone. Incomplete pass, but a flag comes in that looks like it'll be passed interference.

He was targeting Hilburn. He was over the middle. He got behind his defender, just overshot him. Yeah, he almost had that ball. The defender did get a couple hands on him, which was illegal.

So the penalty call there is a good call by the ref. And that will be a first down here for Lewis and Clark. That should take him down, man. Inside the 20 yard line. This is just brutal for you high these last couple of minutes, Dante.

Yeah, but these are all mistakes that they, that can be corrected. Get the perma Turner right, Tell him, you know, get away from that ball and you just tell this, this defensive player over here, just don't put your hands on him. Just run with them, be a better athlete and make a play. And after the pass interference penalty, that'll take us down inside five minutes to go here in the quarter. University High School 7.

They scored on their first drive of the game. Lewis and Clark, nothing. But the Tigers are threatening for the first time. They're down on the LC14. They've got Jen Silvern in to run the wildcat.

He runs the option, pitches it along the outside inside to Mickelson. He's down inside the 10, falls forward to the seven. He's got a gain of about five. All right, here we go. That's a high IQ pitch right there because he was in the middle of getting tackled.

He was on the way down. Yeah, threw it out of his hand. Nice completion. Way better than what we've seen earlier. And by the way, again, Hilbert not the quarterback.

So to have that high IQ pitch from your running back is kind of amazing. Definitely some of you must practice often. Well, the U High student section which has been so loud tonight, as you can probably hear on our crowd microphone, has gotten pretty silent here as LC is threatening 415 to go in the third quarter. They've got it second down and caught four yards to go. They are down at the nine yard line.

Here comes Gilburn out of the shotgun. They're gonna run the Wildcat. He's met back at the 11 for a loss. Man, they brought three linebackers through the gaps and they took him down. Yeah, they had it.

They had to put their hands on there. It's pretty insane how much, how much else he's handling this game right now though. Like I said, time management is their biggest thing and they're taking the ball this entire quarter. But all of a sudden now after the loss on the play, man, it took him back to the 11 yard line. This is potentially brutal.

Third down and nine yards to go. They've got to get down to the two. So let's see what they do. Do they give it to Hilburn to let Northern run it? Do they maybe throw between the hash marks?

Matt hare, the big 6 foot running back is behind Hilbert. It's the Wildcat. He pitches an option along the far side. It's Max Meyer. He turns the corner at the 10.

He cannot get to the five. It's going to be fourth down. Dehante, what do you do? I think we should kick it here. Honestly, it's, it's a rough situation here because if you don't put any points on the board here, you just had the ball the entire quarter and didn't score any points.

Well, Wilson Hash is their punjer. He's also their kicker. The question is, will they send out the kicking unit here? That ball got down to around the eight yard line and we see a whole rush of new white jerseys onto the field. It looks like they're gonna kick.

Smart choice here by the, by the coaching staff. Safer to take points, safer to take points. You need them, you're struggling to get them. Get them while you can. So here's Wilson Hash.

He's gonna set up around the 20 yard line. Balls down on the eight. So this is a 24 yard kick. Low snap. That one has some plenty of distance.

And back to run this one up is Dalton Thompson. He's a fast one past the 20, past the 30, down the sideline. He's got one man to beat. The 50, the 40, the 30, 20, 10 5. Touchdown Dayton Thompson puts LC with their biggest lead of the game after LC finally got on the board.

Holy cow. A 95 yard touchdown return for Dayton Thompson. That's a, that's a great play there. I have, I can't say nothing but say that was a great play. They needed Points and he put it on the board.

I did not see that coming to Hunte. The thing about that is that they faked the toss or the handoff the last kickoff and then they handed it off this time. So that was a great play. They had no idea. 95 yards for Dayton Thompson.

Lewis and Clark was stuck in the middle of the field that he got to the corner, he was gone. Oh yeah. There was no one near him. Everyone went straight to the left. They thought he was gonna.

They were gonna do the same thing they did last time and fake the handoff. Well, it smells to me like we might be hearing that in the postgame show for the Alliant Insurance rather rather than the Lamar Outdoor advertising play of the game potentially might be. Here's the Pat the swing low line drive kick. It is good. Just in the left upright.

Man, oh man. Okay, here come the offenses. 14 to 3. U high, 11 point lead. That is their biggest of the game.

Yeah, they needed that one. Their office hasn't been able to get back on the field this entire quarter. Go ahead and let's take one to the house and let's put some points on the board. I got you guys. That was pretty phenomenal.

Dayton Thompson, we talked about him in the first half. He's their faster running back. He's smaller, hard to tackle. Usually shows it in a running back context. Not bad as a kick returner.

Nope, not bad at all. Especially when the entire kickoff team is going the completely opposite way from where you're running. Really, really excellent play in it now you can hear the U High cheerleaders down below us. Everyone's wearing pink tonight for breast cancer awareness. Plenty of the U High players in their revealed socks on the field tonight underneath their gold pants, wearing pink socks to hunt.

You Love it. I love it. And listen to that fight song, huh? We missed high school football around these parts of the Pacific Northwest. And all of a sudden here as Lewis and Clark gets ready to return a kick of their own to Hante, kind of feels like this next drive for them becomes really important, is very critical.

I was going to say the same thing about you, high. But now the roles have changed that quick. I didn't even get to get the words out for it. So they need to come down here and make a. Make a touchdown really quick.

And here's the kick right to left across your radio dial. Shorten down to the 20 yard line. And this one is returned by Max Meyer. Takes it on a hop with the 20. He gets back up the middle.

He Shakes a couple of guys, he's past the 40, past the 50. Down the far left sideline. One guy on his tail. The 30, the 20, the 10, the 5. Touchdown.

You have got to be kidding me. A U high kick return touchdown for Dalton Thompson. And now a 90 yard kick return touchdown for Max Meyer. Unbelievable. I take that back.

That is Gins Hilburn. Of course it is. Yeah. I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised.

Big time players make big time plays when you need big time plays made. You have got to be joking me. Okay, score now 14 to 9. This game is unbelievable. 209 to go in the third quarter.

And of course it was Hilbert. Of course. So here's what, here's what was interesting about that. The actual kick returner, Max Meyer was standing there ready to gobble it up. I think Hilburn just like jumped him.

He jumped the, the bounce. He full speed ran straight past him, picked the ball up and just ran. He never even gave anybody else opportunity. He jumped his teammates bounce. Who cares, It's a touchdown.

Yeah, he said, you want to hesitate? I'm going to take it and we're going to score the kick up and through. And we're back to a close game. It looked like LC might be out of luck. 14 to 10 is our score.

Looks like we're gonna have a nail biter here. It could go down to the wire. Well, this game is starting to get a little bit drunk, Dante, you know what I mean? Oh yeah. When, when I was saying it earlier, I said the defensive need to make some plays, but I didn't put two and two together and say that the special teams can also make plays as well.

This is huge by both teams. This is a momentum boost on both sides. We could see these two teams come out here and clash against each other when they go back on offensive defense. So just to be clear, the score. U high 14.

Lewis and Clark, 10, 24 combined points between those teams. 14 out of the 24 points from kick returns in the last three minutes. You, you, you. That's exactly what you train every day for when you're on special team. Unbelievable.

And it feels to me like now that the game is kind of loosening up a little bit, I kind of think we see another touchdown or two. I do. I definitely think that we see a couple more touchdowns from both teams. Honestly, their offices have had time to rest, get their legs ready and now they're ready to come out here and fire off. And now you can hear the band playing.

We will rock you, you can feel the stadium seats shaken beneath us. Press box is kind of moving around. Dehante. The fans here know that we've got a good one lining up here for what's going to be the fourth quarter. Oh, yeah, we're up here rocking with them too.

A high short kick to the 30 yard line and returned by one of the up men to the 33. So pretty good field position here for Lewis and Clark. Let's. Let's see what they can do. Rather a U high here with 2:06 to go in the third quarter.

After a couple of kick return touchdowns, it feels like these teams kind of have to get their sea legs back under them and maybe, maybe a couple of good run plays here so this game doesn't go completely wild. Yeah, that's definitely true. And this LC defense hasn't come out here ready to go. They haven't been on defense in a while. All right, uh, comes out with three receivers split to the far side.

They're going right to left across your radio dial. Caleb Walcott back under center and a flag comes in. That's a false start on the offense. Deontay former player perspective. When you have things like all those penalties and then back to that kick return touchdowns, it's got to feel good weird on the field.

Like, like you're waiting for the game to get some rhythm again, right? Yeah, you get a little woozy out there. You start to get a little bit dizzy because you don't know whether to be happy or upset because so much stuff is going both ways. Like when the game gets out of control, right? Yeah.

It's all over the place at that point. Does this feel a little out of control? A little bit, but this is one of your maturity. Kicks in. All right after the penalty, first down and 15, Walcott drops back on the draw turns and hands off to Malachi Miller.

Tries to get to the outside. He does. He's around the corner. He's passed a line back into the 30, the 35. He's taken down by the safety at the 36 yard line.

That was very nearly a touchdown. He got taken down by the last guy in the way between him and another 60 yards. Yeah, that would have been a touchdown for sure. You got three, four guys in the back foot who all had their hands on him but just cannot bring him down. This guy must be really, really hard to bring down because there's no way you're missing that many tackles.

All right, so the clock will start running again, 135 to go. Here until the end of the third quarter, 14 to 10, our score. University High School on top of Lewis and Clark. And the Titans are driving from the 36. Second down.

And six safeties creep up and they're going to start blitzing. Here comes Walcott. He drops back and he is taken down by a whole host of LC players. Max Hair, the first one there with a sack. Back inside the 30 and a loss of almost 10.

It's risky for a quarterback to try and fight for yards like that. And it initially hurts you yourself more than it allows you to yourself to gain stuff. Why is that risky? Because for one, you're the only quarterback that's been in there the entire night. They obviously want you in there.

They obviously need you in there. And you got to just go down there. You got three, four guys coming. That's when you have risk for injury. And Walcott runs back onto the field here.

45 seconds to go in the quarter as you high. Titans up four points, 14 to 10. Only one deep safety back for Lewis and Clark. And white pants, white jersey and black helmet. Here comes Walcott, surveying the defense under center.

Drops back in the left. He throws down the sideline into coverage. Goes to Jalen King through into double coverage. That pass sails over his head. He's asking for a flag.

He's not going to get it. No PI. Third down, rather fourth down. A lot more contact on that play than there was on the last PI call that, that was called on you high when. When LC was on defense, was on offense.

So it's a little bit risky there. I would like to see see a PI there for sure. There was a lot of contact by that corner on the wide receiver. UHI has not been afraid to throw in well designed plays tonight. The best one we saw was an over the middle pass to Jalen King.

But really we've seen a lot of good 5 yard plays rather than downfield ones. Here's the snap. It's a fake punt and it's dropped. They went over the middle to Trey Buchanan. He dropped it inside.

Inside the 40. I like the call. LC was not expecting it. But here's the problem. LC now gets the ball on the U high.

What? 30 yard line, 32. It's time for them to take control of this game. Go ahead, go straight down and score. Give the ball to players who are going to make plays.

Okay, sir, in case you're just joining us, first drive the game. You high drove down the field and scored right the start of the third quarter. We saw a Field goal for Lewis and Clark, seven to three, U high. Then in the course of two minutes, two kick return touchdowns, one for each team. It makes it 14 to 10.

And now after that bombed fake punt, LC has the ball on the Lewis and Clark 30 on the right side of the 50. So here comes Charles Northern under center play action, throws down the right side of the field. Max Meyer makes a catch. He's got one man between him in the end zone and he's taken down at the five. A spectacular catch with a very, very under thrown ball.

That's how you come back for the ball as a wide receiver. Yeah. So didn't have time to describe it when it was in the air. He would have been open in the end zone. Northern threw it back at the 10.

He still made the catch. Yeah, that's a big time play. That's how you make a quarterback look good. All right. Ten seconds, nine seconds.

He was met up with the four yard line and managed to drive his way all the way to the end zone and reach for the end zone with the. Okay, so the Lewis and Clark passing game, the last couple of plays has been kind of disjointed, but somehow it's one worked. It has because the wide receivers and the guys who are getting targeted are making those plays. All right, so out comes the PAT attempt. 16 to 14, our current score.

And they've made a couple of good 5, 10 yard passes to guys like Dominic Longo, Jalen King. But really best plays of this game have all been Malachi Miller and occasionally Dayton Thompson.

Yeah, and they haven't gone to him too much the second half. All right, so here comes U High. Maroon jerseys, gold helmets, gold pants. From their own 30 yard line on the left side of the 50, they put a man in motion. It's a draw play to give it up the middle to Malachi Miller.

Unbelievable. Big time players make big time plays when big time plays are needed. That's how you do it. Malachi Miller. That's a great run right there.

Make it interesting for us. All right, so you help you kicking off left to right across your radio dial. And at this point we kind of thought we had an idea about what the rest of this game had in store. I am not so sure anymore. 21:17 U high on top of Lewis and Clark.

And as they get ready to put this one away. What do you even expect out of the LC offense this time? Because Charles Northern has been phenomenal. But you know it's just been him and Hilbert. It has.

But I'd like to see gents Hilbert in the end zone again. He's earned it. He deserves it. He hasn't got one on offense, he got one on special teams. This is a high kick.

I'm thinking they got to score within three minutes here. They got to just get the ball out of their hands. On the last quarter, they had the ball for maybe nine to 10 minutes, which is way too long. All right, so here they come. They'll take the ball at the 32 yard line.

Pretty generous spot here from the referee. Two receivers split out to the far side and one in the slot here for Charles Northern. He's got Hilburn in the backfield. He turns and hands it off to Hilbert. He's past the 35, up at the left hash mark, falls forward to the 37, gain of about five yards.

That'll get the clock moving down inside 10:30. And the U High student section in. Parents and the cheerleaders lending the appropriate atmosphere here. They like a good finish. So do we.

Oh, yeah. My eyes are glued to this game for sure. Little closer than 28. Nothing with LC against Mount Spokane last week, huh? Definitely.

Oh, yeah. Bunch formation here on second down and five for lc. It's a pitch along the right side out of the option to Matt Hare. Yeah, I can see that for sure. It's hard for him just to get a direct snap from the quarter or handoff from the quarterback. And he has three guys in his face every time. All right, Matt here did not get quite to the 50. They're going to mark it on the 49, on their own side of the 50.

Down to 945 to go in this one. 2117, you high on top of LC. But the Tigers are moving, and this is the cleanest their offense has looked all night. On offense, here comes Northern out of the gun. He's standing back at the 45.

Takes a low snap, rolls out. Here comes pressure, dumps it off. That pass nearly intercepted. Boy, off the hands of Tyler Jones. First time they targeted him tonight, he tipped it with his right hand.

A U High defender flew in and it bounced off his hands as he fell to the ground. Yeah, we got to make sure we make that play there. He has this guy wide open. If he just leads him a little bit, you can go ahead and get a nice complete completion. The guy can be up the sideline.

Instead you throw it behind them and it's almost an interception. That would have been what felt like a potential nail in the coffin if he'd caught that. Oh, yes. It would have gave them everything they needed right there. They're going to be able to control the drive.

They could have controlled the game instead. Second down and 10 and LC now on their own 49 yard line. Northern stands back in the gun at the 45. They send Hilburn in motion. He drops back, throws to the near side.

He threw behind his receiver, man. Off the hands of Joey Farish. His third target. That one falls incomplete. Third and ten coming up.

These are key passes that have to be made. You got to lead your receivers instead of throwing it behind them here. But maybe we can get a good play call here and get the ball in the right guy's hands. And I think we know that's gents Hilburn. You gotta target him here, right?

You have to. So do you go to him in the Wildcat? Do you run a pitch? Do you try to get him open as a receiver? What do you think?

Pitch it to the outside. The balls in the middle of the field. Give them as much space as possible to make a play. All right, here they come from their own 49. Hilburn is lined up in the slot for Northern.

Matt Hare is the tailback here out of the option with third and 10. And oh, man, the LC defense jumped. They got him. It's a money down. We call it third down.

Money down because it's the down in order for us to get off the field. I like that. We can't jump on that. That was a brutal time. Yeah.

I'll tell you what, uhai's defense has been good about not jumping the night. Yeah. Yeah, they have. So all of a sudden, this becomes a much more manageable third down and five for Lewis and Clark. And Northern goes to the sideline to talk with his head coach on the far side of the field, Joe Ireland.

Now he comes back out and the offense claps their hands to get out of the huddle. They send Jones to the bottom of the field. They send Mickelson to the top here. Third down and 5, 9, 25 to go in this one. Big third and five here for Lewis and Clark.

They said Hilburn in motion. They run the option and Northern is tackled to the 50 for no gain. Just brutal fourth down coming up. Huge defensive stop there after that penalty. Huge defensive stop.

What a time for a sack. What a time for a loss of 5, 4th and 10. Now the down in distance and they're going to send out their punt unit. Man, so promising for for Lewis and Clark goes to the wayside. I think that they have good faith in their defense that they're going to get a stop here and give their office another chance to go back out there.

So all of a sudden here you high with a 2117 lead, about to get the ball back on the punts around their own 20 yard line. That ball is in the air right to left across the field. They'll let that one bounce to the 25, 26 yard line. So U High gets this ball back with a 21 to 70 lead. We're going to take one more break here on the broadcast.

All right, here comes U High on third down and one. They got Caleb Walcott falling forward on a quarterback sneak for em at Orthodontics. First down. It's a good third down play right there. Malik Miller went for the entire nine yards on that play.

They bring a linebacker blitz. It's a draw play turn and handoff the Malachi Miller. He spins off a tackle, gets to the left side, back to the line of scrimmage, stays on his feet to the 45. You're kidding me. Gain of seven yards.

Unreal. Should have been tackled for loss that he must just be one hard guy to tackle. Three guys on him that time and he still manages to go scramble for 7 yards. He's bouncing it every single time. If U High wins this game, Malachi Miller is going to be our MVP number one with a bullet.

There's no questioning that at all. I'll say this though, as they get ready to bring their offense back out here for a pretty good second and three. The U High student section here below us does not feel super confident. I think they know this game is still up in the air. Two deep safeties back here for Lewis and Clark.

On defense. Malachi Miller takes a handoff, gets to the outside between the hashes 48 yard line, gets again a two. This is still going to be third down and a long one. Big play coming up here for the Titans with 5:50 to go. That was a good run.

By him there. He's very slippery. I can see him slipping through defenders and trying to get as many yards as possible. He knows his game is still within reach as well for the LC offense. University high up on Lewis and Clark.

21:17, 05:35 to go and they're on offense here at their own 47 yard line. Walk up the lefty corner, quarterback comes out under center, looks at the LC defense. He sees they're going to bring linebacker blitz. They do. He gets between one of the gaps, he falls Forward past the 50.

He's still on his feet for a big demon Orthodontics first down. That quarterback sneak is working for them. Yeah, he's just fitting right where he needs to fit in. Following his blockers and they're just pushing everybody back. A couple of big Damon orthodontics first downs on this drive for you High.

They tried to kick a field goal right before halftime. It did not go through. So if they get down to the 20, the 10, the idea of a kick, if they can't get into the end zone, that is no sure thing. So here they come on the new first down. Exactly five minutes to go there at the 48.

One deep safety back on defense for Lewis and Clark. They're expecting pass and they'll get passed. Turning handoff to Malachi Miller. 45 yard line, falls four to the 43. Taken down by the ankles by one of the defensive linemen.

Gain a four. Malachi is just hammering this one home for them right now. The LC defense has to be a little bit more aggressive with getting stops because he's gaining at least 4 to 5 yards per carry and running the clock. We're now down to 430. Lewis and Clark still has all three timeouts.

Uhai has two four yard gain on the play. This drive for you High has gone on for about four minutes here. I would like to see LC use some timeout soon. It's. It's about time because again, LC is not a passing team.

If they come back on the field with two minutes, I don't know how they're going to get downfield running the option. It's a little bit unrealistic. All right, here comes the play. They turn and hand off to Malachi Miller who gets to the outside 40 yard line. 39 did not get to the chains.

The this is still going to be third down and two and this feels like the play. If LC can't get a stop, it's time to start using timeouts. It definitely is and I wouldn't be surprised if you high comes out here and runs another QB keeper. It's worked twice already this drive. 2 for 2 on it.

Might as well make it 3 for 3. 340 to go. U high leads LC 2117. U high on offense. They're down on the Lewis and Clark 38 yard line on the right side of the field.

This is a big play. LC is going to start using timeouts. If they don't get a stop here, you got to think. And they jam the box. Seven guys in the box on defense.

Third down, Here comes the handoff. It's Malachi Miller to the 40 yard line. 38. 37. He got right around the chains.

We're going to wait to see if it's a first down. He got right around the 37. Referees conferring. It's a name of orthodontics. First down.

Wow, wow, wow. Okay, you high? Starting to run the clock. And it's about time for LC to start going to the timeouts. Yeah, this is tough.

Every single possession that LC has had where they've made something happen, they've had the ball for more than five minutes. And with them having the ball for this short amount of time, it'll be rough for them to try and go down to score that quick. How about that? All right. 36 yard line as well.

They'll spot it. Three receivers split out to the far side, one to the near side. They said Skidmore in motion. Here's a pitch to the far side to Dayton Thompson. He's wrapped up and spins back toward the middle of the two hash marks.

Gets back to the original line of scrimmage and no gain on the play. And we have a timeout on the field. The first of three for the Tigers. Yeah, that was a really. That was a really risky player there.

He almost got a tackle for a loss there. They could have went back, but, I mean, the clock is still running and that's what they want to do here. Okay, Dante, not to start questioning the referees too soon, but, you know, 238, assume that they don't pick up the first down and end the game here. Let's say that's going to be about 220to go on the clock for Lewis and Clark to get the ball back somewhere around their own 15 yard line if they're lucky. Is that enough time for them?

Elsie is going to need a nearby perfect series if they want to score there. They're going to make sure that they. They're going to need to get out of bounds. When they touch the ball, they're going to need to give the ball to their key players and they're going to need to make sure that they start attacking things through the air. We haven't seen too many air raids coming, but they're going to have to start throwing some fades, maybe even some post in there and open up this playbook even more.

Now when Lewis and Clark gets the ball back against Hilburn is going to be target number one. But they've only thrown to Tyler Jones once tonight. Max Meyer is a great receiver, so maybe it's a combination of those three. It's a time to give the ball to every player you got. Leave it all out there.

You want to win, you got to leave it all out there on the field. This has been a great high school football game tonight. And back comes U high on the field. Second down and 10 from the LC 36 yard line. They're on top by four points.

2117 trying to wind down the clock. Second down and 10. Handoff to Malachi. Miller gets between a couple of defensive linemen, gets to the linebacker room around the 34 yard line picks. Here comes the timeout from the far side of the field.

Yes. The second of three for Lewis and Clark stops the clock at 2:29. It'll be third down and Long with using up all these timeouts right now on defense and they're only on third down when they go on offense. You're gonna have to make sure your, your players have really, really high IQ here. Yeah.

So that's the one thing I wanted to ask you. You know, if it's one thing, if you're like Mount Spokane or Central Valley, you got to get 80 yards and passing the ball, that's fine because those are passing teams. LC runs the ball 90 of the time. Exactly. Are they prepared to try to do an air raid drive?

You got to just make sure your players are queued in. They run a lot through the, they run a lot through the middle of the gap. They got to start bouncing a little bit, get some tosses, allow them to run, run to the outside and even step out of bounds. When you out of bounds, you stop the clock. That's how you keep this drive alive.

This is the hard thing about being an option football team though. Right when it comes to the end of the game and you're behind, you are kind of screwed. Yeah, that's rough. Because you need time. Time is the best way in order for you to be able to win.

When and with you only having 2 minutes and 29 seconds right now. It's going to be a rough one. 21:17 Our score. University High School on top of Lewis and Clark. Third down and eight for U High.

If they can pick up a Damon orthodontics first down that would essentially end the game. But Yukai Uhi's offense comes out with two receivers receiver split in kind of a bunch formation. Elsie's defense stack in the box. Here comes Walcott, the lefty quarterback under center. He rolls out for play action.

He shakes off a defender and stays on his feet. He's to the 40 yard line, throws downfield and it's incomplete. I don't love that. It gives Lewis and Clark one extra time out to Hante that they don't have to burn. So now it's fourth down.

Yeah, that's a really really rough call there. If earlier he struggled with that roll out to the left, throwing it to his left two. On that type of play call I would have just handed it off and let the running back run it through. All right, so U I will punt. Despite the fact that if this was any other part of the game this would be go for it territory, they want to make LC go as far as they possibly can.

Max Meyer, the Lewis and Clark returner goes back and stands around his own five yard line on the right side of the field and to kick this one away from the 45 yard line. Sam Thomas puts in the air. Good kick. Right sideline out of bounds around the 2575 yards to go for Lewis and Clark. Two minutes and 16 seconds to do it.

They trail 21 to 17. Can they do it to hunt a Hayes? I have faith in them. I want them to win this one. They deserve this one.

They've worked really, really hard. They're playing a really good game. Their defense is definitely working as hard as they possibly can. They made huge strides this last week. Charles Northern, the quarterback has run the ball well today.

Jen Silburn in any other game would probably be our mvp. But if you high winds it's got to go to someone else. Tyler Jones is a 63 receiver. He's great. Max Meyer a 62 receiver.

They could go to Matt here, but let's see what they do. From the 25 yard line on the right side of the field. It is go time for Lewis and Clark. They're down four points with 215 to go. Backdrops Northern.

It's play action. He rolls out to the right. He's chased by a couple of guys, throws Downfield it is caught at the 42 yard line and getting toward the far sideline is Tyler Jones. Wow, wow, wow. At amid orthodontics.

First down. He's up to the 45. That's a big time play. He juggled the ball a little bit there on that cat. I was made it happen.

That's why it took me a second. I couldn't tell if he held it or not. Oh, yeah. But he did not get out of bounds. The clock will run down inside two minutes.

155, 154, 153. And here comes northern under center for the snap. Drops back into the shotgun, turns and hands off to Matt Hare. Stopped for gain. A2 at the 46 yard line.

The clock will run. Is it maybe time for a timeout for the Tigers? Yes. They will take their final timeout with 1:42 to go. Not really a big fan of that call because you know you need to get the stop there.

You could have used the timeout when you're close to the goal line there, but I mean, you got a few yards there. You're a little bit close to the end zone. Let's go ahead and make this work. Okay. So that pass to Tyler Jones went pretty well.

The problem is with every success of play you run, uhi's defense is just going to keep putting more guys back and back in the secondary to make sure you can't get behind them. Exactly. But I think that if you were just to continue to have him scrambled the way he just scrambled. He didn't. He wanted to sit in the pocket and make that play, but.

But instead he had pressure coming. He scrambled out to the right and was able to complete that pass. If you make it to where that is a design play for him. I think that that makes it to where the defense may lose. Guys, you can get somebody open down the field.

The U High student section all dressed in pink tonight for breast cancer awareness night at their home game. Students on the verge of a big win here for the Titans. Up 21:17 on Lewis and Clark. But the Tigers have had a couple of real magic moments tonight out here in Spokane Valley. Let's see if they can produce one or two more142 to go in the game.

They've got the ball on their own 46 yard line on the right side of the field. They've got to get 54 more yards in 102 seconds and no more timeouts to burn. Northern comes out under the gun. New second down and seven Here goes in the slots and Hilburn in the backfield. Hilburn will block for Northern as he rolls and throws to the far side off the hands of Tyler Jones.

Passing complete third down. We got two more downs here. We got to make sure we make a play here. Our five yard pass is going to cut it. Five yard passes might cut it when they're, when they're caught, but when you drop a pass like that, that would have brought your team that much, much closer to the first down.

And the problem is Jones was so gobbled up by guys in the secondary, he wasn't going to get out of bounds either way. Yeah, no, and you're just keying that, that one guy when you still have a whole another group of guys to throw the ball to. All right, this is big. Third down and seven for LC down. Four points, 135 to go.

Northern surveys the U High defense in their maroon jerseys and gold helmets. Takes a look. Takes a high snap play. Action to hair. Throws far down the right sideline.

It looks like there was pass interference. Pass intended for Joey Farish. I saw him get shoved. I also don't see any flags. Yeah, there's no flash.

That's a high IQ play there. He must have a really good defensive defensive back coach, because, oh man, that was definitely pass interference. They just didn't call it. Definitely when you're in phase with a wide receiver, give him a little tug on the jersey right there. You see how he lost his balance a little bit, but the ref didn't see it.

There's no call gonna be made there. We saw it. Yeah, we saw it. We definitely saw it. Okay, so an unbelievable break or high IQ play for the University High School defense.

And all of a sudden this is back against the wall for Lewis and Clark. 4th and 7, 130 to go. If they do not convert a first down here, this game is done. Northern looks at the defense, takes a good snap. Here's a big linebacker blitz.

Same play down the sideline into coverage again. It's incomplete. The guys on the field, did we get a pass interference on that play? Because he was tripped. And it looks like they're finally going to call a PI on that play because Hilburn ended up on the ground.

Yeah, that one was tough. When you're really trailing a wide receiver like that, you got to make sure your feet don't get tangled up. That's a PI call every single day. Okay, well, University High School, I think got a little over their skis there and tried to do it back to back plays and they give Lewis and Clark here a second shot at life after the 15 yard penalty. All of a sudden here they get this ball down around the U high 40 with 123 to go.

They have no timeouts. But that was a big 15 yards. Huge 15 yards. It changed the whole dynamic of the game. The game would have been over right there.

Incomplete pass. Get the ball back to you high. We need it. We're going home. It was going to be two on two coverage.

It would not have been easy for him to make that catch either way. Not at all. You would have to throw a perfect, perfect ball with a perfect wide receiver to make that catch. All right, all of a sudden now they're at the U high 39 yard line on the left side of the 50. Lewis and Clark and white jerseys, white pants and black helmets as a chance to try to push this game late.

123 to go. They're down four points. Here comes Northern. Low snap, linebackers blitz. He throws over the middle.

It's intercepted. He was hit as he threw. That one is intercepted by a RICO long. Go past the 50 on the Int. That is going be to to win this game for the U.

Hai Titans. Rico Longo puts the nail in the coffin on the interception. That is a huge play right there. I have to say he came through pancake the office alignment, then went back and landed a huge hit on on Charles Northern. Whoa, that's a great ending to this game.

This has been a phenomenal game. And the final score of this one is going to be 2117 U high sometime in the next 75 seconds. All right, Dante, we have talked about how this game has kind of felt drunk all night. It's really not had steady legs since midway through the third quarter. I didn't think that was how this game was going to end.

But it makes sense in hindsight, doesn't it? It does make sense because we wanted a nail biter. We've been asking for one the first half. We didn't know what we were going to get and they came out in the second half swinging. Really phenomenal ending to this game.

That is a real bummer for Lewis and Clark. Clark with a loss here, they'll drop to second and two and four on the season after this loss. Here we have a flag on the field. Unsportsmanlike conduct after the end of the play by U High. Not surprising.

They were celebrating. And with a win here at University High School. I'll jump up to 500 on the season three and three what will be wins against Cheney Ridgeline and now Lewis and Clark victory formation on the left side of the field here on the 35 for U high Walcott. And he drops to an E and there goes the first of a couple kneeling plays. All right, Dahante, this was a, it was a really wonderful game here as we get ready to head to the postgame show in just a minute.

I think we know what our player and play of the games are going to be. What's your big takeaway tonight? My big takeaway is that Malachi Miller is the real deal. He came here tonight, he put on a show the entire time. Every time he touched the ball, he got the yards he wanted.

He definitely controlled the game. The quarterback normally controls the game, but he controlled the game. The quarterback played great too, but he was definitely an outstanding player today. Well, spoiler alert. I think we know who our player the game is going to be in the Postgame show.

We're going to see them for the first time as they are up at the new Union Stadium taken on Mead. The Panthers are going to be the favorite there, but it's always interesting to haunt it. When you see a new team, new players program, they can always surprise you because you don't know exactly what you're going to see because they're new. That's very true. You never know.

Like sometimes it takes a long time for a team to click with their coaches. No question. Okay, so with the U High win tonight back here, U High moves to three and three on the season and Lewis and Clark drops to two and four. But before we go, I do want to ask you. U High made the plays when it mattered.

It feels like Lewis and Clark could have won this game a couple of times. Yeah, Lewis and Clark definitely has. They have the keys to be successful. They're just still, they're still learning, they're still working. They have a brand new system and they're still trying to make it to where they know how to run it professionally.

So you're not counting out LC yet this year? No, not at all. I still think that they're, they're showing improvement. As long as they're not stagnant and they're going backwards. They're way better than they were last week.

And I do want to point out in terms of the key players on Lewis and Clark's offense, Charles Northern Jr, Jen Silburn Jr, Tommy Mickelson Jr, Tyler Jones, sophomore, and Matt Hare Jr. So most of the guys are learning and they are back next year for lc. They'll come back next year and I'm pretty sure they'll be polished. Yep. And speaking of things that will be back, we will be back next week and the great Paul Sorensen will be back in the booth on color commentary for most of the rest of our games this year.
