Orland Axton helps Central Valley boys advance to third-place game; Deer Park, Clarkston girls to meet for 2A title | District 6 basketball

Roundup of Thursday’s District 6 boys and girls basketball tournaments. All games are loser-outs.

Orland Axton scored 20 points, Cameron Walls added 14 and third-seeded Central Valley eliminated visiting fifth-seeded Ridgeline 66-52 in a District 6 3A game.

Central Valley (16-7) took a 15-7 lead after the first quarter and never relinquished the lead. The Bears will host second-seeded Kennewick for a berth to state in the district third-place game on Saturday.

Caden Andreas, the Greater Spokane League’s No. 6 all-time scorer, led Ridgeline (10-13) with 20 points in his final high school game.

Boys 4A

Chiawana 85, Lewis and Clark 58: Ender Douglass hit five 3-pointers and the third-seeded Riverhawks (20-4) eliminated the visiting fourth-seeded Tigers (12-11). Angus Gehn had 20 points and six rebounds for Lewis and Clark.

Chiawana faces fifth-seeded Kamiakin in the district third-place game on Saturday.

Kamiakin 58, Mead 44: The fifth-seeded Braves (19-5) eliminated the visiting sixth-seeded Panthers (11-11). Details were unavailable.

2A

West Valley 69, Rogers 36: Noah Willard hit four 3-pointers, scoring 19 on the night, and Hewson Spencer added 17 and the second-seeded Eagles (15-6) eliminated the visiting third-seeded Pirates (11-9).

Kayoni Yoeun led Rogers with 10 points. West Valley advances to the district championship on Saturday against top-seeded Pullman. Both teams in the title game will advance to state.

Pullman 62, Clarkston 33: Vaughn Holstead scored 16 points and the top-seeded Greyhounds (19-3) eliminated the visiting fifth-seeded Bantams (9-14).

1A

Lakeside 61, Colville 58 (OT): Clay Hanson scored 17 points, Luke Howie added 15 and the top-seeded Eagles (16-6) eliminated the third-seeded Crimson Hawks (9-13) in overtime in the district second-place game.

Lakeside advances to a District 5/6 crossover game on Saturday. Parker Darnold led Colville with 13.

Girls 3A

Hermiston 46, Central Valley 37: Aspen Inners scored 20 points and the second-seeded Bulldogs (17-6) eliminated the visiting fifth-seeded Bears (13-10). Olivia Patshkowski led CV with 18 points. Hermiston will play fourth-seeded Southridge in the district third-place game on Saturday.

2A

Deer Park 67, West Valley 37: Ashlyn and Emma Bryant combined for 45 points and the second-seeded Stags (20-2) eliminated the visiting third-seeded Eagles (14-7).

Deer Park advances to the district championship against top-seeded Clarkston on Saturday.

Cassie Brooks led WV with 19 points.

Clarkston 65, Pullman 43: Aneysa Judy had five 3-pointers for 17 points on the night, Preslee Dempsey added 15 and the top-seeded Bantams (20-2) eliminated the visiting Greyhounds (13-10). River Sykes led Pullman with 17 points.
