Where she really excelled was the javelin, where she learned how to “throw the stick” and earned 1st place in multiple GSL meets, 1st at Districts, 1st at Regionals, and a 9th place finish at state. Additionally, her track team earned the honor of 2023 Spring WIAA Academic State Champions.
In Volleyball, she is a 4-year starter, who earned Second Team All-League her freshman year and continued on to become a three-time First Team All-League athlete her Sophomore through Senior year, including GSL Player of the Year both her Junior and Senior year. In addition to being the Team Captain and MVP her Junior and Senior year, she helped lead the team to multiple district titles and two state appearances where they placed in the top ten. Furthermore, Abbey achieved the milestone of 1,000 career kills…finishing with a total of 1,045 in her time at Shadle Park. Abbey was also named WIAA athlete of the week for week 8, American Volleyball Coaches Association top 10 player in our region, second team All-State her Junior Year, and First Team All-State her Senior Year.
Abbey has volunteered in multiple areas for the last 8 years including Ronald McDonald House serving children and families, Catholic Charities assisting the elderly and disabled with yard work, Comcast Cares packing bags for the homeless and making blankets, as well as working with youth sports athletes in a variety of camps and clinics throughout the Spokane area. She also has a passion for helping animals and currently has an opportunity to volunteer with an animal sanctuary.
Abbey will attend College of Idaho to play volleyball, where she was awarded a full tuition scholarship in combination of academics and athletics. She intends to obtain a degree in Psychology and Forensics.
