Tiernan captured the District Championship in boys singles with an incredible weekend performance. Tiernan defeated three opponents on his way to the title, including dominant wins on Friday over two Hanford players 6-0, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-3, battling through difficult cold and windy conditions. In Saturday’s championship match against Kamiakin, Tiernan stayed composed through two rain delays, rallied back from a 0-3 deficit, and won 9 of the next 10 games to secure the district title 6-4, 6-4. Tiernan now heads to the State Tournament, where he’ll take on the #13 seed from West Valley in the opening round later this week.
